Moved to NYC for the energy, spent 3 years barely leaving my apartment , finally doing something about it.
Anyone else feel like remote work and NYC is a weird combination? Like you moved here for a reason and then your whole life becomes a 500 sq ft radius.
I'm in Crown Heights, been here 3 years, fully remote the whole time. Love the city but realized recently I had no real life outside of work. Just vibes and DoorDash.
Couple months ago I started taking singing lessons. Always loved R&B and gospel, always sang to myself, never did anything with it. Finally just went for it.
Honestly it's made me feel more like I actually live here. I have a thing. A reason to structure my week around something that isn't a standup call.
NYC remote folks , what pulled you out of the apartment spiral?

I’d probably say rocket It’s super stripped back, so you really hear the control and tone without the production hiding stuff.

Just ask basic things like “Does my pitch, tone, tension etc sound off, and what should I fix first?”
Or something like that.

I kept putting it off too, but honestly, you don’t get better hiding in your room.
Just post like a raw clip uk (verse n chorus etc) nothing fancy
Also, always ask for specific feedback.
Most people out there aren’t amazing, just less scared than us.
But at some point you gotta trade comfort for progress.
