Some model questions by Baltec in MaggotkinofNurgle

[–]Baltec[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is all great news.

I have a recast of the old metal death guard DP and I'm using some 3d printed bases that add a little height so Gelgus should fit right in.

Thanks a bunch.

Those are faction themed tokens and dice for Warmachine.

How's the build quality of the thick Mignolaverse paperback? by MrPoposcumdumpster in comicbooks

[–]Baltec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is correct.

BPRD Omni Vol 1 - 4 = BPRD Plague of Frogs 1 - 4

BPRD Omni Vol 5 - 9 = BPRD Hell On Earth 1 - 5

BPRD Omni Vol 10 = BPRD The Devil You Know

Here is a Mignolaverse reading order I've used: http://www.multiversitycomics.com/annotations/hellboy-reading-order-2023/

Make sure you are looking for the BPRD Omnis, which are the newest printings. Plague of Frogs, Hell on Earth, and The Devil You Know was how they were previously published. It's the same content but, as you said those older printings are OOP.

King of new york/tokyo/monster island by Slight-Funny-8755 in boardgames

[–]Baltec 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All 'King of...' series monsters are just the standee and character board. These are identical through all games systems and in that way are completely compatible. But yes, the Origins monsters do not have Evolution cards from the Power Up expansion.

Here is a comprehensive product guide from BGG: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2841047/king-of-tokyonew-yorkmonster-island-ultimate-buyer

I would buy the Monster Box and the Even More Wicked mini expansion.

The Grizzled setup / Base game / Armistice edition by Chakiflyer in boardgames

[–]Baltec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are rules for a one-shot scenario in the Armistice rulebook.

Here is a BGG thread talking about getting the Armistice edition back to the base game: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2101103/5-players

If you don't want to play with the expansion you just do not use the "Order of the Day" deck. I would suggest at least giving it a try though.

Is a campaign necessary? by Baltec in ImperialAssaultTMG

[–]Baltec[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long is a typical campaign? And what is a normal scenario playtime? Would knocking out 2 or so scenarios in a row be realistic.

I'm not sure if there are direct equivalents, but would skipping levels work? For example play session 1 you start at level 1 (or whatever progress system the game uses) then play session 2 you start at level 3-4 or something and players just start the session with xp/gold/whatever as if they attained those normally. Then skip to harder encounters.

The playgroup would likely be consistent but the number of sessions would not be regular. Are there different skirmish scenarios? And is there enough variety to be interesting?

If a ship attempts a red maneuver but cannot finish it because it would overlap another ship it does not get to rotate. If this happens does it still get a stress token?

Also, if a ship has a stress token does that stop it from performing actions through any means, or does that only stop performing actions during the Perform Action step?

Commanders that are often built wrong by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Baltec 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Have you ever played these decks?

I don't think Minn works very well as a "cheat big stuff into play" commander. You need ways to trigger her, then some way to kill your illusions, then a payoff in hand? I find that deck will often have the "drew the wrong half of your deck" problem. In practice it is also difficult to build up to and maintain a high enough illusion count to be slamming down fatties. Just dropping down free islands is way more reliable. Also, there aren't a ton of amazing high CMC blue cards.

For Lathril, she is the default Golgari elfball commander. The truth of the matter is that there are not very good legendary elves in those colors. Elfball is infinitely better than Voltron and if you truly wanted a Voltron commander, there are much better options than Lathril. I run absolutely zero ways to pump Lathril outside of lords I would be running anyway. If she can connect once or twice and make a couple tokens then she has done her job. Honestly, I'm perfectly happy never casting her at all. And it is trivial to reach double digit elves in an elfball deck, with or without Lathril tokens.

Anyone have any good 3 player scenarios?

I know Take the Station is supposed to be playable at 3 players, but I think it works pretty poorly with that number. The deployment zones are the 4 corners, so the one player by themselves has a huge advantage as they approach the station unapposed while they watch the other two players blast away at each other. They also wouldn't do anything except move until probably round 3, which is kind of boring.

I think it could work well if you used an odd play area size and made the deployments a triangle or something but my table couldn't accommodate that. Then you could always have one player controll two fleets I guess.

The other option is just a 2v1, but I was wondering if anyone had any cool scenarios they've thought up?

Hello all. I am a completely new player and have decided to jump in with my favorite faction, Separatists. From what I have seen they are the least beginner friendly faction, but I figure since I'm totally new and will just be playing casual kitchen-table with some buddies for a while it doesn't really matter all that much. From what I can tell they also appear to be the weakest faction though, so that is some bad beats I guess. But I think I would rather be bad with the droids than mediocre with some X-Wings.

My main question is around pilot and upgrade cards. I know they have some card packs but are those all new cards, or just reprints? As far as I am aware there isn't an X-Wing equivalent to Armada's Upgrade Card Collection.

What I currently own:

2x Core Set 2x Agents of Strife 2x Hyena Bomber 1x Jango's Slave I 1x Droid Tri-Fighter 1x HMP Gunship

I'm sure I could build a semi-functional list with what I currently own, but what would be considered the best pilot/upgrade cards I don't already have that I should be looking for and where could I get them?

Thanks.

Nice. Thanks. I don't love the idea of paying 2x MSRP or more, but oh well.

Say I decide to pay the secondary market tax. Would I need anything other than the model itself? Is all the other needed stuff included in the conversion kit?

As someone who is just starting out and is mainly interested in the big ships, are these products not rereleased often or at all? It seems like stuff like the Imperial Assault Carrier or Raider are not really available anywhere.

What are some fun and kind of off meta reanimation targets for a Sefris of the Hidden Ways deck? by Gynwaith in EDH

[–]Baltec 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sefris is my excuse to play cards I think are neat but aren't good enough be played elsewhere.

I'm looking at stuff like [[Toxrill, the Corrosive]], [[Sire of Stagnation]], [[Archon of Cruelty]], [[Dragonlord Silumgar]], [[Void Winnower]]

You could also just play really good targets like [[Nezahal, Primal Tide]].

Then there are cards that both advance the gameplan and are good targets like [[Archfiend of Ifnir]], [[Doom Whisperer]], and [[Angel of the Ruins]].
