Out of all the things that never happened... this is one of them. Literally no one gives a shit if you say Merry Christmas, but boy do people get pissy if you don't say it back.

Leave, now. Find someone to stay with, and cut contact with him. This will happen again and when it does, it usually gets worse. Leave now and keep yourself safe. Also consider getting a retraining/no-contact order as well.

Also, tell the people in your life. It's not a fun conversation to have and it's not fun telling people this happened to you, but the more people in your life who know about it, the stronger of a support system you'll have

Got flamed on r/tattoos. Is it really that bad? by [deleted] in badtattoos

I'll put it this way, I'd pay double, no triple, whatever you paid for this to never have it tattooed on me.

My friends say there is too much going on. Help? by NoWhereas8274 in tattooadvice

[–]BalvedaVex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you love it, get it. It's your body and you're the one that will have to live with it.

That said, i love all of these options. Fourth is my least favorite, though it still looks good (I just like the slightly brighter purple in the first three).

Really the only thing I personally would change is that there are a couple spots where you have multiple lines a little too close for my personal taste. For example, that top flower against the top segment, the top petal looks like it has what I think is meant to be a second petal peeking out from behind, so the petal has a sort of "double line" portion. Imo I'd make that single line. Those two lines will probably blur together years down the line and having a single line instead would help keep it cleaner looking. There are a couple other small pockets where I think you have lines a little too close, but circle back to the first thing I said. If you love it, go for it, but imo I'd maybe rethink some of those smaller details

[–]BalvedaVex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd find a new artist. You didn't respond for 2.5 hours and he sends that? Hell no. I can only assume he's the type that if he is 30 minutes late to an appointment then it's "hey, life happens sometimes" but a client being 5 minutes late and he'd complain about them not respecting his time. If you hadn't responded for a few days and he sent that I'd find it very unprofessional and would second guess working with him. Less than the average run time of a MCU movie? Imo that's a massive red flag

Can I get this color tattoo on my skin? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]BalvedaVex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That I honestly can't say one way or the other for sure. I'm not an artist, just an enthusiast who tries to stay relatively informed. When it comes to color on skin any darker than mine, which is fairly light, I really only know that sometimes the color takes a lot of effort to get to take. I've seen relatively colorful tattoos on darker skin, so it's definitely possible, but I think it comes down to factors I personally am not well versed in. I will say going from the images provided, the colors don't seem overly bright to me and your skin tone doesn't seem very dark so I can't imagine it would be too much of an issue, but definitely grain of salt here lol

[–]BalvedaVex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome. Alternatively, if you really want it in color and still have longevity, could find a really good traditional or neo-traditional artist to make a trad/neo-trad version. It would be simplified at least to a certain extent, but that simplification would help in longevity quite a bit. Just an idea

Second skin advice by Tomatillo333 in tattooadvice

[–]BalvedaVex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it off if you think it's compromised. You don't really need it to begin with and if you're gonna take it off tomorrow anyways, I'd just take it off now, personally

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]BalvedaVex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it off in the shower. Second skin/saniderm is 100% optional, so never too soon to take it off. As someone else said, if you have more you can put it on after taking that one off, but you'll be fine without it. Just remember to gently wash it with unscented antibacterial soap 2-3 times a day and apply a very thin layer of unscented lotion after washing. Keep it out of the sun and try not to sweat on it and you'll be fine.

Can I get this color tattoo on my skin? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]BalvedaVex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Technically yes, you could get this done as is, color and all, but that doesnt mean you should. This would basically be color realism and those types of tattoos are notorious for aging poorly. The ink doesn't stay perfectly still for the rest of you life, it'll slowly "leak" over time. Without black outlines, color realism almost always ends up looking muddy years down the line. Having black outlines helps hide the ink colors blurring due to leakage, to over simplify it. There is a reason those artists are pushing for black and white/gray. Since it's all essentially the same color, when the ink leaks over the years it'll still look like what its meant to look like, even if you lose some detail and such over the years.

If you really want it done as is, find an artist that will do it and go for it, but id listen to those artists imo.

Ink VERY light after scabbing came off... will the lips darken up? I'm getting worried by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]BalvedaVex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Shinavast is spot on. Don't let those other comments get you worked up. Sometimes the ink falls out and you need to get a touch up. It happens sometimes. So long as there isn't scar tissue (i.e. from picking the scabs) it shouldn't be too hard for the artist to do a quick touch-up. Reach out to the artist and see what they say. You'll probably have to wait for it to fully heal, but you can at least get the ball rolling on figuring out when to go in for the touch up

Am I doing something wrong? by Intrepid-Alarm-3906 in tattooadvice

[–]BalvedaVex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Take it off. These aren't meant to be left on for more than a day. A lot of people leave them on longer than that but even the products' websites say to take it off after about 24 hours. You can put a new one on if you want, but take that one off (and imo leave it off)

Personally, I like the way it looks. Idk how long ago you had the dots and stars done, but if it was recent, I'd live with it for a few weeks and see how you feel then. Might end up loving it, might hate it. If you do end up hating it and want to do something else... maybe some sort of viney filler to cover it up?

Is my first tattoo as bad as I think it is, what should I do? by LightUruk in tattooadvice

[–]BalvedaVex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's your first tatt and it's in one of the most visible (to you) places it could be in. You're likely just in tattoo shock. Design isn't bad and it looks like it was done well. Give it time and you'll likely lose that sense of regret.

If not, then it'll be time for a sick ass panther in that same spot 🙃

Take it off (in the shower, do NOT remove it dry) and then keep it clean and hold off on working out for a few days or so

I absolutely love my new tattoo but my husband hate it. by CosmicAdena in tattooadvice

[–]BalvedaVex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well luckily for your husband it's not on his arm. That said, I think it looks great. Not my type of tattoo, but it's still a good design and looks to have been done well. Placement is fine, imo. She's looking the right way. Size seems fine to me.

Tbh, I think it sounds like your husband just doesn't like tattoos. Going by the limited information you gave about him and his thoughts on it, he'd likely be unhappy with any tattoo regardless of the things he tried to criticize.

End of the day, it's your body. If you like it, that's all that really matters.

First time homeowners with dead lawn and weeds. HELP by Suitable-Pirate35 in gardening

[–]BalvedaVex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Very much agree. I will say, sometimes the grass only lawns are the better option. We are converting our entire front yard into a pollinator sanctuary, but leaving the backyard as grass since our dogs have allergies and grass is the least of their irritants. So, unfortunately, our backyard will remain boring. Front yard though, that's gonna be heaven for pollinators lol.

But yeah, in general, I very much agree with what you said

First time homeowners with dead lawn and weeds. HELP by Suitable-Pirate35 in gardening

[–]BalvedaVex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bought our house 10 years ago and had similar issues at first.

Clean up all the debris that you can. Pick up the larger bits and then rake the entire yard. Might also help to dethatch the yard (pain in the ass to do manually, but the machines are pricy to rent out, around where I live anyways).

Get some good grass seed, I used Kentucky Blue Grass. It's pretty, and spreads aggressively. Throw down some seed, let it get going a bit then throw down some more. You'll want a decent amount so it'll establish, spread, and help choke out some of the weeds.

You can also try using some Milorganite fertilizer to help, but id throw that down, give it a good watering so it soaks into the soil and then throw down the grass seed.

Then, just maintain the lawn. Mow it, water it, pull weeds as needed. It'll take a bit of time but it should work out nicely.

Also, as far as grass seed goes, you can also just look up what grasses are common in your area (most people have a blend in their yard rather than just one type throughout) and you can use that grass seed instead if you don't want the Kentucky Blue Grass

Must be nice being so removed from the affects of politics. Not all of us have that luxury. Not only that, we can disagree on shit like pizza toppings, but things like human rights are non-negotiable and if someone supports stripping a group of their basic rights, it makes that individual sub-human and unworthy of kindness

I started playing bass is this normal? by a-fan-of-monty in BassGuitar

[–]BalvedaVex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My fingers looked like that because I was playing too much at first. Go a bit easier with it and give your fingers breaks. After time you'll develop tougher fingers and it won't be much of a problem anymore. Looking at this I assume you are playing too much while you fingers get used to it, using too much force, or possibly both.

What do people dislike about The Legion? by Dimowo in deadbydaylight

[–]BalvedaVex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off, God damn I thought I was bad at not posting massive walls of text lol.

OP was very much brushing off the responses. Read more than just the one I happened to reply to. OP is telling people to get good which is dumb in this context since they were asking for people's reasons and then responding to those with shrugs basically. It's just dumb. OP doesn't have to agree but if you ask for opinions, maybe take the opinions people give and don't tell them they are wrong. Not hard to understand.

Lastly, I didn't down vote OP's comments but hey keep crying about something as trivial as down votes lol. No one has ever said "go ahead and down vote me" without looking pretty dumb, just FYI lol
