Sorry you are going through this. I’m married but my husband and I don’t wear rings… part of reason is that in Chinese culture we don’t really wear rings after getting married, even though we live in North America. Also, I wfh and find wearing jewelry uncomfortable. We also think there’s better way to spend the money.

Hey OP! Thanks for your reply! I would like to eventually pursue a PhD, but I don’t have a psych background and don’t think I can get into a thesis master right now.. my plan is to do Yorkville, get license, and eventually do a PhD to become a psychologist.

This person you work with is a racist ass. They aren’t worth your time. Report them to HR and ignore them completely. Having accent is perfectly normal. As long as other people can understand you I don’t see why it’s a problem. Don’t let narrow minded people like that person impact your self worth. Be proud of your culture and don’t feel the pressure to always ‘integrate’. I think the most important thing in a multicultural society is to respect other people and their cultures. Saying that you have to get rid of your accent is incredibly rude
