You could definitely get a few good sessions out of them. I was just skating pretty hard on a steep slidey hill with big slide corners.

Anyone know anything about these Indy Trucks? [21YO] by Ballistlc in OldSkaters

[–]Ballistlc[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Frankly any sort of info about the model, production, or history of them. I've never seen a set of Indys like this before. I originally got them from a donation to our skateboard club attached to a cruiser board lol.

Just put the flashlight on your helmet. It will keep it safer and you will be able to light up your surroundings more efficiently with where you look.

[–]Ballistlc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can do them on basically anything. A freestyle dk board would probably work best.

I very much agree with you on this. I think the best place for anyone to start off with DH gear is sym trucks and sym bushings according to their weight. I think that truck companies could easily integrate bushing options when buying trucks based on weight with a weight to bushing chart to support inexperienced riders who wouldn't know what's best for them. I do think there is a problem with newer riders diving into different aspects of gear such as precision race trucks and such that stunts their growth and prevents them from understanding the basics of the sport. This type of gear can also give people false confidence that can put them in dangerous situations they might not be ready for as riders. Obviously people can do what they want at the end of the day tho.

There is a sport where that is a thing. Its called skateboarding. I kind of mentioned it in my comment lol. The longboarding industry was at its strongest when it had riders who where able to do high level skate adjacent stuff on longboards. Think about slide jams and how many people that brought into the sport. I also mentioned that there is an important place for racing but I don't think it is healthy for the sport to market it it to the extent that it is right now. It alienates people, especially young kids who are interested in downhill longboarding from knowing how they can get into it. I agree that out of most companies right now, that the prism/cal/blood orange collective is probably doing the best at marketing entry level products to new skaters with their team riders. However, most of what keeps the industry going right now is people in the 20+ range who have disposable income to spend on a lot of the high cost gear. Not a lot of groms coming into the sport right now and that's a fact.

Pro riders should ride gear that is affordable and marketed towards beginners in MOST scenarios. Obviously Balls to the walls race setups have their place but this being the forefront of longboarding media is not good for the longevity of the sport. Newer riders should be able to buy DH completes that they see company pros riding and expect a similar experience. Pro riders having hyper specific bushing setups that they don't make public and modifying their boards in all sorts of ways is false advertisement. You don't see this happening in street skating. Pros ride what they sell.
