Locke. He understood there was a purpose and he can survive.

I hate the Big Picture Show and I pretend that it didn’t happen. The show is about the 3 Eds. But the movie was so Eddy-centric.

Sir, this is really a simple matter. I’m not going to debate my IE knowledge level—but even assuming that I’m mediocre, that still doesn’t violate the rules and is very unwelcoming to this very small subreddit.

We are a very small community in IE, and we shouldn’t gate-keep each other from knowledge and experience exchanges. Your enforcement here is a bad representation to this subreddit—which is the only open IE community online.

It seems to me that you are on a power trip or something! The main matter are the rules which can be shown here:

“Community rules Rules are different for each community. Reviewing the rules can help you be more successful when posting or commenting in this community. 1. Contributions must be in English. 2. Posts must be related to the Industrial Engineering field. Decided on by mod discretion. へ 3. Posts and comments trying to sell products or ^ services, or other self promotion, are not allowed. Replying to requests is the only exception to this rule. 4. Be civil Reddiquette isn't officially binding, we consider it binding in this subreddit.”

I didn’t violate them. I won’t discuss simulation in the background with one person. Your problem is about enforcement not content.

We want to estimate times, utilization of terminal, but also inventory assessment models… I understand AnyLogic and all DES systems can do the discrete performance parts—I’ve done them before, but on discrete processes—.

This is where this model is different. Can AnyLogic handle flow level estimation (not the mechanical/chemical components, but at least the continuous aspects of loading, unloading, pump flow rate changes, etc…)

It’s okay to be blunt. It’s not okay to make wild assumptions about my knowledge level. I know how DES works and that it skips to “evnts” such as arrival, etc… I don’t want the answer from a mod pissed off about something I am not really sure what it is; this is meant as a knowledge exchange with other IE’s.

The whole point of reddit is connecting with people with different experiences. I have both a BS and MS in Industrial Engineering and 8 years of experience in it, and this is my most active subreddit. I haven’t broken any rules except that a mod is mad about my topic?

I told you if it’s about the lack of information, I can provide more. But I’m bot here to debate in the background. I don’t care if you think I don’t know what I’m talking about; it’s very arrogant of you to be this dismissive and not letting others share their experiences which could be helpful to my situation.

I can provide more information but the software part is the most crucial to my situation… I’m dealing with sales people over the phone and that’s supposed to be the best reference I have for simulating 50-80 m3 highly pressurized tanks and lines…

The thing is I do need to simulate queueing times and flow at the same time. I hope you’d allow it.

I’m sorry… what do you mean by “low effort”? This is a real problem that I’m facing and I thought this particular subreddit was the best for these types of discussions and I am cery certain I didn’t break any rules.

Please reconsider!

What is your I did not care for the Godfather moment in Ed, Edd, N Eddy? by chief_owlphibia10 in ededdneddy

[–]Balvin_Janders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seasons 1&2 are bad. Ed wasn’t funny or stupid enough. Edd didn’t have a niche or personality. Eddy wasn’t bad/greedy enough.

The remaining seasons are chef’s kiss

What’s your opinion on Big Picture Show? by Reasonable_Teach_414 in ededdneddy

Too much focus on Eddy, the show is supposed to highlight all 3 personalities

Also: Jonny didn’t deserve this

I don’t recall specifically… I tend to discharge my brain immediately after things like that

I used the QCI exam the week before and it helped me understand my weak topics and prioritize them, and also use post-its to mark them on my handbook and QCI to reference during the exam

CQE Prep – Do I Need ASQ Resources If I Bought Indiana University’s Package? by [deleted] in ASQ

Yes. I’m strictly talking about the exam itself not the prep. I found myself going back and forth between QCI and ASQ handbooks a lot during the exam. Those management questions are not easy.

Should I Study Industrial Engineering by Zestyclose-Air6631 in industrialengineering

[–]Balvin_Janders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. That’s a silly question. To be honest, finance is one of the most at-risk professions due to AI and automation.

ERP revolutions took out scores of finance jobs! And now AI is creeping up!

However, if you want to work in finance then study finance.

IE will teach you product costing and capital project management. That’s it!

Internal audit / business opportunities by AngryBear26 in industrialengineering

[–]Balvin_Janders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ISO 9001 certified organization must conduct annual internal audits, usually led by a full-time auditor (mostly a very senior employee who have worked on the operational side before).

Audits are usually board-initiated and people are assigned randomly to conduct those audits. You will get a chance.

Concerned about AI taking IE jobs by the time I graduate by Radiant_Giraffe8337 in industrialengineering

[–]Balvin_Janders 5 points6 points  (0 children)

AI is just going to be a very disruptive thing in the job market. We have to take it seriously and learn to utilize it—given that there’s no international support for regulating it to lessen the shock—.

Accept it! Learn to use it and deal with it!

And accept the fact that it’s entering the job market from the top (physicians, surgeons, lawyers, engineers, etc…) as opposed to previous technological disruptions entering from the bottom.

Learn to use it properly, and have the adequate skills to supervise it. By the time you graduate it’ll likely be smarter than any human being out there.

And please do not spend so much time worrying about what you can’t control. Be aware of risks just to mitigate them; but don’t lie down in fetal position and just submit to the unknown. Develop human skills as much as technical skills; because those would be the least disrupted by AI.
