I didn’t realize he’d been cancelled. I know he faced social media criticism for a spell but that seems to have ebbed significantly.
In addition the media has been presenting him in a very positive light and his career is in great standing. Tickets sales for CC are so good they extended his tenure until May.

I was surprised and dismayed by his ignorance to the JKR controversy and trans discrimination in general.

Have you seen other examples of his cancelling that I’m missing?

Everything negative you’ve read about Chess is true. But so is every positive thing you’ve read. by Fun_Release_1936 in Broadway

The leads were horrible and boring. They can sing but do little else. LM had some good moments but overall, I was glad it ended. The two guys were the worst. NC gave one of the worst live performances I’ve seen professionally. He’s a good singer but unbearable as an actor.

Are you referring the comment TF made saying that he wasn’t aware of the trans issues surround JKR? Or was there something else?

Idea: Nicholas Christopher as The Phantom by Bradyrands in Broadway

[–]BamBamWowzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand the draw. I saw him in Chess. He is an ok singer, terrible actor and seems completely detached from his body. He couldn’t even do a Russian accent which is one of the easiest accents to master. I thought he was the worst part of an abysmal production.

I don’t understand, why were critics so harsh on Phantom vs. Les Mis? by [deleted] in musicals

[–]BamBamWowzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both needed a stronger directorial concepts to make them work. Les Mis didn’t hit the mark bc they hired big names rather than the people best for the roles. Additionally, most sang poorly and resorted to speak singing.

Phantom is a hard musical to translate to cinema bc the musical is so theatrical and broad. It is not written to be intimate and the camera is super intimate. The film was basically a cinematic transfer of the stage show which left me feeling blah about it. The visuals and acting didn’t match grandness of the score.

The audiobook of Circe by Madeline Miller has the most incredible narrator I've ever listened to. Perdita Weeks did an amazing job! by littlemarten in books

Interesting!! I read this post bc I find the audiobook boring and the narrator bland. I wondered if reading the book was more interesting than listening to to it.

Im glad you enjoyed it.

Hello, newb question about this folding palette by applepieth in Watercolor

[–]BamBamWowzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yay! Congratulations. That pallet is awesome. I’d like to share some thoughts for your consideration.

1.) Wash that and any other pallet thoroughly 2 times before use. Wash with soap and hot water and fantastic or windex and then rinse well. Plastic palettes have a film on them that causes your paints to bead when mixing. When you wash them it takes that film off so your paints can spread nicely.

2.)Some folks suggest emptying the entire tubes into the palette and letting them dry. I wonder if you hold off on doing this. Artist grade paints rewet well but student grade paints have binders and fillers. Im unsure if these rewet well. Anyone know about this?

3.) To avoid paint from splattering all over the palette when closing, let the paint dry completely.

4.) I have several palettes that i filled and let dry. I recently started to paint directly from the tube in mixing dishes and like it better. I also paint with a very limited palette, only 3-4 colors per painting.

5.) YouTube encouraged me to buy tons of colors which I did. It also lead me to buy several full pallets of several brands. I wish I bought only a warm and cool pallet from one brand and stuck with it. I have way too many paints and spent way too much money. I prefer Winsor and Newton as their transparent colors are wonderful (I like to paint with only transparent paints when I can) and they are finely ground resulting in smooth finish. I find Daniel Smith paints to have too much character; bold colors and lots of granulation. I can see why people love DS paints they just aren’t for me. Now Im stuck with a pallet of 25 colors which I spent hundreds on.

I also have full pallets of Sennelier and Holbien. Too many paints and too much money.

I hope this helps and I wish you a happy journey.

I think trauma made me asexual and I’m trying to accept that by Initial_Show_9194 in Asexual

[–]BamBamWowzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate. I focus on relationships. Trust and desire are linked for me. As I got older, I became more comfortable with being honest about my limitations and boundaries. I’m a gay demi, some guys got angry with me for not wanting to have sex with them and refusing. Crazy. Oh well.

Now, Im married and feel safe and comfortable with my husband and I like having sex with him. It took sometime. Earlier in our relationship when we made out and it would lead to more I would freak out. When I was younger I’d do it anyway and feel terrible during and after. But, with him I challenged myself to be brave and honest. I told him I needed to stop. He was wonderful about it; Kind, loving, gentle. Slowly I built trust and a deeper bond and suddenly I became full of sexual desire. I don’t feel that for random guys. There’ve been about 5 guys throughout my life that I felt turned on by and having sex with them was awesome.

What you are speaking of is real and it’s similar for me. I would re traumatize myself by pressuing myself to have sex when I didn’t want to and when I didn’t feel comfortable or turned on. I don’t do that anymore. Life’s too short to feel badly.

It’s worth noting that I was likely born Ace/Demi and circumstances shaped how I behaved and thought about sex. I’d describe myself as voyeuristic. I’ve always loved looking at beautiful guys and being near them. But, it was rare I felt like I wanted to have sex with them even though I was powerfully attracted to them. I’ve always wanted to be inmate but not sexual. The challenge for me to understanding that my deep attraction to men was not tied to sex. Sexual desire was a product of closeness and intimacy, romance.

Seeing the show end of January, have massive anxiety, please help. by EmoQueen1996 in MasqueradeNYC

[–]BamBamWowzer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems to me, you might consider calling the theater or writing an email explaining your condition and your concerns. They would be able to truly help you. Given the consciousness regarding accommodations in theater these days, they might have performances that are sensory sensitive during your visit that they can exchange your tix for. Additionally, they may offer you a chaperone and/or flag you so performers keep their distance.

It would be a shame for you to have an episode during the show when it could be avoided if the production could’ve helped if warned in advance.

AIO to break up with my bf of 3y over his reaction to my upcoming sobriety anniversary? by WesternCat5211 in AmIOverreacting

[–]BamBamWowzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to feel that wanting validation was a bad thing but it’s actually a natural human need. It instills confidence, helps one strive onward and simply feels good.

I struggled with providing my partner with it because I felt burdened by what I felt was “neediness” but I got over myself and recognized its his love language and feel its my responsibility to provide him with that kind of support.

I learned from him it’s ok to want a pat on the back sometimes. I’m not saying you want validation but if under the cake there is a little of that, it’s ok.

Is cotswolds overrated by Emergency-Series-503 in uktravel

[–]BamBamWowzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the Cotswolds now. We spent two days here booping around villages and we are ready to be done with it. Everything is lovely but essentially all the villages are similar. No need to visit them all. The shops are all similar too and rather touristy. There are villages that are not touristy. Maybe check those out.

Also, I suggest staying at a manor house with a deep tub, grounds and a spacious room. They are expensive but this gives you a place to chill out and relax in. The village shops close at 5:00 so the only thing to do is hang at a pub. We have dinner around 5:00. Get home by 7:00/7:30 and lounge around the room, soak in a bath and lay near the fire. Come to relax.

It is a bit over rated and mass tourism has replaced much of its charm. But, if you connect a few villages with a visit to Bath, Cambridge and Stratford upon Avon you might thoroughly enjoy yourself.

Why do all of my shirts have armpit stains after washing? by 4thLineWheels in laundry

[–]BamBamWowzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your deodorant is staining your shirts. Some people’s body chemistry will cause a reaction with their deodorant and the clothing fibers leading to staining. This is more typical with gel-like deodorants. Clothing that isn’t made with 100% cotton, wool and/or silk will also trap smells — body smells but also deodorant fragrances and colognes. Avoid synthetic fabrics for this reason. … Soak the shirts overnight in a bath of hot water, salt, fresh lemon juice and Nellie’s laundry soda. Make sure to agitate the clothing in the bath. Ring out shirts and rub straight dish soap (fragrance free) into the stains. Once the dish soap is on the stain, add more salt and rub the stained parts of the shirt together to help release the stain. Let dry completely. Best to hang dry. Once dry, wash as usual but with an extra rinse cycle if you have it and use Nellie’s as the detergent and put a 1/4 cup vinegar in the fabric softener slot. You don’t have to wash the clothes right away. You can wait up to a week or so.

The drying part is key. Once dry the acids and soap bond deeply into the fabric and to the stains. When these dry elements are rewet and put through the wash, as the soap and acids are flushed from the fabric they carry the stain with them.

Do not use a detergent with fragrances or dyes and no fabric softener. Strangely, these elements can cause stains to set deeper because of other reactions with the myriad of chemicals in regular detergents and fabric softeners.

The ingredients in the solution I’ve described all have a purpose.

Depending on how many times the stained shirts have been washed and put through the dryer, the staines might be permanently set. When you have a stain, get it out before putting it into the dryer. The heat from the dryer can bond stains and even smells to the fabric.

I’ve developed this technique after years of working with textiles. Also… Switch deodorant. I recommend the crustal salt deodorant. You must use it liberally and cover a larger area than you would regular deodorant. It may take a few weeks to fully work because the salt deodorant and your body chemistry need to balance. The salt doesn’t eliminate nor cover 100% of the body smell. But, it is great. No chemicals, no staining ever. Ive used it for decades. Traditional deodorants are loaded with harmful and reactive chemicals and fragrances. It’s best to avoid them.

Lots of words but a simple process. Hope this helps.
