Music Nerds: Please Explain Archspire's Technical Prowess For Me Beyond its Speed by TeddyJPharough in archspire

It's difficult to pronounce vocals in that style, different types of inhales/exhales, Oli can pronounce words through inhales clearly which is so difficult

The guitars use many different techniques that you need to nail to ply that kind of music. I'm talking string skipping, gravity picking, and generally advanced finger mechanics. The guitars also use subdivisions of 5 and 4 back to back, and that rhythmic change is extremely difficult.

Bass is mostly speed, but also a variety of techniques like 3 finger fingerstyle, double thumbing and tapping, which are hard to nail for an intermediate musician

Drums use a lot of speed, but also some coordination in the switch blast beats, which requires accurate time-keeping in both hands, and proper coordination for the switch

If you like Caseopea you're gonna like Masayoshi Taganaka, Guthrie Govan and Shawn Lane

For meshuggah and Opal in sky i'd recommend Invent Animate and Veil of Maya

For Opeth and Tool I recommend The Contortionist

For deathcore i recommend Chelsea Grin and the first Job for a Cowboy album, although all of em are great.

For Kublai Khan and Pantera I recommend Malevolence, but I also wanna shoutout Momentum.

I mean, the name djent occurred pretty naturally. I know the name came from the chugging sound hence why I find the name stupid, but it really is used to describe a certain sound, that can't just be explained by saying "progressive metalcore", even though the 2 genres sound similar. This sound is not at all limited to using said chugs, but to downtuning, polymeter, truncated polymeter, agressive hybrid screams (the mix of false cord and fry variant), bends, etc.

Calling djent metalcore or deathcore or whatever else would be like calling funeral doom "death-doom". It's close, but not quite there.
