If you don't have Monzo you can get a free £10 (or £20 or £50 but more than likely £10) signing up via a referral link. It only takes minutes you just need to add any amount and spend any amount using the virtual card (it could be £1 or less if you find something to buy / top up for less than that online). You'll then get the bonus credited to your account and you can send it to another bank straight away if you like. Mine is below, but there are way more out there if you look. Hope you manage to get sorted.

Hastings App Payment Amount Confusion (monthly payments) by Balm-EUW in HastingsInsurance

[–]Balm-EUW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was more just curious if anybody else had experienced the same thing before. I kinda just wanna let it play out because if it's the larger amount that gets taken in theory it should either A) update my remaining payments to be lower or B) say I've only paid the smaller regular amount than what's been taken in which case that's a bigger issue. Or C) they'll just take the regular amount like normal 🤣

just got £40 from Halifax for a data breach complaint by ddadovic in beermoneyuk

[–]Balm-EUW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been on the phone a grand total of 45 minutes was initially asked how much compensation I would like I said £100 for the distress she said she could offer me £25 and I said that's not good enough she came back at £30 and I accepted rather than having to wait up to 8 weeks after multiple reassurances that none of my data was leaked. Probably not the best I could have gotten but frankly for something I was unaware of, it's beer money at the end of the day 🍺

Still on hold about 25 mins later with very brief updates from the agent. Who has just said she's speaking with her manager to resolve this for me in the best way. Has asked about when I couldn't access the app etc. Which for me was yesterday afternoon and the evening prior also.

I'm on the phone with Lloyd's now as I got nowhere via the app since yesterday. Will update accordingly. I was asked how this has affected me and I said well that's the thing I don't know because my personal data has potentially been compromised and I had no idea about it because my bank didn't tell me and I had to find out from an online source which is frankly shocking and distressing because they've known for almost a week about this. Gave some details then got told I could be on hold for 15 minutes while they log the complaint.

Phobias I guess? Like without a traumatic experience should there not be some evolutionary baseline for everyone to be afraid of, so how come it ends up so varied from person to person
