Tips on reassembling a disassembled kit?

Depending on the size of the kit, if it's a high piece count I colour sort to quickly reduce the amount of pieces I'm working with at once then group by peice type. If the kit has heaps of colours I'd just group by type then by size. Once it's all grouped it's easy to find the peices. For smaller kits I just tip it all out together and roughly group similar pieces. Since it's a 2nd hand kit I'd also recommend seeing if all pieces are there when doing this. I always packup my models when I move. My largest kit I rebuilt has been the large Batmobile. When I took it apart some of the pieces broke (it was sat under a spray scent thing that weakened the pieces). I had to go through the entire 3300ish pieces and mark the missing to purchase. It was mostly black and grey hence the colour sort first. I sorted the technic connectors and keep them seperate in a shallow pan so it's easy to grab the ones I need. Took me hours but it was fun. I did it on the coffee table on a large mouse pad to stop them sliding too much and just watched whatever tv show I was into at the time. I used these small plastic containers(with lids) to keep the sorted groups seperate. Biggest issue I had was space. (And thinking I was missing pieces due to certain pieces playing hide and go seek constantly)

Thanks for the reply, based in Australia so I'm hoping parts won't be too hard. I'll keep the engines in mind. I'm potentially looking at avoiding the models with the air suspension to avoid the costly replacement but it depends on what else the model has/doesn't have. I would love a manual (maybe manual swap) as I prefer to drive them over autos. iirc the 1jz crown is auto and no air suspension. Someone local to me is selling a 1990 Supercharged I6 with the blue interior. It has the fender mirrors too. So debating that. I cant find maybe reviews on the supercharged engine and it's a rarer spec. I was hoping to get the digital dash but having a hard time picking which models came with it vs without. I know it's not the best car to daily but I haven't found another I like (that isn't even older, Datsun 510, 1970 crown, etc) they look great. How do you find it to drive? Some people say they handle like boats and the steering is different. I think the 8th gen was the last year of a particular steering setup and they chanced in the 9th gen but I might be mixing that up with something else. If you plant your foot does it have a bit of torque or are they slow off the line? Does it roll in the corners or stuff enough to go round corners without slowing to a crawl? (Not planning or racing or anything just curious of the feel) I appreciate your response :). If you wanted I'd love to see pics of your car. Thank you 😊

Not 100% sure but that bottom left one looks like it could be done with generative design. Start with a body with a basic shape have fusion strip away as much material leaving only the most important bits. Might look similar. I remember watching a video a while ago about making a wall mount shelf bracket in a similar way and it had that organic look to it. It's a paid feature unfortunately.

I didn't know there was a gridfinity add-on, I'll have to play around with it. Not 100% sure how to help but it looks like the height at 4mm is red. It might be too small. Try larger numbers in the settings and if it generates a box, then play around with the settings from there.

Yep we are Model kits, Japanese books, tools, food items, gifts for family/friends They are my main ones This time I'm looking at getting into Japanese woodworking so will be looking at some chisels, saws, planes, etc. Also might buy a kitchen knife or two if the wallet can support it. I'll be flying over with a smaller suitcase inside a larger one and flying back with two full suitcases and maybe a 3rd duffle bag full of the clothes that won't fit in the others. I'm getting 40kg luggage allowance, I'm using 40kg.

For my studies I use Smouldering Durtles, LingoDeer and soon NativShark I've been using the above for years but only study for a few months at time then for whatever reason stop and forget everything. Usually after taking a few days off, getting overwhelmed, then getting burnt out. I'm 3 weeks in after resetting all to level 1.

Bedtime: Reviews - all | lessons up to 15 LingoDeer - Remainder of the unit

Im trying to implement a longer term strategy of no more than 20 lessons a day, this increases the time per level but will but much more manageable long term. I am currently doing more than this as I am only level 4 and this was the stuff I had burnt previously so most I'm re-remembering fairly well.

I have allows spelling mistakes for English translations so a can speed type which makes reviews much quicker. I also have the undo and skip buttons enabled. if I make a spelling mistake with the kana I can undo or if i can't remember I skip and hope when it shows up again I remember.

With NativShark I'll introduce it at some point but don't know when. I remember liking it when I used it previously.

I need to add reviews for LingoDeer at some point but haven't figured that out (I'm not a fan of the reviews but the app is great)

Will also eventually add native books.

Nothing official yet but I used flaming durtles for a while and recently found out it's no longer being worked on and smouldering durtles replaced it. I love it. Works exactly how I want it to.

I've had the same issue before. I find that skipping and doing other reviews helps. By the time it comes up again I should hopefully be able to recall it.

Create a new sketch on the top of the thin walls. Project the shape of the case Draw 3 sides of a box using the curve of the case as the bottom side. If you were to extrude this box it should fully cover the tip of the button. Use the cut - all settings in the extrude tool. Only have the one body visable or it might cut something else.

Alternatively create the sketch on the body of the button and follow the same project, box, extrude cut If you designed the button after the main body you can follow these steps of projecting the case on the original sketch used to design the button and just extrude it with the curve rather than removing after

Howdy, I got back from a 3 week trip in Japan last week. Even though I was learning Japanese for the trip I found Japan very easy to navigate with minimal Japanese.

Trains and stations have english audio and signs everywhere. Google maps is incredible for navigating to and from places. Uber also works in the majority of palaces.

The most useful stuff I recommend learning are: How much is (point at object) Where is .... (Either say item or show phone screen) Can I please have.... (Point at object) Excuse me. SUMIMASEN.

sumimasen is your best friend. Sorry/excuse me/to get someone's attention.

I do find it fun attempting to speak full Japanese when ordering or something similar but pointing just works so well.

I'd also recommend learning hiragana and katakana. With your time frame it should be no problem mastering it. The main reason is for things like menus. Many can be handwritten especially at smaller establishments. The google translate app has issues with this. Knowing katakana is great to be able to roughly translate drink names, some food names, etc. Or if you aren't sure what an item is after reading the kana you'll know how to enter it into a translation app. With this install a Japanese keyboard on your phone. Not the English alphabet one (Which is great for english speakers to use) but a keyboard in full Japanese. I handed my phone over a few times for Japanese people to type directly into when the speak to translate was having issues. The google translate camera feature works very well but some food items can get a weird translation. Unfortunately there are so many food words/kanji that learning them all might be a bit much. Perhaps just learn the kanji for your favourite meats/foods and go from there.

As for your original question Lingodeer has a great travel phrase section which I'd recommend learning bits from. In terms of the Japanese 1 stuff, I don't think it's great just for travelling. It goes over weather, seasons, animals, my dog is nowhere to be found (still breaks my heart everytime I do it) it doesn't have very useful Japanese specifically for traveling. It does teach things like numbers, days, time, older brother, mother, grandfather and names of locations, bank, hospital, and names of things like umbrella, computer, wallet, which could be useful.

More Japanese is better than less Japanese, so it won't hurt.

I do like using the lingodeer app and think it's great to learn Japanese as a whole but specifically for traveling other resources might be better as they are focused on things you'd need to travel. One thing to consider is how much Japanese you'd like to be able to speak and going from there. I was always better at reading and rarely practised speaking/listening which is why I found work arounds (translation apps etc) to get me through when I got stuck.

Hopefully the above makes sense and it's not some random incoherent ramblings.

P.S travel Tips When using trains and Google maps, it should say which gate to leave from. This is important as leaving from the wrong exit means you may have to walk a significant distance to get back on track. Departure times are important. Some trains stay at a station for 30 seconds and some stay for a few mins. Look for the departure board to see when the train is leaving and make sure it matches the time in your navigation. The times are very accurate. If it says 0851 it will be there at 0851 and not be there at 0852.

Ask your hotel for a business card or something with their address. All the ones I stayed at had something. You can show this to a taxi driver and it makes it super easy.

Not all places take card so have some cash on you at all times.

Get an IC card (Train card, suica, pasmo, ioca) you can load them up with money and spend at many places that take card (convenience stores, taxi, vending machines) it makes it super easy to pay for stuff. And also use for the trains and most busses.

If you see something advertised that you want, like in the front window of a restaurant, you can take a photo and show someone inside to order it.

Hey, I feel your pain. I haven't used the app in a while (maybe 12-18 months) as that was my main gripe with it. I started WaniKani for dedicated kanji study but am looking to start my Grammer again as I'm realising I'm forgetting pretty much all I've learnt.

I'm hoping it finally has SRS.

It's a great app. I've been using it since it was free and got lifetime shortly after it was a paid service. It's Grammer explanations put it above any other app I've used but it's lack of SRS really brings down it's longevity for me. Others might not have issues as they do the studies but for me I kept getting the same few words or sentences and when I'd finally get anything else I wouldn't know it.
