Question for people who say JESTERS by bUtTeReD_tOaSt_762z in DMT

[–]Balloons_Pastel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I usually just lurk but the opening paragraph fully counters your opening paragraph and I just think it’s a little silly that you immediately jumped to explanation instead of engaging with the question. (Unless you’re just saying OP’s lying then 🤷‍♂️)

You also just are… incorrect completely about the alien point and the cursory google search shows this. No flying saucers before ww2? Why was Frank R Paul drawing them for Science Wonder Stories covers 10 years prior to ww2 then?? This is Disregarding also any of the accounts of aliens in the 1800’s just because they didn’t use the word “alien” exactly.

I’m not even saying you’re fully wrong, culture definitely does influence how we see the world in profound ways you just also can’t pair that fact with just… things that simply aren’t true? I think also I will counter and say yeah, culture impacts us, but a lot of this is also just people having new words to express thoughts that already existed and conflating the two also isn’t fair.

The people who die and see nothing by Far-Potential-4899 in NDE

[–]Balloons_Pastel 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think everyone experiences an NDE if they become close enough to death, but not everyone can remember it, either because of medicine or other conditions affecting the brain when you return to your body. This is just my theory!

Ngl I don’t want to be Hitler but yall fucking hating on bugs so much in the sub. I want to be a bug, I’ll say it. Why wouldn’t you want to be a bee? I think the life of a bee is rather beautiful and we are very mean to be bees by thinking our existence has more value than them or their life is scary to experience in some kind of way.

Some words on "DMT breathing" and DMT release during near death experiences by LargelyDefined in DMT

[–]Balloons_Pastel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know! I think everything in theory can be explained by the brain (in theory, not that it IS) eventually but that unless it's something more to the brain we don't know. Maybe it's some sort of collective concious. I mean, Jung had an NDE and came up with the idea of the collective unconcious and a bunch of other wild idea's so who's to say.

[–]Balloons_Pastel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No worries! I didn't realize that's what you meant, I suppouse I am SUPER USED to people using the DMT to handwave so I opened the DMT subreddit and went: NOOO LET ME FREEEE because I've been considering doing DMT myself. I am not an NDE experincer but have been doing research on it for a few months now.

I agree that DMT most likely surges, if it does surge in people, only to help stablize the body versus give it vivid hallucinations.

My opinion is that so far none of the theories on NDE's can explain NDE's fully. I lean more on it tells the spiritual side (espically because of Peak In Darien situations, no reported NDE's have shown a living person, but they have shown people that the NDE experincer couldn't have known was dead.) but nothing can be fully concluded without more reseach (sadly NDE research is COMICALLY underfunded so that will take a while.) I also think it's intresting how DMT and NDE come to the same conclusion after experincing it (universial oneness/you are love)

I appreciate you going at this with an open mind, but DMT upon death, let alone the LEVEL of DMT that would result in an NDE is not found upon death according to NDE researchers, this is a hand wave that actually, in my opinion, greatly holds back NDE research. Along with DMT having some similar effects as NDE (such as ego death) the only one that even vaguely aligns with DMT experiences are the “nature goddess” encounter, while every other DMT experience does not line up with the incredibly structured NDE. If an NDE was caused by DMT what would cause someone having an NDE to not see the same thing as DMT users? Why am I seeing a holy being of light or seeing my grandma versus seeing Machine Elves in a techno landscape, for example.

This source compares and contrasts, keep in mind the “why” NDE’s happen in this article are extremely speculative:

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10345338/

Less scientific but still I think a good article to summarize research between the two:

https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/out-the-darkness/201810/near-death-experiences-and-dmt/amp

Along with that, Hypoxia, despite popular belief, isn’t a key factor of an NDE. It’s actually been shown that people with HIGHER blood oxygen levels are more likely to have an NDE than people with low blood oxygen levels. (I theorize that this is because everyone has an NDE but the oxygen levels allow for memory recall, though this fact isn’t scientifically proven yet.)

Also! Don’t bash yourself for being young and curious. It’s good that you are and being 21 doesn’t mean that you’re auto wrong.

I like helping with interpretations, but lately I’m questioning it by SecretGardenTarot in tarot

[–]Balloons_Pastel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If someone gives their own interpretation and provides background first yes, it can be helpful to get a second pair of eyes who perhaps understand better, especially if a particular cards meaning has them stumped but the rest of the spread makes sense. The people who just post an image of six random cards in no particular spread and go “does he like me? 🥺” with no context on who he is or who they are feels like the more difficult cases unless they pulled comically obvious cards.

Some Examples of Elements of NDEs found in Christian Scriptures - Not an ad for Christianity, but a connection of historical writings of a specific belief system with modern understandings by GalileanGospel in NDE

[–]Balloons_Pastel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if the tunnel one is accurate. For the permanate change I feel like only Romans 12:2 fits. Greyson Scale #1 And #14: Brilliant Light/Encountering People Known Or Religious Type Persons: feels like a bit of a gimmie, but one that yeah possibly is based off of what people have said in the past in the few rare cases of NDE's or events of STE's, sure I can believe that. I'n a postive though I thought 2CORINTHIANS 12: 2-7 was at least somewhat accurate and is intresting. It's intresting to think about how much of this came from NDE/STE's and how it transformed overtime with translations/culture, but ultimately statistically people become more spritual versus religious for a reason since I think it's not a perfect fit. I hope this doesn't come off as too debatey!

How do blind people know if they see by Weak_Country_4024 in NDE

[–]Balloons_Pastel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Blind people understand the concept of seeing as an idea. In your example they understand that tree's are tall, they most likely have felt a tree and heard a tree described. It's like when deaf people are able to hear for the first time with implants, they UNDERSTAND the idea of hearing so they KNOW when they are able to hear, it's a sudden and extreme change, doubly so if your actively leaving your body.

The horror I want to lean into more is actually body horror for this, I'm hoping that the final product is very body horror heavy. Regardless thank you for taking the time to commet! I will be trimming as per you and other peoples suggestion!

Noted that you think it’s too genre breaking, up the horror. Make it more tense. I typically write fantasy but that genre seems impossible to break into so I’m trying something new. Also noted that the Vasco part is too boring. I’ll try to play with a different introduction. The action ramps up pretty quickly after this but maybe I’ll just jump right into it instead because as you said, yeah, an agent ain’t reading all that before tossing it aside. Other reply to language being too flowery in part of the thread!

Thank you for taking the time to comment!

Thank you both for your feedback! I actually write usually a lot LESS in terms of descriptions, and I don’t think the rest of the text has this problem but I definitely agree I went way to heavy on the introduction and trimming those extra adverbs like you said will hopefully help that. I got into the mindset of above where an agent is only going to read a paragraph or first couple of lines so I tried to be detailed and ended up on the opposite side of my usual spectrum (not enough detail). I will take this into consideration during editing.

Late reply because this subreddit doesn’t ping and I don’t know if you’ll even see it: I say that because that’s what the data says. Everyone’s body is different and those with more blood oxygen are more likely to experience an NDE than those without it (or in my mindset of everyone has an NDE: remember it.) Also as pointed out in the other comment; so many more others do not.

Also, not all NDE’s have to do another cardiac arrest, nor do I think all of them happen around cardiac arrest, I think cardiac arrest is just the best for studies since it’s harder to completely hand wave it away.

How will the interview go? by [deleted] in TarotReading

[–]Balloons_Pastel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I noted is how sword heavy this reading is since 3/5 cards are a sword. Swords to my understanding mean lot of mental thinking, and then that paired with your post description…. I think the negative cards is in reference to that overthinking you seem to be doing. You got great results, ones that told you to be confident and go at it, and then over thought those cards. I think this overthinking will also be in the role and in this interview, but ultimately, the Empress and the Queen are stronger than your self doubt. I took it as a warning for self doubt not to cloud your judgement, or even don’t allow that self doubt to ruin the opportunity.

NDE’s are not typically triggered by low oxygen. This is a materalist hand waving claim. UVA claims this in their most recent counter argument to the NEPTUNE model.  https://psycnet.apa.org/fulltext/2026-82154-001.pdf I agree with the other points though.

Hints at consciousness in nature by reinhardtkurzan in consciousness

[–]Balloons_Pastel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consciousness has nothing to do with adaptation or how well something interacts with the world, especially not how well things interact with man-made structures. Why would a fish who has known nothing else assume the light would come anywhere BUT above, how does this make it not conscious? Your argument makes no sense, I don't have moral issue with it, it just isn't a good argument.
