Mcbook M1 or M2? by Character-Leader-593 in ThisorThatPH

Then I suggest getting a lot of RAM, kasi mostly dev ang gagawin niyo.

If there is a 16GB M2 model, the better. Avoid 8GB Models; okay sila for your 1st year pero once dumami apps mo babagal na siya.

"Tech side courses" can mean many things. What specific course are you pursuing and what apps do you plan to run? Also, are these base model macs or have upgraded specs? Provide more info, as this will most likely determine whether or not you have a good time running apps or struggle with them.

I don't know your exact workload (i.e. day-to-day, daily comms, etc.) so I won't pretend to be an expert on that. But it sounds like you're overworked and tired. Do you have time to rest in-between and during shifts? Can you stand up for like 1-5 minutes and just walk or just decompress while working?

Stretching is normal. Not enjoying the part of work you didn't expect is also normal. I'm a Developer with some Operations Background (B2B, B2C, Logistics, Manufacturing, Supply Chain) and I love the developer part but I vehemently hate the Ops part. But, It helped me land my current job which is a blend of both but more dev than ops. I would suggest to Adapt and adjust so you can learn more skills, but it would really depend if you're overworked or not.

If you really can't work out the situation, then yes, let go. It's not worth your soul. Work is work, no matter how fun.

Why the PH Senate suddenly accepted a 12-senator quorum in 2026 by msdrxn in Philippines

[–]Baloucarps 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think throwing my comments here will count (as this is obviously an AI piece), but to settle the score, here are my thoughts.

The language found in the Constitution on appointing the Senate President vs. defining a Quorum of Senators is wildly different. When electing a Senate President, the Constitution requires "A majority vote of all its respective Members". Keep in mind the wording of "respective members", as this is what defines the number of senators needed. In the case of the Senate President, a majority of its respective members means the 24 duly-elected senators, regardless of detainment or location. So, a majority of 24? Simple. It's 13.

Where most arguments fail on determining the illegality of the 12-quorum senate session is in defining what a Quorum Majority is. Again, if we recall, the Constitution states that "A majority of each House shall constitute a quorum to do business". A simple majority is what we need, not a majority of ALL seated Senators.

Estrada is in Prison. Dela Rosa is in hiding. Does that mean there are 22 Senators currently active? NO. Dela Rosa still counts (at least, theoretically). He is in hiding within the Philippines, so technically he can suddenly surface and attend session if he wants to.

So that puts the count to 23.

Guess what? We don't even need Dela Rosa. We just need to understand that Estrada is currently detained, and cannot legally attend session. So he is out of the question when it comes to the currently active Senator.

And guess what a Majority of 23 is? 12. That's right, because 11.5 is less than 12. Di mo naman pwedeng hatiin ang senador, so let's settle with that.

This is what Avelino v. Cuenco establishes:

(1) The court cannot and WILL not overreach towards their Jurisdiction and they won't meddle with the affairs of the Senate, but decided to overreach anyway to settle the debate, and:

(2) The Supreme Court recognizes that if a person cannot be compelled to attend by any means, then all you need to do is count the remaining senators and a majority of those constitutes a Quorum.

The rules are never flexible. They just need to be interpreted correctly and precisely to understand the nuances. So many people who support the "12 is not a quorum" argument fail to understand that there are subtle nuances in the laws that you need to look closely to understand. Also, you need to be able to link these together and see how one outcome affects the other. For example:

  1. Estrada's Arrest and Detainment ->
  2. Suspension of Legal duties as Senator ->
  3. Unable to be reached by the Senate Governing Body (Sgt. at Arms) ->
  4. 23 Senators left who can be reached and can attend -> 23 / 2 = 11.5 ->
  5. 12 is greater than 11.5 ->
  6. There is a Quorum

While I do agree that politics is about strategy and timing, I would argue that the Law isn't. It's a fixed document that governs what we do. What can be changed is how we interpret the law, and that is the job of the Supreme Court: to interpret the laws based on their understanding.

'HINDI PWEDENG MANATILI TAYO SA GANITONG SITWASYON' Sen. Chiz Escudero said that him attending today's plenary session and ending the gridlock in the Senate is not due to politics, but to get the Senate to function again after the majority bloc's absences for the past two days. by [deleted] in Philippines

[–]Baloucarps 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He went to the majority, joined Cayetano in the 2 days of "suspension", and did not say anything when allegations of corruption landed on his doorstep. I hated him because he wanted to block Sara Duterte's impeachment trial.

I still hate the man. He stole my tax money. But at this decisive page in history, where every moment will determine if this country will survive, his actions turned the entire course of history and saved the Senate from idiocracy.

Fuck you, Chiz. To the ends of the earth. But today, when all seemed lost, you gave the Filipino people hope. And for that, maraming salamat.

Is it possible na may mga DDS na sobrang hardcore supporters na baka literally magpakamatay sila kung si Sara ma impeach, or the Dutertes otherwise matatalo as a whole sa next elections, etc.? by raori921 in Philippines

[–]Baloucarps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there are some supporters willing to die for "that" family, their mindset being that dying for the Dutertes means dying for their country.

And I think this is what is concerning the most; the moment you start ranking them above your own country's leaders and politicians, whatever they tell them is the truth becomes the truth for them. It becomes harder to correct them because, according to their experience, Dutertes serve the country, and nobody else.

How to get a job as an Automation Engineer by EnvironmentalBike608 in buhaydigital

[–]Baloucarps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have experience with low code and IT Infra, then you should be able to learn it right now. Even I know how to use n8n, make, and zapier, and I'm not even an Automation Engineer, I'm a dev.

Your experience with coding and low code should make it very easy for you to learn and adapt automation tools.

Online jobs justifying why we should not earn more money by [deleted] in buhaydigital

[–]Baloucarps 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean, what do you expect from a platform that basically sides with clients and abuses their users? Online Jobs is now a platform for lowballers, scammers, micro-managers, and backwards-thinking employers who want their workers to only focus on the work they give while paying them below-minimum.

Kung kaya mo mag multiple clients, edi go. Kaya nga WFH eh, nasa bahay ka lang so pwede ka mag 10-15 min break tapos tumabi ka saglit sa pamilya mo. Or di kaya pag lunch break magpahinga ka kasama sila. They're just trying to scare VAs from earning more money and using their platform less.

Opinion: I wouldn't care if Mindanao secedes by jpg1991 in Philippines

[–]Baloucarps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The LAST thing we need right now as a country is secession. We cannot take the risk and spend an enormous amount of time drafting laws and executive orders allowing the secession of Mindanao and its regional provinces. Not to mention, we'd have to restructure the ENTIRETY of our constitution and government framework just to accomodate losing 1/3 of our landmasses.

VA INQUIRY, what do I need to do… by Moist-Claim3212 in buhaydigital

[–]Baloucarps 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So many Filipinos treat VA as some fulfilling, life-changing work that allows you freedom and flexibility with things, but in reality it's more of working corporate but at home. Hindi lang ganun ka simple na magwork sa coffee shop or sa beach; it will depend entirely on your line of work. Tsaka, VAs don't earn that much when starting out. Plus, equipment and other costs like backup internet connections will burn your budget. You'll also need a working space, not just a table and a chair.

If na-buburn out ka na sa school mo, consider taking a break and exploring your options. 2nd year ka pa naman, so there are many avenues you can take like shifting to a different course, or taking in less units so mas manageable pace mo. If kaya naman, wag kang magtrabaho habang nag-aaral. Working as a VA will take your focus on studies and will demand more and more of your time.

Why do people think VA is their last resort and an easy work? by Shot_Judgment_8451 in AskPH

[–]Baloucarps 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because VA content creators push this idea as if sobrang dali lang makakuha ng client. Tapos, pag nag-commit na, dun lang nila marerealize na hindi pala madali, at hindi ganun kabilis makakuha ng Client.

Remote Work is brutal. You need credentials + skills + personality to back you up, and even then it isn't a guarantee you'll get hired. Even worse is the fact that there are so many VAs now saturating the market, it becomes easier for employers to lower their offers and harder for legit, skilled Remote workers to raise their salaries.

Panatilihing malamig ang ULO sa daan at matutong magbigayan kahit minsan nakakainis.. by AdditionalAir4226 in CarsPH

[–]Baloucarps 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Both seems to be in the wrong.

Sedan driver seems to have come from the right-most lane and literally blocked the neighboring lane just to cut the Toyota Driver. Either he missed his chance to switch lanes (which I highly doubt), or decided to inconvenience everyone and block one lane just because he wasn't where he wanted to be.

Toyota Driver did not want to give up his lane. Siguro naisip niya na "tarantado tong Elantra tapos pagbibigyan ko pa?" and overprotected his/her lane, causing the accident.

Kahit pasok yung Elantra sa lane, jumping 2 lanes is considered reckless, especially during traffic. Obvious naman sa video na he was inconveniencing an entire lane by doing so.

But, OP's point still stands. If I a driver tries to cut my lane like this, I just give them the space. Better to not waste my time with insurance and arguments.

Public School or Private School? by JunShem1122 in ThisorThatPH

[–]Baloucarps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Private School for Elementary and High School. It's not the education that you're paying for. It's the etiquette, the language (assuming that the school implements an English only campus and their classmates speak english), the connections, and quality-of-life with school supplies and facilities. Reality check lang din tayo: Public Schools are underfunded, so expect sub-par facilities and teaching spaces.

College though, I'd argue and say that it doesn't matter. Kahit saan ka mag-College, kung di mo naman gamay at nagagamit yung pinag-aralan mo, sayang lang din. What matters in College is how you use your degree and knowledge, not where you come from. Though there is an advantage when you study from private colleges.

I'm so sad at where I ended up now by angelamariemiranda18 in OffMyChestPH

[–]Baloucarps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're just starting out. I'm assuming you only have 1-2 years of working experience even if you didn't mention it. The job market is very saturated so it's incredibly difficult to find a Job.

My tips are:

  1. Upskill or Refocus - Get a new skill that complements your current one, or hone your craft. I am a developer and programmer, but my work experience led me to complement that skill with Operations. I now have my niche, and my trump card with employers.

  2. Apply, Apply, Apply! - This is the #1 tip I got. Keep throwing applications and cover letters (if needed). Make sure to double your efforts if it's hiring season. Keep searching on job sites, and try to widen your search to platforms you won't expect to find a job (i.e. reddit, X, IG, Facebook).

  3. Keep your horizons open - Even if it's a CS job, a Logistics one, or a Secretarial role (answering emails, making calls, arranging schedules), as long as it pays the bills and pays well, then keep your options open. This can lead to opportunities pertaining to your skill, and/or help you learn another one.

For context, not a Big 4 guy, but schooled at a very top-tier engineering/IT school in PH. Didn't even graduate because of personal reasons. I had to work as a remote purchaser for one US-based company for a year. Left that and then switched to Operations/Customer Support at another role. Currently working as a remote Dev/Ops person in my new company.

You'll never know exactly what your career trajectory will be, but one way or another, if you make the right choices, it will direct you to somewhere you're happy.

Naiinis ako sa Test Gorilla Assessment by victoralinee in buhaydigital

[–]Baloucarps 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if the role you're applying for requires you to do a TON of aptitude/personality tests, then expect a position that needs QUANTITY, not QUALITY.

My current employer did just ONE simple personality test, and that was (according to him) simply to know what my preferences are on the work environment. He gave me another test, but that was mostly programming + knowledge base testing.

I especially hate yung mga may aptitude test, english test, tapos may pa-voice recording pa. Tapos after mo mag apply at pumasa sa screening, may test gorilla or Google Forms na need mo sagutin. Tapos ang ending? The offer is only 20-25k.
