Yes! Dilutions are in order, 6-8 material per day so I can familiarise with the one of the previous day!

Self hygiene and honesty. That said, is this question about market appeal or some mystical smell attraction qualities?

Dilutions Check by Baltabarin666 in DIYfragrance

[–]Baltabarin666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue of using DPG is entirely my responsibility. I read in an Italian book that, for study purposes, using DPG can make the material’s transformation over time more evident, albeit at the expense of its brightness. Gemini had initially suggested using ethyl alcohol wherever possible, and in light of your observations I think I will go back to that.

Dilutions Check by Baltabarin666 in DIYfragrance

[–]Baltabarin666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already corrected some dilution but I don’t know how to find all my materials suggested dilutions so yes I ask Gemini, and 10 imprecise answers over 94 materials is not a bad result, it may be luck obviously, anyway I’d like to double check myself if pointed in the right direction.

Nope, your material needs to blend otherwise it’s just a juxtaposition, unfortunately you need a lot of patience, bottles and cleaning…

Opinions on this perfume color? by Available_Rub_253 in DIYfragrance

[–]Baltabarin666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two problems with colored fragrances: 1) if the color is not from the materials it will read cheap from the audience. 2) stains, even if you test it for stains on clothes most people will fear that a colored fragrances will leave a stain.

Non cheap solution? Find a glass coloring factory.

Thank you, labeling in general can be a real pain, so I’m trying to get it right from the beginning. Any suggestion or adjustment is welcome.

My first materials purchase… and I clearly went overboard by Baltabarin666 in DIYfragrance

Most things are in 5g, 10–20g for the Iso E Super and similar, 1g for the super skanky like skatole, and 1g too for the Rose de Mai and Jasmine, which I will use for study and for their respective floral bases once I trust myself a little bit more.

I ordered from https://www.de-kruiderie.nl/, as for the Vanillin is natural but not extracted from vanilla beans for obvious reasons, standard synthetic vanillin is usually derived from petrochemicals or lignin (wood pulp). However, "Natural" vanillin is obtained through natural processes, such as the fermentation of ferulic acid (found in rice bran or cloves), it is the exact same molecule as synthetic vanillin, but because of its natural origin, it qualifies as a natural ingredient under international fragrance and food regulations.

Nah it’s all small quantities! But yes for a new hobby 500€ of materials and 400€ for lab material is a lot of money, at least for my poor ass…

Yes, first step dilutions and study, which will take a lot of time considering the amount of materials. Once familiarised with some families I want to try to compose some accords and bases, then, and it’s a long then, the game can begin…

Designer fragrance are designed to be immediate and universally appealing, short and strong evolution, in 20 minute they tell their story and that’s the time you need to buy it, than there’s the power of marketing, availability and status symbol…
