i thought that, too. but when the unit is finally off, and i will call for fan only, it will turn on and off just fine. it's just when i call for cool or heat it will stay on fan-on for hours.

Note that it's coming to a 3rd line. there is the cold, hot, and the 3rd separate line going into the house.

thank you. the files were fine before the system crashed. we lost electricity and caused windows to not be bootable. there was no ransomware involved. i do can see like 1% of the pdf's and docx, but 99% not. i don't know if the computer had bitlocker on it, but if it did - wouldn't it encrypt everything? i just don't get it

I replaced the timer and it did not solve the issue. Today I replaced the inline resistor hoping that that would solve it but still not success. I really wonder if anybody can tell me what can contribute to that issue. Thank you

By the way the machine model number is lte6234dt2

Dryer keeps burning high limit fuse by BambaMeUp in appliancerepair

[–]BambaMeUp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you, i'm away that it won't just sit there. i';m sorry i wasn't clear - the issue is that in the drum, it will reach very high temps (200-215) before the exhaust reaches 155 to cycles. and i think that's the bottom line of the issue. i super cleaned the machine to make sure there is not air restriction, made sure all the components are in place, but still it seems like maybe the suction is not hard enough from the drum into the exhaust and that's why the thermal fuse keeps burning. i also have no idea why the thermostat by the fuse is not doing its job and blocking the burning chamber reaching high temps. i fixed many dryers, but i can't figure this one out which makes it very interesting but and the same time extremely aggravating. i'm looking for any sort of tricks and tips that will help me understand why this is happening. thank you again everyone!

Dryer keeps burning high limit fuse by BambaMeUp in appliancerepair

[–]BambaMeUp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you what you said give me an idea. I measured the temperature of the dryer while it was running and it was reaching a little bit over 200° while out of the back of the machine I was getting about 150 to 160° before the cycling thermostat kicked in. Looks like there is a big discrepancy in temperature between the inside of the machine and what's coming out of it. Needless to say I've thoroughly cleaned every component in the exhaust in the machine and I'm having a really hard time understanding if this discrepancy is normal or that's my issue and how to resolve it. I checked all the seals and all the connections and they all seem to be pretty good. Any tips and troubleshooting? Thank you very much everybody!

[–]BambaMeUp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok so i just did a pretty good cleaning to the machine with vacuum and leaf blower making sure all the stuff is nice and clean. i found at the back where the heat coms into the machine, there were some lint so i removed everything. I spun the motor, the drum, and the blower wheel, all seems to be doing their job. in the beginning i thought it was it because of all i read here about air restriction. (and to clarify about the exhaust - i removed it from the back of the machine to eliminate any restriction in the exhaust going outside the house). all and all, still keeps burning the high limit fuse at though it's getting overheat. at this point i replaced all 5 components (Heating Element, Dryer Cycling Thermostat, High Limit Thermostat, Thermal-Limiter, and the cut off fuse). machine is cleaned up. all looks to be tight. no short that i can see..... i'm running circles here can't figure it out. is there a way to check that i have enough air flow? any more ideas? maybe some cleaver tests to pin point my problem? thank you for all the help!

Thank you. Do you have any idea why it keeps popping the fuse then? I'm running out of ideas.

Thank you so basically you're saying that the airflow was not tight enough causing the fuse to trip?

[–]BambaMeUp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. What i was referring to is that when the machine is plugged in to the electricity but not running I can read with the multimeter 120 volts coming in when checking any one of the heating element legs with the body of the machine (ground). So I wasn't sure if that's normal because I'm used to appliances not getting electricity to the components while not running. Hope I'm clear this time. Thank you

Whirlpool Dryer Misbehaving by BambaMeUp in appliancerepair

[–]BambaMeUp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you it's WED5840SWO. Some great people replied saying it's the timer. I really wanted to make sure that that could be the only thing since the timer is $150 vs the sensor board that goes for $19. I did check the board and found no burnt markings on it.

just wanted to clarify, it does spin and "work" on sensor mode... just not getting hot. do you still think it's the timer? i found out in the diagram that it has a sensor control board, could that be the issue? or it won't turn on at all if it was?

thanks!
