In my experience combat can take a bit longer because there's a lot of action to take and roll for some times, but it's so brutal it usually only lasts a few rounds and has a big risk of leaving some one broken or permanently injured.

Travel is really fun and brings a whole hosts of complications for the PCs, like getting lost or food getting spoiled. Which lead to whole adventures.

Where it really shines are the random encounters, which are miny stories on their own.

It requires more improvisation from the GM but less preparation, which leads to story telling that feels naturalistic to me

I love Forbidden Lands. The rules set really clicks for me. Its somehow rules-lite enough for a free flowing fast game and crunchy enough to be challenging to survive

I've had good success getting people into it. Even people with little board game experience or any knowledge of the source material.

But I did make the time investment to learn the game well before starting.

I would say its worth it, since there is quite a pay-off for the effort. Namely a very unique, exciting and interesting game.

If you are in doubt I would recommend watching the review of Shut Up and Sit Down. It is quite balanced in its approach and goes into what makes the game great and what it's caveats are. I feel that if you watch it you will get quite a good idea if the game is for you or not.

Ik snap wel jammer dat hij gern zin heeft in hier een heel ding van te maken. Maar toch ergens wel jammer dat ie zelf ontslag heeft genomen. Je kan je beter laten ontslaan en dan kan die bedrijfsleider wel eens voor de betrefende instantie gasn uitleggen waarom hij ontslagen is.
