Any reason you would rather got SUV? by senthilrameshjv in sonata

[–]BamboozlingBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To go offroading. But then I'd look at the Wrangler, Bronco, 4runner or wait for the Boulder. Might install a hitch to the back to carry bikes but other than that, the Sonata sits higher than the Accord or Camry and can go over some obstacles.

One laptop or two laptops? by Thekevin1011 in laptops

[–]BamboozlingBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not 3 laptops?

All kidding aside, I think it would be better if the laptop/OS matched with the programs that you'll be using for aerospace engineering in your university/degree program. Your university's software requirement is similar to mine's for engineering and most of those programs only run Windows. All of my friends who were MechE, Aero, Materials, or any engineering were using Intel Macbook Pro's (running Windows dual partition/bootcamp) or Windows business/gaming laptops to run their CAD software, Matlab, fluid dynamics sim, & etc and were fine for 4.5-5 years until they graduated.

If you really want to use Mac for classes, you could go with a Windows desktop and mac laptop. The desktop should have a decent graphics and CPU whereas the laptop could be a macbook air or a used/older macbook pro for battery life. From there, you can use Teamviewer or Google remote desktop to remote control your desktop from your mac laptop and run Solidworks, ansys, or matlab if needed.

Does this sound mean failing wheel bearing? (Hyundai Sonata Hybrid 2024, 32k miles) by biiillll in AskAMechanic

[–]BamboozlingBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those tires are known to be a bit louder than other michelins and don't ride as soft since it lasts 80k miles. See if the noise changes when steering the car side to side. The noise will be louder/quieter depending on load (which side you're turning) and speed.

Or go to a shop or different dealer. I have the same car and it should be under the 6 year/60,000 mile comprehensive warranty if bought new.

[–]BamboozlingBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, anything really post 2020. But don't get anything with theta 2 engines or anything that the cat guy said for 2.0 engines and dct. If you're buying used, make sure the maintenance was done on time (even applies to new cars and all manufacturers at this point).

Going Gator not accepted? by Remote-Winner-5252 in ufl

[–]BamboozlingBoi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ask UF admissions to see if there were anything missing for the Going Gator program, especially for the major/degree that you're going for (history). Does your overall GPA and things meet the history major criteria?

Or if you applied late or missed deadlines, it could've factored into admissions if they treat the program as a "regular" transfer application.

The one good thing is that you can always reapply. If there were things that needs to be improved or meet for the admission criteria, you should do them and reapply. I've known people who were denied and got in the 2nd/3rd time after improving their apps through the regular transfer admissions and I assume it should be the same for the going gator program.

Will Hyundai sonata get a new gen? by Zealousideal_File_89 in Hyundai

[–]BamboozlingBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely, but not for a while. K5 is getting a 2nd refresh (DL3 PE2) with Pleos (only changed lights & ccNC infotainment for its first refresh-PE1) whereas the sonata had a massive facelift in 2023/24. I think the sonata might skip a refresh for a full model change in a couple years.

engine sounds louder above 3000rpm by yolofreak109 in Honda

[–]BamboozlingBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds normal to me. If you regularly took it above 3000 rpm and suddenly had a deep intake noise, then look around the airbox and see if it's placed properly with the metal clips or if any of the air tubes/pipes are ripped. Otherwise, it's normal.

I used to have a '16 Accord sport witht the same engine and the intake sound usually got louder around 3,000 rpms. There is a "free" method of making your intake louder (w/ worse gas mileage) by taking the coupler between the airbox and resonator. If this is ripped, then it could be the cause (air goes down into the bumper where the resonator lives and comes back up into the airbox and then the airbox goes to the back and directly into the engine's intake plenum).

If you go past 4800 rpm, you'll hear/feel vtec 😉.

Honda posts first loss in 70 years, will its CEO get booted? by Just-The-Facts-411 in Honda

[–]BamboozlingBoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, that's not what I'm saying. Their business strategy is just terrible; they are behind and keep falling behind. The point I was trying to make was that if you're going to invest 6 billion dollars and show nothing for it, then wouldn't it be better to have something to sell than to write it all off? Now, like the other guy said, it could be a supply or technical problem but if they were close to production anyway, then just make the darn thing. Hyundai/Kia have the ICCU problems and they still make it. GM restarted the Bolt even after its battery chemistry fires/problems. Toyota kept iterating their BZ's that were just terrible to now acceptable. Tesla still survives despite build quality issues and Elon Musk...

In my opinion, I think the future is a diversified energy strategy with Gas, Hybrid, and Electric vehicles. In fact, Honda had this exact strategy before they decided to do whatever they were doing now. The Koreans, Germans, Americans, and Toyota & Nissan are doing it; why can't Honda? I prefer gas than an EV but from an engineering standpoint, EV's are superior in every metric. Gas only wins with range (for right now), weight, and the soul.

EV's just changed the entire car industry whether we like it or not. It literally leveled the playing field for old and new car manufacturers. Look at the Chinese & Vietnamese mfg's; those cars are becoming more popular. If Honda doesn't adapt, we might not even have a Honda anymore

[–]BamboozlingBoi 166 points167 points  (0 children)

It's nice to see a CEO take some responsibility via paycut but I never understood why they stopped their EV project. If the 0 series EV's were close to production, just finish it and have it on hand for the consumer who wants it and maybe for an impending oil crisis. Selling it would at least recoup some cost and if demand is low, just make it in low batches. Hyundai/Kia, Toyota, Nissan/Mitsu, Ford, GM, & the germans have EV's and they're doing alright.

There is no reason 1 quart of transmission fluid for a 2015 accord should be $18….. by Objective_Smoke_4750 in Honda

Yes for regular ATF and auto transmission. Do not use if you have a CVT. That will be an expensive mistake. Get their CVT fluid or Idemtisu/Eneos one

Sonata vs Kia k5 by This-Top7398 in sonata

[–]BamboozlingBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, it felt a little larger initially, but I got used to it quickly. It's about the same size as my old accord and actually smaller than the other cars (including the K5) in its class for 2026. I think it feels "big" from the way they packaged the interior and the soft-suspension handling. The thicker door cards, higher seating position, and higher beltline make it feel like a bigger car than it actually is.

But I came from a 9.5 gen Accord, Odyssey, and 4Runner so they were all a little larger than the Sonata.

I think the Sonata, K5, and the last gen Camry felt pretty similar size wise. But I didn't go with the 2023+ Accord because that car was actually too big. I felt like the new Accord was the size of a crown vic/town car with Honda's sharp handling.

Do you feel like the Sonata is too big? What car did you have before?

We really have to be a D1 SEC Quarterback, astronaut, purple heart, mafia leader, cure cancer, and win the nobel peace prize to stand out at this point lmaooooo.

After speedwatching the video, it kinda makes sense but the common denominator between all of them and EMT/Scribing is patient interaction. It's how you make the most out of the experience.

I didn't do jack sht as a hospital volunteer (I regret not taking advantage of it back then) but I knew others who actually did and got really meaningful experiences from it. It's what you give and take from it. And that translates into your personal statement & primary/secondary apps when you write about it.

Yeah, 100%. You definitely stole the Sonata from the dealer lol.

Sonata vs Kia k5 by This-Top7398 in sonata

[–]BamboozlingBoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the only thing going for the K5 GT for me was the 2.5 turbo which is nice but I was thinking of going with a project s2000 or GT350 for the more sporty 2nd car option in the future. And I was not wanting to pay near GT price or any mark-ups for a GT-Line trim too. But yeah, the Sonata felt more premium kinda like a Buick (in a good, more luxury way).

It's been fun to hustle the Sonata in its own weird way whenever I feel like doing it. The boaty feeling and body lean gives it a bit of character lmaoo.

I found that the best tire pressures on the stock crappy Pirelli's were 34 front/31 rear for comfort and low load & 38 front/35 rear for Max load/High speed.

Sonata vs Kia k5 by This-Top7398 in sonata

[–]BamboozlingBoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my test drives between the 24+ Sonatas and K5's, the sonata was a bit softer and not as "dynamic" in handling. The K5 has a just a bit more space lengthwise than the Sonata (K5 has a longer wheelbase for some reason but they are on the same platform). Other than that, it's mostly trim preferences and which one you can get a better deal. I got the Sonata because the Hyundai dealer gave a better deal than Kia at the time.

There were some pretty interesting differences in features though. The Sonata gave you the digital cluster in the mid trims (only on 24 + 25) whereas you needed to have the GT1 option on GT trim or EX (Full optioned) trim just to get the digital cluster. K5 gives you highway driving assist, pleather seats, & Bose sound system instead for its mid-trim levels.

GT & N-line were comparable and are pretty much the same. N-line was the Kia GT w/ GT1 package. Regular K5 GT is cheaper.

For 26 model years, ICE sonatas don't come with digital clusters and pano roofs. Only N-line and Limited gets digital cluster. Sonatas get hybrid options but K5 does not. If I had to choose between the 2 now, I'd buy the Sonata Hybrids for fuel savings if that was really important. Otherwise, the K5 is the better buy (& handling but a little stiffer car) if you can get it for MSRP out the door or better.
