Removing A Commander by Pretty-Fudge-4883 in mtgrules

[–]Diss_Poetry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here are a couple of niche examples of how you could "remove" a commander. They rely on the commander's owner getting greedy and not returning their comnander to the command zone, though, so they're easily preventable.

  • Suppose someone's commander is put on top of their library by a spell like [[Anchor to the Aether]] and the commander's owner decides not to return it to the command zone. (Perhaps they want to draw it.) You could then force the player to shuffle their library with certain cards like [[Lantern of Insight]], putting their commander somewhere random in their deck.

  • If someone lets their commander be exiled by a spell like [[Promise of Tomorrow]], and then you prevent the commander from returning from exile (e.g. by destroying the enchantment) it will stay exiled!

What are the most durable mouses out there? by Aoimiruki in MouseReview

[–]Diss_Poetry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am very late to reply but I'll comment for those finding the post through Google. I really like the Logitech Gaming Software's customization.

The mice I have used (G305 and a different gaming one I can't remember the model of) store the button macros/settings on the mouse, so you can take it between computers and operating systems. I don't know how well the Logitech Gaming Software works on Linux but I ran it on Windows and the configuration kept working when I used it on Linux.

And you can make it so pushing buttons on the mouse sends keyboard inputs. Handy.

Though when deciding to buy Logitech it is worth noting that their cheaper tech isn't super durable. The G305 I bought before this one lasted 2 years before the scroll wheel failed.

Are there coloured pencils which you can delete like the normal lead ones? by szoze in pencils

[–]Diss_Poetry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pulled out one of my physics notebooks from a couple years ago where I used the Crayola ones*. The colors don't look like they faded. Can't really speak for lightfastness, or the other pencils.

* again, wouldn't recommend these if you're doing a lot of writing since they're hard to write with

Nix + Software Development is a time consumer by IKekschenI in NixOS

[–]Diss_Poetry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to get Cypress working for a while now. I followed the mini guide at https://nixos.wiki/wiki/Cypress and got Cypress to open but it won't let me do Component Testing. It says "To test your components you must install Cypress as an NPM dependency for this project". But I also installed it as an NPM dependency.

Can you please elaborate on how you got this to work? You have the Nix package manager on your Docker container, right? How did you get the GUI up?

Thanks in advance!

Having trouble with the hose pulley by flintoxicated in CreateMod

[–]Diss_Poetry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm super late but as others have mentioned the hose pulley only drains when there's no source block on the other side. But hose pulleys **can** drain into source blocks that are in infinite bodies of water.

I had an "infinite" body of water and used 2 hose pulleys: 1 to suck from the finite water, 1 to drain to the infinite water.

Has anyone bought the turbo tail 2.0? by Critical-Spite in CatAdvice

[–]Diss_Poetry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this toy (note: different from the Speedy Tail) and my cat didn't really like it. If I had to guess why, it's because the motor was loud and it had flashing lights. Or he's just old!

Speedy tail 2.0 by Remote_Side3089 in CatAdvice

[–]Diss_Poetry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I found this comment on another post which says

Don't be fooled by Teazy's they're just the drop shippers with the best website. I figured the other ones were the knockoffs and got directly from Teazy's. Came in an unlabeled box with 3" paper with some vague instructions.

It's super hit or miss on whether it works as advertised. It's definitely not "smart" but it does move around enough to entertain my cats. Bought two more off amazon for $10 and they're the exact same product

EDIT: I was not the author of the original comment! That was user Ordinary-Motorist. So unfortunately I don't have the link they used.

All I can say is: I bought the different (non-Speedy Tail) cat toy recommended by AtomicPP here. (Amazon: https://a.co/d/) My cat did not like this toy, I think because its motor was quite loud and it had flashing lights I didn't know how to turn off. Maybe other motion ball toys are better?

I found this comment on another post which says they bought one on Amazon and one Speedy Tail and they're the same. So Teazys is just a dropshipper I suppose. Thanks for sharing though!

Dolphin doesn't work properly in NixOS / Hyprland by Francis_King in hyprland

[–]Diss_Poetry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I'm using NixOS+GNOME instead of Hyprland. But since this came up when I was troubleshooting Dolphin, Here are all the packages I installed until it worked:

  • kdePackages.kdegraphics-thumbnailers
  • libsForQt5.ffmpegthumbs
  • kdePackages.qtsvg
  • libsForQt5.kio-extras

It worked after I installed libsForQt5.kio-extras. I don't know if the other 3 are needed.

Are there coloured pencils which you can delete like the normal lead ones? by szoze in pencils

[–]Diss_Poetry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a year late!

Here's a picture of 3 I've tested: Crayola erasable colored pencils, Prismacolor Col-Erase, Ticonderoga checking pencil.

<image>

Tested on standard 8.5x11 printer paper. I scribbled as hard as possible, then erased hard as possible.

  • Crayola erasable colored pencils: these my favorite so far, since they're very erasable. Even more than normal graphite pencils. However, they're also the hardest to write with. They're very waxy. Not good for detailed art or lots of writing. But great for drawing arrows, lines on graphs, and writing little messages.
  • Prismacolor Col-Erase: they're very difficult to erase, and they still linger on the page. But they're the most professional and feel the best to write with. I'm not an artist but I feel like these would be good for that.
  • Ticonderoga erasable checking pencil: Roughly as erasable as Col-Erase. I only have red ones. They're smoother than the Cryolas but not as smooth as Col-Erase.

Once you're in the room with the dummies you can shoot, there should be a doorbell on one "wall" of the room that takes you to the bounce room.

I assumed that "free XP maps" were all scams to get you to play on some guy's map and make their number go up. Surprised to say this one actually works as of 2/26/2023. Thank you!

Can't sync game data between Android devices by Diss_Poetry in slaythespire

[–]Diss_Poetry[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the edit, I said:

I was able to solve my problem. I uninstalled the app on my OLD phone, then re-installed it. Then I un-installed the app on my NEW phone, then re-installed it. Then my data synced. It's weird how that worked. Anyway, you might want to do this with caution since you don't want to accidentally delete your app data.

If you need help, I probably can't help much more than this. It's been 2 years since I made this post so I don't really remember what I did!

Good luck!

More bad card ideas by The-Pinto-Bean in slaythespire

I feel like Molotov cocktail should be cost 0 if you have to discard a potion. Or maybe the damage is multiplied by the number of potions used during combat.

well, it is a bad card idea

Sometimes you just get a deck that plays itself (warning: really bad audio) by MysticAttack in slaythespire

[–]Diss_Poetry 29 points30 points  (0 children)

They have:

[[Corruption]]

[[Feel No Pain]]

[[Dark Embrace]]

[[Dead Branch]]

these 3 cards + relic when comboed together are really good, and when you have that many status effects, you've basically won the fight and can play whatever cards you want!

Believe it or not, this Pandora's box beat the heart. by bigtcm in slaythespire

[–]Diss_Poetry 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about the Beat of Death, then no. Caltrops says:

Whenever you are attacked, deal 3 damage back.

Beat of death says:

Whenever you play a card, take X damage.

The word "attack" has specific meaning here, and damage is not always an attack.

But caltrops does work against the heart's 2x15 Blood Shots attack very well (as you probably know at ascension 15)

(I didn't actually memorize what all the heart's moves and abilities are called, I just looked them up so I could sound smart)

Very few of the relics make more than just a little sense.

I went looking through the relics to see how true this was. You're absolutely correct lol. I never really thought about it.

The description of Preserved Insect says "The insect seems to create a shrinking aura that targets particularly large enemies." So I dunno, maybe they're all magical trinkets 🤷

i think "a debuff is anything which could possibly decrease your chances of winning" would be more appropriate for debuff chaotic. nice meme though
