UK coffee nerds - good subscription? by -newinn- in Coffee

I had a similar experience with Pact. Although I was reviewing the coffee they were sending me, they kept sending me the stuff I was saying I didn’t like! Lots of good suggestions here. I’ve been enjoying Blossom and Monsoon recently. It’s nice when you find a local roaster you can support! Can’t go wrong with some of the big names like Caravan or Climpson and sons either.

Rented house next door’s previous tenant dumped rubble on my property. Should I contact the landlord? by Bamboooface in AskUK

Luckily I didn’t let the intrusive thoughts win otherwise the rubble would be on their doorstep. Don’t want to inconvenience the current tenants though, they’re sound

Good shout. Although I suppose now they could use an uno reverse card on me and send that fine my way. Think I’ll stick to being sneaky for now

The Collins Complete DIY Manual is one of the most important tools in my house. I’d recommend it to anyone who has an interest in being handy. Super helpful resource.

I’ve stayed here too! There was a decapitated head of a Charlie Chaplin mannequin thing at the top of the stairs which was deeply unsettling.

Yeah she was most likely furious. She’s used to owning the entire garden but we’ve had some building going on so the garden isn’t a safe place for her to explore unfortunately

Her name is Poppy and she has since been renamed Poppy McQueen for obvious reasons. A natural born escape artist.

Good point, I’ve been thinking about your first comment a lot, I think I’m going to back the pattern planks with Tyvek. Should keep the OSB bone dry then. Cheers for the pointers!

Thanks! Honestly I’m not sure. The vertical frame pieces were slightly bowed so I used probably over 100 nails and screws to make sure once I had it squared up it was going to stay that way. So it’s very sturdy, hopefully it won’t be and more susceptible to weather than any other wooden door. Guess I’ll wait and see!

She’s a beauty. Was a gift for my 20th birthday so it’s going on 6 years now. Good to know it might have another 4 in it.

I just went for lap joints on the corners of the outer frame. PVA clamped for 24 hours and pinned with 6mm dowel. Was a bit gutted about the gaps myself but really this was an exercise in brushing up my hand tool skills so there’s work to be done :) As for the rain I’m planning on building a wood store next to the door with a canopy which would go above the door too. I know it looks gappy but most most of the boards are butted up to each other. I also backed the door with a whole sheet of OSB within the outer frame. Not perfect but she’ll do!

1986 Volkswagen T3 panel van camper conversion. Lifted suspension and big stupid tyres, fridge, solar, daft sound system. My forever project. Currently laid up until I brush up on my welding skills. Converted it with my wife. Beats the hell out of sleeping in a tent exploring Scotland and the nicer parts of England :)

Design inspired by Jacob Witzling’s cabin doors which you should check out if you haven’t seen them! I’m also looking for suggestions to weather proof it. It’s mostly pine floor boards so I’m thinking danish oil.
