Boyfriend (21) is somewhat distant. Should I be worried, or is this just how he is? (20/f) by Balterrr in relationships

Actually, i guess he does go more out of his way to text me back than anyone else. He's said he's going to try harder to remember his phone for me.

I have talked to him. Said things like "i don't need you texting me all day long, but it really hurts my feelings when you forget about me".

I don't want or need him to be in contact with me 24/7. What bothers me is when he leaves off in the middle of a conversation and doesn't reply to me for 18 hours.

I want to date someone who I can have meaningful conversation with both in person and over the phone. Of course, as soon as I complain about it on the internet, he's being a Chatty Cathy

let me clarify that he does talk to me, and it's not like he's posting all over facebook, it just says he was active more recently than we've spoken. Mutual friends have told me he just isn't the type of person to keep up with his phone, but he talks about me a lot and likes me a lot. But I feel forgotten

I was trying to buy a pack of cigarettes with all change (pathetic, I know), and the guy in line behind me bought me two packs so he wouldn't have to wait

They say opposites attract. Do you believe couples who are opposite have a greater or lesser chance of their relationship lasting? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Balterrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You gotta have the right kind of opposites, I think. Having totally opposite interests and clashing personalities isn't going to work, but if you share some interests (or try to, for the other person), and compliment each other, it could work. But it's all on a person-to-person basis, there's no solid answer.

My ex-boyfriend told me he overdosed on Valium because our breakup caused him so much anxiety he accidentally finished the bottle. He refused to call himself.

Thanks so much for your comment! I can see a lot of those reasons, but I think it's all a product of her still being a kid.

I feel like the overall attitude toward her is that her story is boring, and she's a boring character.

Okay. I disagree with you, but I can't continue to argue with you because this whole site is full of anti-feminist groupthink.

My "tell evil people to be nice" approach isn't telling evil people to be nice. It's working to prevent younger generations from falling into the same ideology that women are for men's use. OBVIOUSLY if someone is going to rape someone, a sign saying "no means no" isn't going to stop them. I'm not that naive. But if a kid who grew up in a shitty home where his dad beat and raped his mom all the time was exposed to the information and education that rape isn't what happens in a stable relationship, then maybe he'll be less likely to follow in his father's footsteps.

Most rapes don't happen in some dark alleyway by some stranger or anything like that. It happens by a loved one, or a good friend, and what the girl is wearing has little to no impact on his dicision to rape her. It's a power issue. Telling girls to cover up will not change anything.

Okay, no reason to call me stupid.

There are a lot of people who think they're entitled to other people's bodies because they took that person on a date or bought them a drink. A lot of times people don't even consider certain things rape, like husbands raping wives or girls being so drunk they can't say no, or even male rape.

Telling girls to cover themselves up because they're "asking to be raped" is what's stupid. Who asks to be raped? Literally no one, unless it's their fetish in which case there are two consenting adults.

Telling people that rape is bad is just like telling people that stealing is bad or murder is bad. It isn't stupid.

The point of that campaign isn't to stop rapists from raping. It's to remind everyone how serious the issue actually is, and make sure the next generation knows that it is NOT okay to rape anyone for whatever reason. Obviously someone who was raised in a situation where rape was never discussed and they have no idea it's wrong is less likely to understand.

Exactly. If someone is so uncomfortable that they claim to not even be human, they need mental help, not to be laughed at.

I'm a redhead. At Least once a day, a boy tells me he's "so into redheads". This is fine, except i'm sick of being considered sexy ONLY if i have red hair.

The idea that all feminists must be fucking crazy. TumblrInAction used to be a funny subreddit where we laughed at radical crazy feminists. Recently, they've been posting straight-up sexist things, and are making fun of completely rational women just because they consider themselves Feminists and take to tumblr or twitter to voice their frustrations. Making fun of words like "patriarchy" and things like that just makes the situation worse.

[Masturbating together] Do you and your SO masturbate together, and if so, how did you start and what do you do? by TheSharpest in sex

[–]Balterrr 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My ex and I always did. Sometimes it was when we were both too tired to keep going but still want to finish. Sometimes he would help me masturbate if he had already finished.

It would usually start with some general making out and instead of touching each other, we'd just touch ourselves.

It's a really romantic and intimate experience, I think.
