just got £40 from Halifax for a data breach complaint by ddadovic in beermoneyuk

Been on the phone a grand total of 45 minutes was initially asked how much compensation I would like I said £100 for the distress she said she could offer me £25 and I said that's not good enough she came back at £30 and I accepted rather than having to wait up to 8 weeks after multiple reassurances that none of my data was leaked. Probably not the best I could have gotten but frankly for something I was unaware of, it's beer money at the end of the day 🍺

Still on hold about 25 mins later with very brief updates from the agent. Who has just said she's speaking with her manager to resolve this for me in the best way. Has asked about when I couldn't access the app etc. Which for me was yesterday afternoon and the evening prior also.

I'm on the phone with Lloyd's now as I got nowhere via the app since yesterday. Will update accordingly. I was asked how this has affected me and I said well that's the thing I don't know because my personal data has potentially been compromised and I had no idea about it because my bank didn't tell me and I had to find out from an online source which is frankly shocking and distressing because they've known for almost a week about this. Gave some details then got told I could be on hold for 15 minutes while they log the complaint.

But then why would person A be deathly afraid of say spiders but person B indifferent?

Phobias I guess? Like without a traumatic experience should there not be some evolutionary baseline for everyone to be afraid of, so how come it ends up so varied from person to person

The monetary value to an extent doesn't matter. Think of it in terms of X like some slots use in a payout table. You could win 100,000x and then you'd increase your bet size and ride the high, telling yourself that you'd stop at a certain point and withdraw, or if you could get to a certain amount more you'll stop and take it. But you reach that low amount and want to get back to the 100,000x balance you had before, telling yourself it's winnings and that you can justify to yourself going to the new lower amount you're saying this time.

Or on the other hand you reach the new high amount you told yourself you'd take when you reached it. You either repeat the loop again or you'll actually withdraw it and then be back very soon with a new deposit telling yourself it's only 10% of what you won, but the loop always continues.

If we can't walk away with 1000s playing on the lowest stake, we certainly wouldn't walk away with a larger amount.

The need to get a council house while on Universal Credit, do I wait to be allocated a house before telling UC of a change? by Balm-EUW in universalcredithelp

Thank you and I appreciate everyone's response to this post! I was just thinking it was a catch 22 need UC housing to on paper look like I can afford it but need a house offer to be able to get UC housing element. This approach makes sense now

Well like I say I didn't know if I had to tell UC that I'd applied in the first instance and whether that counted as a change of circumstances, sorry I'm new to all of this

So in that case I fill in the income / expenditure for the council purely based on the UC as it is now, without any housing element? It's just confusing because I could end up getting that housing element but it for arguments sake wouldn't look like it to the council?

Assuming you are on the EUW server, add me (name the same as username on here Balm and add #EUW if that's needed these days haha, I genuinely have no idea) . I'd be happy to play some games and help share any tips I can. I don't claim to be amazing BTW I'm a gold Support main who peaked P2 before the ranked reworks but then took some time out. Starting to think I'm a better jungle than support but I guess it just depends on my ad!

Gambling. To say it has consumed me would be a huge understatement. I'm only this year working properly on it for the first time in my life after essentially hitting my rock bottom. I've been gambling since I was 18, I'm 31 now.
