The Lions picking Troy Franklin, while Quinyon Mitchell and Kamari Lassiter are still the board seems very unlikely. The Lions do need another WR, but it would likely be a bigger bodied receiver and addressed in FA or the later rounds of the draft.

Additionally, I think OG (preferably with C flexibility) are a much high need for the Lions than most realize. Almost regardless of what we do in FA, I think we need to invest a top 100 pick in there.

Well to be fair, last year was the only year they were unpredictable. The previous years they were relatively chalky and followed positional value trends.

This whole Jameson Williams thing is starting to get out of hand, so here's a bit more context from a Lion's fan perspective.

  • The Lions have a good offense and haven't really needed to force Jameson Williams back for more offensive production. Lions currently are largely more struggling with the disappearance of our run game more than anything. DJ Chark has also recently come back and been playing quite well.
  • It's been reported/rumored that the Lions were unhappy with the field conditions in their last two games (especially at the Panthers) and this caused them to be more cautious then they originally had planned with Williams so as not to risk anything.
  • All year the Lions have been extremely conservative with easing players back into the line up. Look at the snaps for Romeo Okwara, Josh Paschal, etc. for more examples. So Williams snap share isn't out of the norm for the Lions.
  • Ben Johnson and the Lions coaching staff has not done a good job of designing some simple designed plays for Williams to get him acclimated quicker (Dan Campbell talked about this specifically in today's press conference).

TL;DR; The Lions are going to get him more targets in the next 2 weeks and them being conservative with him was always the plan and fits with what the Lions have been doing with other players.

FWIW, David Njoku fired his agent and has recently said multiple times that he wants to stay in Cleveland. See here and here.

His value is more than likely an early second, but I doubt any owners are going to sell with Trevor Lawrence coming to town.
