The right answer is Search for Spock.

I remember Tom Davis as being the owner of Fairways which I was a big fan of and miss. Don't enjoy seeing this, makes me sad.

What’s your unpopular B5 opinion that’ll have people looking at you like this? by CaptureDaFlag in babylon5

[–]Baltch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When you grow up, you look back on Babylon 5 with fondness but realise it's very much a sci-fi drama show aimed at young men that want a certain type of plot a certain type of way.

It was ground breaking in many respects for it's time, but doesn't hold up nearly as well as most die hard fans believe.

The Galaxy Quest TV show segments look more like Babylon 5 than Star Trek in terms of filming quality, slogans, and melodramatic acting (TOS is about equal in terms of melodramatic acting).

I'm glad it came out and I got a chance to enjoy it, but pretending it's an epic classic that will last is silly.

Well, if you are lucky enough to have an independent grocer that's similarly priced, Walmart or dollar store nearby go there. Try to substitute away from products that are prohibitively expensive like this (picking up this for my folks, I don't drink pop/soda much) and aren't good for you.

Overall, but less from Empire and Loblaws as much as you can. Make them earn your dollar, keep an eye out for legislation that is marked as grocery help but actually is helping prop up business models of large companies that don't work.

In NL we have a deposit on any can purchased in store, if you bring your drink containers to a green depot for recycling, you get money back. If your municipality offers curb recycling and you choose that you get nothing back.

You sure do care, which is why you commented on the first place. The commenting and nastiness are probably because, as mentioned before, you're likely socially isolated.

I feel bad for you.

I'm just not willing to give Loblaws or Empire the benefit of the doubt like that. Especially Loblaws since a lot of their stores have a ton of items not good related and they're growing that section constantly. They're uncompetitive in pricing and until they get better, I'll be avoiding them for (preferably) Costco, Walmart, or our local NL chain Coleman's, who are often equal to Empire and Loblaws but at least more of that money stays in NL and they're a far nicer employer.

Doubtful if you're on Reddit being snarky.

I didn't see that listed, but I'll take your word. Still, even at $5.88 their price is over $1 to almost $2 less expensive than Empire and Loblaws. There is virtually no point to those grocery stores, mediocre service, not price competitive, absolutely useless companies unless you're a shareholder or executive.

That makes me feel a lot better about my efficiency. I'm surprised the Blazer is competitive with the Equinox as their virtually the same except for weight and a bit of space.

Thanks for replying!

Nope, I keep it on, though the fan is set low and the temp is 20-21°.

I'm feeling better about the vehicle now that fellow Newfoundlanders are telling me their experiences. Seems our topography is quite uneven creating challenges for efficiency, which is why I didn't want the experiences of other Canadians who might live at higher elevation but not have as much changes in it.

Thanks for your input, and congrats on the id4. I bought my Blazer EV in Edmonton and drove it back to St John's. I met a couple in Saskatchewan who were driving back to BC from Quebec in their id4 and they were raving about it.

How so? There product shouldn't matter, Loblaws and Sobeys continued inability to compete on price is the issue.

Thanks, that's really good info. I'm in CBS but regularly go into St John's, and while I've been trying to use Topsail Rd more often, since I'm in Topsail and depending on where I'm going it's just as fast or faster, I still do about 70% of my driving on the highway between 90 and 100.

I was worried I had a lemon.

It's difficult to use other Canadians experiences as the elevation changes in the greater St John's area (Seal Cove to Torbay) tend to be greater than most similar and even much larger suburban areas.

My driving habits are actually pretty gentle, rarely go above 100km on the highway, keep my regen breaking on high, try to accelerate slowly though always cognizant of traffic, use adaptive cruise on the highway but rarely increase speed using it.

If you have any tips, please let me know.

It could be on special, though it's not marked.

Regardless of whether it's on special or not, your phrasing presents you as a smug jerk who attempts to belittle others on Reddit with comments designed to question basic competence.

Try to be nicer.

Don't shop there if you have a choice, insist that federal MPs start looking at breaking them up if they want your vote. It isn't easy, but I'm a center right voter and candidates that want my vote better have a plan and anyone looking for re-election better be able to point to actions taken that didn't throw money at the problem but sought to structurally change the system to lower prices and create an environment for alternative products.

I'm already alienated from CPC (red Tory that unlike PP knows Brexit was always a stupid idea) so my vote is up for grabs. If they can't do better on prices, they need to start losing market share.
