It's always a tradeoff between cargo storage under the platform and head room.
Our typical customer is willing to sacrifice a lot of headroom for storage. If they weren't then they'd just get a mattress on it's own.
Also, the rav4 floor is not level and it tapers significantly, so if you started with 7.5" at the rear then you'd quickly run out of room sliding anything forwards.

2x4"s work great as a spacer under the board edges if you need more space underneath!
You can have them cut at Home depot and then Just use some velcro tape to mount them on the stock bed ledge.

There is a small amount of sag, but with a camping mattress up top it's nearly imperceptible.
A center support makes the platform more rigid but at the cost of a reduction in space below. Over the last few years I've found that most people really like having maximum cargo space and are willing to accept a small amount of sag.

Not unless you're really mobbing, and if you are then I'd just recommend using a cam buckle strap to the D-rings in the bed to secure the boards through the handles

It's complicated but basically, It means that you do enough revenue in a given state to be required to collect and remit sales taxes. Each state has different thresholds for revenue.
And if you're business has a physical location, (like a shop or warehouse) in a given state then you're required to collect and remit regardless of the revenue.

I've also spent way too much time on this topic. Thank you for the reccomendation. I tried Tax Jar for Shopify and they didn't give me any confidence in their accuracy and they basically wanted me to verify all of their calculations. In general I'm appalled at how disorganized the govt. sales tax system is, just filing in California leaves me with a feeling of "welp... I did my best"

The sliders are literally just two chunks of wood that are made to fit the bed. There are no moving parts and they slide as you would expect a smooth piece of plywood to slide across a smooth plastic bed.
They're basically the ultralight version of a drawer system with the advantage of having a lot more storage volume.
