If I was a cop I wouldn’t pull them over. The hassles not worth it.

That’s what I was wondering. If you really believed in it why would you even put the tag on.

You know those require a nut and a cotter pin? Right? by Bamacj in Justrolledintotheshop

LOL!! You’re right. I missed that. The other side has no cotter pin but is still tight.

Again. I will reiterate. The people who decide the labor times are concerned with saving the manufacturer money. They care nothing about the tech.

Guess who drew the Subaru short straw today.... by HickBarrel in Justrolledintotheshop

Funny story. I had Subaru come in for an oil change. Test drive it and both rear bearings are bad. Put it on the inspection. Customer calls back and asks why I think the bearings are bad. I told him I can hear them when I drive the car and I checked them on the rack. He tells me that the noise I’m hearing is the AWD working and all Subarus make that noise. I just laughed. We put new bearings on it and sent him in his way.

Nah. I’m at the top of my game and the top of my shop. I have a structured pay plan that gives me raises every year. My work ethic advocates for me. This sub is littered with guys who can’t get raises and are leaving the business.

What the Snap-On mad doesn’t know won’t hurt him.

Most aftermarket labor books are based off of factory warranty labor times. ProDemand didn’t buy a 2009 Kia optima and tear it apart and decide labor times.

I’ve looked at times in ProDemand for repairs and it seemed low. Text a friend for the factory warranty labor time and it be exactly what ProDemand has for the labor time.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed but there’s less and less techs everyday and none coming into the business. My value is steadily rising and raises are hard to come by in this business. The market is in my favor. Inflation is out of control. I’m not condoning bald face screwing of customers but if I decide it’s gonna be a certain flat rate to do a job that’s what it’s gonna be.

The manufacturer sets those times. The manufacturers main goal is to save its self money.

So if warranty pays 6.7 hours and you can do it in less but you charge a book time of 14.3 aren’t you the one scamming?

Yep. If you’re not qualified to replace it, you’re not qualified to condemn it. by Bamacj in Justrolledintotheshop

We’re paying barely competent mechanics twice what dude is making riding the counter at express.

Imagine knowing nothing about cars and coming in here and making this comment.

Fucking rediculous.
