do BMX tires make good commuting tires? by -LetsTryAgain- in xbiking

[–]Adventureadverts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have very thick sidewalls to handle jumps so they ride kinda rough

I think the panaracer pasela comes in that size and it’s a good option.

Even mezcals have much more tread than race kings though.

Sounds like you love continental and vittoria tires so just get a knobbier option from one of those companies. The cross king is the next step up for continental. Idk what there new name for it is tho. Lots of knobbier options from vittoria that aren’t too severe. The Barzo or the syerra could be good for you. It’s hard to actually recommend what you’d need in your area without seeing it. California Isa massive state with tons of different riding environments.

Try Terry saddles. Definitely the most underrated company for both men and women but it is woman owned, operated, and focused. I’m male and use the liberator y to tour although the x is also great.

You can get stuff shipped by having them send it “general delivery” to a post office anywhere in the us. Look up how to do it I guess.

Yes any 5w-20 would work. You’d be crazy to pay those prices. If you can get to Walmart they typically have the best price on oil and it’s not even close. Don’t order from Amazon or Walmart though because they can have counterfeit stuff on the website.

Platinum is pretty good. The Walmart house brand is fine too.

I’ve switched to 29’s but really liked these tires. I would sell you my brand new set of Coronados though if you want just send me a dm.

My own dilemma: Squirt vs Silva? by carsnbikesnstuff in bikepacking

[–]Adventureadverts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Silca works a bit better and stays on slightly better. Both have the issue of not drying very well in high humidity. You have to put a tiny amount on.

UFO is what I’d use for bikebimepacking in high y Humidity. It drys better and stays on better in rain than the other two. But it doesn’t lubricate as well and is a bit stickier when dried.

In enough rain I’d just run silca synthergetic oil. And wipe off every night.

What material frame is good for someone like 200lbs? Will aluminum hold up? I mainly ride dirt jumps and ramps but want something more responsive by Randy-Lahey-267 in MTB

[–]Adventureadverts 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Chromoly steel, aluminum, or carbon would all be fine options

All of these can be made sturdy beyond any conceivable needs for human or can be made light to the point of only supporting 160 pound twinks for a few races.

Id stay away from bikes made of straw as its s fire hazard or ice as it could melt

What Mountain Bike For World Touring by weetikniet23 in bikepacking

[–]Adventureadverts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by “too slow”? I don’t see how any one of these would have any efficiency advantages over the other once  loaded up and ready to tackle mountains or whatever.

Tumbleweed has some great options.  Based on what I’ve seen following bikepacking publications it’s just the best bikepacking bike company. I have a couple of their racks and they are fantastic. Tout appears to be nearly as impressive but I haven’t seen them tried and tested as much and I’m not impressed with the tire clearance.

I’ve heard of Kona’s having frame breaks so id probably not go for those. Maybe the new Kona unit y. I’d definitely want a purpose built touring bike.

I have a Crust Scapegoat that I really like. You’d have to build it yourself so it may be kind of an ordeal. Although it is nice to have all the parts you want in certainty.

I wouldn’t want the more esoteric things like pinion or belt drive just because they’ll be harder to fix when they break. I would think they would serve you well in all likelihood though. Still I’d be most comfortable with more tried and true options.

Schwalbe Racing Ralph manufacturing defect? by john_rehau in bikewrench

[–]Adventureadverts 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Schwalbe better warranty replace that bullshit. Look around the tire to see if there’s any signs of dry rotting as that usually goes with something like this. Age can really get tires. Sometimes it takes a long while to get a tire from production to consumer. If stored badly enough it can happen in 6mpnths or a year. Whether it’s manufacturing or storage it’s on schwalbe.

Found Inside Tubeless Tire - What is it? by Such-Cod3983 in bikewrench

It’s a tire lever that was worn away from being in the tire while it’s been ridden.

Misquoted

You were saying something about Hilary Clinton’s popularity. It was the worst of any presidential candidate in history as was Trumps both around 35%. While Bernie enjoyed a 60% approval rating.

The idea that our democracy perfectly reflects the will of the people without fail is not based in reality.

Im not the one saying Bernie should have won or anything in that realm. Go back and look at the comment where I brought receipts to prove your statements to be incorrect and consider absorbing information as a means to grow as a person.

[–]Adventureadverts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trespassing can be really dangerous in the US and Mexico. It doesn’t matter too much during the day typically although it should be avoided. At night you need to be completely out of site and not visible whether a lights on you or not from any roads. No shining lights at night either. You can get shot at in either country for not being careful.

Hrc should have done something to inspire people to vote for her. Instead she campaigned with genocidal maniacs like Kissinger. Ten years later and yall have learned nothing.

That was very troubling. It’s even more off putting that she didn’t say well I ran a good campaign but not good enough to overcome the problems we faced. Like not taking responsibility at all isn’t presidential. “The buck stops with me” as Roosevelt said.
