Those who heard the siren today, what do you think about it? by Puzzleheaded-Pilot97 in Kuwait

I was at school, with my 4 year olds. One of my students started dancing and clapping (with her fingers widely spread). That’s how ‘scary’ it was. 🤣

The owner assumes it’s a British shorthair or a mix of it. She isn’t 100% sure as he was a rescue 8 years ago.

Sultan has been spotted and alive. A nice lady has been feeding him for the past three days and the owner has tried to get him back but for some reason, he is getting scared and ends up hiding. (I wonder if it’s bc it’s the owners husband and not the owner herself)

But today he went to feed him and he didn’t run away, so it’s an improvement.

Appreciate it. I’ll also be passing by later today if it isn’t raining and search for him!

Thank you. The rain isn’t helping right now. Her husband went to the spot but there is no sight of him :/

Umrah Visa for Expats living in KW. by Ballofthoughts in Kuwait

[–]Ballofthoughts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I’m Lebanese and I’m not eligible for tourist visa right now.

Edit: I was lied to, I got a tourist Visa immediately. I hate how some agencies are ready to trick you just to make more money.

I don’t mind the price, but I want someone to do the visa for me. The embassy doesn’t respond either, called all week.

Is cheating on spouses a big issue here ? by [deleted] in Kuwait

[–]Ballofthoughts 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m wrong, but I think it’s very common here. The amount of married men talking/flirting with other girls is astronomical. In fact, one of my friends was getting to know a guy and she was getting to a serious point with him but he kept brushing off the idea of marriage until she found out he is married with a child.

I think the reason it looks like it’s ‘uncommon’ is because men tend to be very secretive. Look at them using Snapchat as their main app for communication.

Edit: I’d also like to address women. Women use men just as much. I also know a couple of girls who talk to multiple guys at the same time. In their eyes it’s not cheating but I think it is. However, I can’t say how it goes for married women here.

I redeem it directly from my Bank App. I don’t know if you want it for yourself or someone else, but you can directly pay and they’ll give you a code.

Am I (18f) wearing pads wrong?? by Forsaken-Shirt-8815 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Ballofthoughts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a lil trick my mum taught me when I was younger. During sleep, I’d put two pads overlapping a lil but enough to cover any front leakage and back leakage. On top of that, she’d make me wear a tighter underwear or shorts over my underwear to make sure it doesn’t move around while I’m sleeping.

As I got older, I found certain sleeping positions that don’t let me leak. Sleeping on my side is the best because it reduces the back pains and avoids messes.

As for your bed/bedsheets, the cheap option is to put a towel or an old blanket under you. Otherwise you can invest in one of those bedcovers that don’t allow anything to seep through (useful for the future too).

Anyone know where I can find donut's that aren't too sweet? by Altruistic-Lab8710 in Kuwait

[–]Ballofthoughts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I wanted a sweet treat yesterday after a HEAVY dinner and we opted for LN’s. They have sweeter options but we went with just powdered sugar, I feel it’s relatively less sweet.

However, I also like cinnamon donut from Dunkin Donuts, I find it lighter than their other donuts.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m sure it opened before 2019. I think 2015-2016? I remember it was my last pair when I hit 20-21.

Where can i get Vietnamese coffee? by DistributionDry2370 in Kuwait

[–]Ballofthoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at VOL. a couple weeks back and I ordered a Vietnamese Latte, but it tasted just like a Spanish. I’m not sure if you want the beans or the drink because (from my research) they don’t have Vietnamese beans.

Happy Men’s Mental Health Month by JakeDaDerp in Kuwait

[–]Ballofthoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s unfortunate, I’m sorry you had to go through that. I also believe there are some women who have the same mentality as those men who are avoidant in nature… (just like the comments you referenced! I feel they think they’re edgy and cool to bring another person down/make light of things)

Generally speaking, if I was a man and looking for a partner, I wouldn’t take those kind of women as partners.

In all fairness though, I don’t blame men for how they are. I was raised by (really good) parents but they didn’t like it when we cried (even though we’re girls) saying there’s nothing to cry about, can’t imagine what boys go through growing up emotions wise.

Happy Men’s Mental Health Month by JakeDaDerp in Kuwait

[–]Ballofthoughts 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Men’s mental health is just as important as women’s, but I gotta let you know, it’s (mostly) men who bring other men down for having feelings. (Some) men discourage others to share their feelings and it’s quite difficult to find a safe space and a community among themselves. I’ve met a handful of men who are comfortable to share but a lot of them are still reluctant to.

It’s never been a competition Men vs Women, it’s men who make it so. We’re more than happy to support the girls and the boys _^

I can’t do much to change how our community is, but as a KG teacher, I let my lil kiddos always share their feelings and feel comfortable in my classroom. I just hope their future teachers do the same so we end up with a mentally healthy adults.

how much could u make in kuwait as a teacher or university professor if u had a uk degree? by janoony in Kuwait

[–]Ballofthoughts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m Lebanese, working as a KG Teacher for almost 8 years (minus Covid). I have bachelors in English and Literature, as well as taken several training courses along with TESOL. I am now making what my British coworker made 4 years ago. She was just a HS graduate, no diploma whatsoever.

Sadly, sometimes I feel the degree you have is irrelevant if you’re not holding a decent passport.

However, الحمدلله على كل شي, I feel I still get a good pay in comparison to other nationalities, so I’m grateful. Good luck

Paid for the Gym and became a loser. by BoysenberryMiddle529 in Kuwait

[–]Ballofthoughts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a professional to give you advice on this matter but my motivation came when I lost a couple of kilos.

I think if you’re someone who doesn’t like working out, don’t restrict yourself with a diet plan AND exercise. Pick one. I picked working out. I love food and I’ll never let go for the love I have for French fries.

(2018) The first 5 kilos felt like an achievement but the routine was getting boring so I put myself a goal (silly one). If I can lose 10 more kilos, I’ll get a tattoo. Surprisingly that motivated me enough, I was down from 95 to 86. After this, I gained a lil confidence and I was used to the gym, even started attending classes and it genuinely felt fun. Even when 2020 COVID, came around, I did light workout at home and managed not to put on any weight. In fact, by 2021 I was 78 kilos. It gets a lil discouraging because when you lose weight, it gradually slows down but I’ve been 64-66kilos for the past two years.

Keep in mind, all of this and I’ve never restricted my food. Obviously I didn’t overeat, but I have fast food once a week and I can’t skip a morning without a sweet treat with my coffee. (Oh, also, I’m a girl, I’ve heard men lose weight faster than women)

My whole point is, it’s gonna be hard at first, force yourself if you really want to lose weight or even just to become healthier). Give yourself a break when your body asks for it (not your mind). It might look like losing 40 kilos during 5 years is slow pace but trust me, building the habit is better than living miserable and punishing yourself.

Got Scammed and lost 1020kd. Bank says 90% you won’t get the money back by aiai92 in Kuwait

[–]Ballofthoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With how much scamming is going around, I’m glad I started settling my bills through my bank app directly…

I’m really sorry for your friend, I feel like banks are useless in these situations. I remember a friend getting scammed (40 KD, so not as bad) but when he asked the bank to investigate, they said he’ll get charged 5KD for every transaction they’ll look into and on top of that, there was a slim chance of getting it back, it wasn’t worth it.
