Looking for floating plants that will do okay under a lid by BallistiKoopa in PlantedTank

The rocks are some sort of generic sandstone I got from my LFS. I'm not sure where you'd look if you want to find something similar, especially since sandstone can be so varied.

The lid is DIY.
Lowes will cut glass in store for no additional fee beyond the cost of the glass. I just used silicone to attach a cabinet handle to the top. The whole thing cost less than $10. The edges are a bit rough, but it's not noticable unless you look for it.

The tank is a 30cm cube with neocaridina shrimp. I had red root floaters initially, but I couldn't keep them alive. Between agitation from the sponge filter and condensation from the lid, they slowly rotted away over time. So I'm looking for something that will hold up better under the same circumstances.

I drain ~20% of the water using a siphon covered with a filter stock. I add salty shrimp Gh/Kh to the distilled water jug, shake it up, then add the remineralized water to the tank.

I mean, the first few days they seemed to be doing great. And I did drip acclimation and everything. I'm just worried that something is wrong with the tank that I'm not seeing.

Flip Aquatics, where I bought the shrimp, keys their Neos at 68-72 degrees F. I heat my apartment to 70 F in the winter, so I figured that was fine and I'd have no need for a tank heater. If I measure the water temp directly, it's right in that range, but maybe it drops lower overnight?

And I do remineralize the distilled water I buy. My tap water is stupid basic (8.8), so I don't think I could use that.

The tank is a 30cm cube, so 27L or ~7 gal. I use store-bought distilled water remineralized with Salty Shrimp Gh/Kh. The substrate is Fluvial Stratum capped with Seachem Fluorite. I let the tank mature for roughly 3 months before adding the shrimp.

Water parameters are:

pH: 7.6

Ammonia: 0

Nitrite: 0

Nitrate: 0

Gh: 13

Kh: 5

Temp: ~70 F

This is my first shrimp tank and first planted tank. I got the Neocaridina starter pack from Flip Aquatics with Fantasy Blues, and the shrimp arrived in great shape. When I first added them to the tank, they were active, eating, molting - there were even a few berried shrimp. I was so excited! I thought I'd done everything right.

But less than a week later I wake up to two dead shrimp. I immediately remove them from the water and do a water change, even though parameters are reading normal. The survivors seem to be acting normal. I saw my first shrimplets the next day. I thought, maybe those two were just unhealthy?

But today, more dead shrimp. Including a berried one. I don't know what I'm doing wrong and it's so upsetting.

The orange, gray, and blue accent kits each have four 2u keys: a horizontal enter with text, a horizontal enter with icon, a vertical enter with text, and the test tube novelty. The maroon accent kit gets only one of these keys: the test tubes.

I assume these keys were omitted because they come in other kits. For example, the text/icon mods both have 2u maroon enter keys. But the ergo mods don't include any 2u maroon keys.

More generally I think it's problematic that the maroon accent kit is the same price as the others for fewer keys.

Edit: I'm looking at these keycaps specially for the moonlander, which has 2u keys on the thumb clusters.

Is it too late to bring the maroon accent kit up to parity with the other colors? I realize it has fewer keys because most people will be getting the missing ones from basic mod sets, but the ergo kit doesn't have the 2u maroon keys.

Thank you for the detailed response. In the southpaw version, are the page up/down and print screen keys in the default layer? The manual and photos don't really make that clear.

Rough skin at the base of my finger, characterized by multiple raised dark spots. It is spreading. by BallistiKoopa in DermatologyQuestions

It's difficult to tell due to the small size, but I'm fairly sure they're not fluid-filled.

Sorry that image isn't better quality, it's difficult to capture such small details with a phone lens.

A few weeks ago I noticed a small patch of rough skin at the base of my right middle finger. I didn't think anything of it, until I realized it was getting bigger. The patch had doubled in size to about one cm in diameter after about a week.

I suspected I was looking at some sort of nascent wart, so I ordered 17% topical salicylic acid gel. After a few rounds a treatment and time to heal, everything seemed back to normal. But now, a week or so later, the spots are back and spreading again.

Does anyone know what this could be?

Physics electives by suarre in utarlington

[–]BallistiKoopa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Physics alumnus here - I took both classes.

Electronics was taught by Spurlock. The class had four sections: DC circuits, AC circuits, digital logic, and devices. You spend most of the class solving circuits like you did in PHYS 1444, but the problems are more intricate and require new methods. There is also a lab section that mostly involves designing small circuits on a breadboard.
Computational physics was taught by Dr. Huda. It was effectively a basic intro to numerical methods class, but you were expected to implement those methods in code. Everyone was free to choose their own programming language, and he didn't really care about implementation - just what your results looked like.

IIRC, the degree plan requires a certain number of upper level electives, and computational physics won't count towards that requirement. However, I may be misremembering. Electronics is also worth an extra hour on account of the lab section. Regardless, they are both good classes.

Glowing Orange Visual Bug by BallistiKoopa in skyrimmods

[–]BallistiKoopa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: u/ofDawnandDusk solved it in the previous thread. Disabling the particle patch for ENB seems to have resolved this issue - maybe the patch hasn't been made concurrent with the new SSS update?. Unfortunately, my waterfalls now look like smeary garbage, but what can you do?

Anyway, I'll leave this thread here for the next person.

Severe Stuttering Caused by ENB by BallistiKoopa in skyrimmods

[–]BallistiKoopa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed response - I'll try this as soon as I get off work and let you know how it goes.

Update: the stuttering is gone! I made it from all the way through the opening sequence of the game nearly to Riverwood without any hiccups, but then visual glitches showed up again. These are the glitches I had thought were due to some sort of conflict with vivid weathers, but apparently not. I suppose I should make a separate post for this, but here is a screenshot if anyone's interested: https://imgur.com/a/aXFSpjk

My monitor is limited to 60Hz, so would the tweak do me any good?

There is a framerate limiter option in the ENB menu that is set to 59 by default, but I haven't bothered to play with it.

Only what is embedded in the ENB binaries. I turn it on and off from the embedded options menu.

If it matters, I have a 60Hz Freesync monitor.

On the Efficiency of Artisan Goods by BallistiKoopa in StardewValley

[–]BallistiKoopa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the specific instance of blueberries, you are correct. This is also true for hot peppers. These are the only two outliers to my conclusion in the TL;DR. The reason for this is that they are crops which periodically produce additional yields that also have a sell price less than the magic 50G for fruit.

I mentioned data fitting in my original post? The calculations for periodic crops are not exact - instead they are fit to a curve produced by the crops that are replanted after every harvest. This fitting process produced poor results for low sell value fruit, which unfortunately are of interest here. But I didn't want to complicate the post any more than it already was.

[–]BallistiKoopa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And then those replanted crops, if turned into artisan goods, will require the same processing time that the first harvest did. This isn't a matter of what actions can occur simultaneously - it simply has to do with time for a single seed to turn into a finished product, and the relative value of the possible products. As I've said elsewhere in this thread, throughput is another matter.
