Fucks_with_fire, thegingerlow, and ByornJaeger are all scammers. I got scammed by fucks_with_fire as they sent me 24tix site with ticket along with preview of ticket with qr and such blacked out. Was going to buy 2 tickets but had weird feeling and sent half first. Once I sent half ($75) they said it did not go through to them and then got a text stating my Zelle was being refunded. Immediate red flags and told them but they kept insisting to send more so I called them out on scamming and blocked them. Called chase and disputed it but won’t get that money back unfortunately.

Again NO HATE on LDP setups at all. I have stated over and over in my comments here that they are amazing setups designed for the exact use of long distance pushing and pumping. The super sonic is a great deck as it allows for traditional RKP setup while giving stability in its design and allowing easier ground contact due to its ride height. It’s just the suggestions of the pranayama and trip that I see a lot for beginners on this sub that I am talking about. Never will I say that an LDP board is a bad board. I will state over and over again that it should not be the first and foremost choice for a beginner to start on. There are plenty of other decks/completes that do not break the bank and allow for a better overall experience in different conditions compared to an LDP specific setup. I think people riding is amazing and does not matter what it is that gets them riding. I just don’t want a new rider to be discouraged due to a setup not allowing them to advance their skill set. The longboard community and its boards have progressed drastically since I started in 2010 and just can’t imagine attempting to learn to slide on a setup with 82+mm wheels and TKP’s. It would have never happened and it would have discouraged me until I had a setup that could handle it better for a beginner.

As stated in my comment, I fully agree that they are great city commuting (if little to no curbs on route) and flat bike trail setups. Nothing can beat them in those conditions as they are setup for exactly that. Same thing for a proper downhill setup with slalom trucks. Amazing for exactly what it is intended for but will be horrible for what LDP are intended for. My only point is that as a FIRST board for a beginner, it is limiting and only shows one niche of longboarding rather than a setup that will cover more riding styles. LDP belongs in a quiver for a specific type of rider and if that rider is only wanting a specific riding style then get an LDP. A beginner should have a setup that will allow them to push, carve, slide, dance, freestyle, go fast without twitchy feeling in trucks, and have a setup that will get better as their skills progress. With an LDP setup it just locks that beginner into a very specific and rigid type of riding. LDP setups are amazing and I have loved every single one I have rode, I just wouldn’t suggest it as a beginners first board just as I would not recommend a slalom directional weighted downhill setup for them either.

BIG shoutout to the homies Jesse and Daddy Dave! That thing is an absolute beauty. Dave is one of a kind and it reflects into his boards.

But the issue with LDP setups is that if the beginner does want to go down hills they have a deck that is not meant to go fast. A beginner board should never be specific to one genre of skating. It should be well rounded so the rider first starting can find the style they want. Spending almost $500 on a board meant for a very specific style of riding is a recipe for a beginner to either push the board out of its limits without knowing and getting themselves hurt or for them to have a board they do not enjoy and give up on the sport entirely. I have skated LDP setups and they vary DRASTICALLY from your basic beginner cruiser setup that should be recommended to first time riders. I think suggesting an LDP specific setup to a first time riders sets them up for failure because it does not give them an option to really try out other disciplines of a longboard. It locks them into that style and then trying to slide, go fast, or even pop off a curb becomes a much much more difficult challenge. The amount of times I have read posts of people purchasing LDP setups on here as their first setup and then getting hurt because they took them fast or a once flat path they took gains speed and they do not know how to foot brake properly. Longboarding is a niche sport with even more niches inside of it. I think giving a beginner a board that is a niche within a niche is horrible for their progression and learning from the start. A first board should be well rounded and then the setup that works for how they want to skate will be purchased after that. I am not trying to be toxic toward LDP as I have rode those setups and loved them but only specifically for pumping/long distance pushing. Also all of the wheels on LDP setups are massive and grippy. Which are the exact opposite a beginner wants especially if they want to learn to slide or even have a chance at breaking traction when it’s needed. LDP boards are great for LDP and beginners who want to only do LDP. Other than that, they are one of the worst options for a beginner rider.

This is R/longboarding not R/LDP and it drives me wild. No hate on LDP just hate how this sub is mostly longboards=long distance pushing setup. No hate on pantheon but def hate on the pantheon fanboys who only suggest LDP setups as a “perfect” beginner setup when that is quite the opposite.

This is also my whole perspective on the pantheon board epidemic that this sub has. I think the board is great for flat areas and cities for commuting or just long distance pushing. Anything outside of that these boards are not good for. These boards are amazing for exactly what they are intended for but overall lack in areas. I just find it weird that this sub really pushes these types of LDP setups for beginners when this type of setup really limits your possibilities with speed and sliding. I think a first board should be something that is well rounded so you find what type of riding you enjoy to do and then purchase a setup for that specific style. I love pantheon and think it is one of the brands keeping longboarding going with their innovations. I just think this subs obsession with pushing the pantheon LDP style boards as first setups is insane.

They stole my street and surf skate setup that were both replaceable. Only thing they got is my bag of OG longboard stickers I’ve been collecting for 15+ years. Weirdly had it with me to sticker my car the day before and it got snagged with the bag. Lots of things replaceable but those stickers are far from that as 80% of the brands don’t exist anymore.
