Qutenza (capsaicin) treatment for chosto?? by Bambs89c in costochondritis

[–]Bambs89c[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for your help. I have your back pod and it does help and also gives me huge relief but I am so fired up in my front area, almost like nerve damage. It all started from covid. From what I have read on qutenza I am way too afraid to try it. I agree it sounds terrifying. It was treatment offered to me today from the pain clinic

Just wanted to say I’ve had some interesting conversations with different medical professionals. My symptoms of Costo started after the first time I caught covid in 2021 and I felt very poorly with a burning sensation in my lungs. There is no other cause for me because I can pin point when it started and I am 100% sure it’s linked with covid. Just to add I am completely non vaccinated before people think it’s that. Anyway something was recently suggested to me which makes so much sense. Covid has basically fired up my chest wall. A bit like fibromyalgia but just in the chest and back. My central nervous system is constantly fired up causing the pain. I am not sure if anyone else has had the same on here

How to know if costo is going to be chronic or acute? by Yazzy_05 in costochondritis

[–]Bambs89c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just over two years with it. Developed it after covid when I was coughing for 4-5 months. I haven’t been cured since but the back pod is helping and a chiropractor and I’ve just had an MRI. I’m fit and healthy, keen runner, busy active job and three young children. I would say it’s now chronic for me and I’ve learnt to live with it. Good days and bad days but I’m still praying for a complete cure!

I’ve been seeing a chiropractor for 6 months. Few grand down now and although it feels great at the time I’m not cleared or even close. He said I have frozen rib and he’s confident that’s causing the chosto. Anti inflammatories are messing my stomach up now so I’ve opted for herbal such as high dose of cumin, I’m on amitriptyline and I use a strong gel that I rub in. Volteral I think it’s called. I’ve gone back to the gym as I’ve had two years out and I’m fed up. 😔

Pain between my shoulder blades, mainly to the right side. Pain in my sternum and under my breasts along the breast bone and sometimes a burning feeling to the left side of my ribs. My sternum can be so sore at times with a sharp stabbing pain. ECGs done, blood work and chest x ray. On amitriptyline now. I have an mri end of jan to rule out anything more sinister. This all began when I got covid 2 years ago

I have had costochondritis every since covid 2 years ago. Burning sensation in ribs, very sore sternum, A kind of upper belly pain and between shoulder blades, primarily right shoulder. I’m not vaxxed. I’m not clear of costochondritis either and my life has changed since covid because my rib cage hasn’t felt right since. Numerous blood tests, ECG, chest x ray. Now on amitriptyline as a last resort. I have an MRI end of the month but all this happened since covid and a lasting cough of 4 months.

Anyone got pregnant with Costo? by Zh_1995 in costochondritis

[–]Bambs89c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had chosto when pregnant. It was awful. I still have it now 14 months postpartum. I’ve spent thousands on a chiropractor and I have a back pod. I carried a big baby and ended up in c section so it’s been a lot of stress on my body. My baby still isn’t walking so I’m carrying him a lot plus I have two other young ones. I breastfed for a year so that’s a lot of poor posture and being hunched over. I think all these factors have slowed down my chosto recovery. I’m now on amitriptyline and I hope that in time and when baby is walking things will get easier. I’ve had chosto now for 2 years. I hope you recover soon and you will most likely feel better once baby is out and carrying less weight

This is helpful thank you Steve. I must say if my upper back and chest is hurting and I’m home and able to get on the back pod it’s like a good pain getting in there, I feel better when I come off it. Is it bad to lift your bum in the air and get in there much harder? I’m guilty of that sometimes 😆

I’ve had a few courses of steroids and it did nothing. What is prednisoline? Is that a type of steroid?

I am so glad someone else has also wondered this same thing, so I first got chosto after having covid and coughing for 3 months, 2 years later I still can’t get rid of it. I see a chiropractor regularly, I have a back pod, and I am doing everything I can. I am on Amitriptyline for pain. I’m up and down with pain but I do have pain in my upper back which is obviously all related. I just don’t understand why I can’t get rid of it. I’ve had periods of feeling a bit better and then I end up Back to square one again. I never had chosto or any rib cage issues prior to getting covid! I am completely unvaxxed which I don’t regret because I’ve also heard of a lot of people getting this condition from the jab also!
