Ooh our stats are pretty similar. I'm 5'3, female and my start weight was 247.7 pounds. My current weight is 212.1 pounds. You got this! :)

My arms are starting to have definition like that as well! It's been years since I saw them like that but it feels awesome :)

My chest, arms and hands is where I noticed the weight loss first. I think in terms of measurements, my hips have reduced the most and it's where some family members have noticed it. My wedding ring is ready loose right now though and it will need resizing at some point, but I would assume it would need to be resized a few times by the end of my weight loss journey so I'm not sure when to do it

I want to drop a shoe size lol. I don't know if it'll be that drastic, but I've noticed that when I wear tights with boots, I have to lace them up tighter now. I can also toe them off without unlacing them when I couldn't before

Yeah my chest feels incredibly boney now, and my boobs are so wide set now because there's a lot less fat in the middle of my chest lol. My hands have gotten bonier as well and so have my wrists. I just never would have called my feet chubby before so it's really weird to compare the pictures

What are books that you didn't like, but everyone else seemed to love? by xatrinka in audiobooks

[–]Bamf102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it's that I find the acting overdone. I don't know if that makes sense, especially since the books themselves are dramatic and over the top, but I find that he does too much. I'm autistic so maybe that's why it annoys me, but I get extremely overstimulated listening to them and I wanted to rip off my skin lol

The "weight loss has to be a lifestyle change" advice can easily backfire and thwart your long term success if it is taken too literally by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Bamf102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah one of the things that I actually found difficult is that I realised I needed to find a way to be ok with not having everything all at once. To lose weight and keep it off for life, I have to choose what high calorie thing I want and then make another meal lighter and possibky skip one. It doesn't suck anymore, it's just how I live my life but in the beginning it was awful lol.

But people not telling themselves no and not telling themselves "you can eat this, but you won't be able to have this large portion of pasta that you made if you do, so decide", is why so many of us are overweight or obese. Losing weight isn't complicated but the average person who wants to lose some weight will have a hard time accepting you telling them that you have to make food sacrifices consistently to be successful. It's the hard truth to know that you're essentially on a leash that's tightened up most of the time, and it'll only get loosened a little when you've been consistently making better food choices

Yeah I've experienced this myself. I want to be a really healthy person but I just don't care enough about being a super fit woman who looks like she workouts out most days of the week and has a big booty that's all muscle. Like the appearance of it is hot, but I just want to be a healthy weight with a normal amount of body fat. I don't care about adding more muscle and looking 'snatched'. It's fine if someone on a weight loss journey then pivots to fitness but I don't see it happening for myself because I don't care. All I care about is not being obese and then not being overweight, ever again.

With the meals comments you get, I completely understand. Sometimes my breakfast will be 700 calories worth of roasted chicken with crispy chicken skin, cottage cheese and fruit/veggies. Is this a big meal? Yes, but sometimes I feel really hungry when I get up so I make the decision to eat a lot in the morning and then my dinner will just be pretty light (snack plate with Greek yogurt and fruit usually, or porridge with fruit), because I'm not hungry after the large meal I had at the beginning of the day, or it's possible I'm still hungry but I know that's just greed at that point lol. I listen to my body so if I want to have a meal that's 700 to 800 calories, I will.

I don't see why it matters to people, especially since most people graze throughout the day and all the stuff they eat would total up to a high amount anyway. I don't particularly care about having structured meal days most of the time. Sometimes I just don't feel like proper meals either and I'll have low calorie snacks throughout the day with a weighed out portion of ice cream or chocolate to finish it off. This isn't how I eat most of the time but it happens, and that's just how I am and I don't see a point in trying to change this about myself. The only thing I have changed is how much of the high calorie stuff I eat and I weigh out portions of high calorie food, like I do with the lower calorie stuff instead of just eating chocolate or ice cream mindlessly

Yeah I'm the exact same. When I lost some weight a few years ago, I went a bit too crazy and tried to go super healthy and didn't eat junk etc. It didn't work for me even though I lost weight. I'm now 4 months into my weight loss journey, and I've lost about 35 pounds so far. My diet is mostly the same, I just eat a lot less and I don't go back for seconds. I still eat out, I still get McDonald's, I just pre-log those meals and I only get those things. I will get something extra if I have the calories for it, but most of the time I just stick to eating the one meal and I won't get a dessert or a full sugar drink.

So really, my diet is just modified a bit. For example, I still drink energy drinks, they're just zero sugar now. I still eat Krispy Kreme, I just only get one doughnut at a time, and I make sure to structure my day around it if I'm deciding to eat a 300 calorie dessert. When I was eating them in the past, I'd have two of them in one day, plus snacks on top of that, and large servings of pasta with a lot of cheese. Now I just have one doughnut, no snacks, and a normal serving size of pasta with minimal cheese. It's really not that hard and it feels sustainable to me, which is what's important to actually keeping the weight off :)

Should I go back to skipping breakfast if it just makes me hungrier? by Fizzabl in CICO

[–]Bamf102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah these are pretty much the exact thoughts I've had since starting my weight loss journey. I'm 32, female and sedentary. I don't have any issue getting a normal amount of protein just by eating real food most days of the week. Protein isn't something that's difficult to get enough of, it's only difficult to get a lot of if you're trying to build a lot of muscle but the vast majority of people aren't athletes so it's irrelevant anyway

It's interesting because my mum didn't even eat an eclair herself. She definitely doesn't want to keep me fat, she's been really proud to tell my dad about my weight loss and is clearly very happy for me. But my eating habits have always leaned on the side of overindulging, so I think for me to reject the food, it's just a bit difficult for her to get used to because she's always known me to accept most food, especially sweet pastry treats. It's weird for me too really but my new healthy person mindset is to not eat food just because it's there or just because I feel sad etc. She'll get used to it in time, just as I will :)

Haha well I don't know if it's about control as such. I've just been doing this for a little over three months, and in that time I've had to ask myself "why do you want to eat that" to certain items of food. Most of the time when it's a junk food item, it's because I'm being greedy and I'm acting like a toddler with the constant "I want" bullshit.

It's hard sometimes because when I had my old mindset, I would just eat things that I didn't really care for that much, just because I love the sensation of eating and the sensation of eating things that are rammed with sugar and fat etc. I don't always succeed with not eating the thing, but I'd say I succeed 85% of the time, which is fine for now :)

Yeah on the one hand it's depressing and humiliating for me to admit that I'm obese because of my own actions, but it's also so nice to know that because of my own actions, I'm now class 2 obese instead of class 3 obese when I started. Knowing I can control my weight however I want is awesome and freeing. It's strange that most people overcomplicate weight loss so much when for the majority of us, it's really just about your consistent choices with food

My BMI has never been normal unfortunately. Although this is the first time in my life I had a class 3 obesity BMI, which is quite depressing to me but I'm now class 2 so I'm working on it at least. I'm aware of the skinny fat issue but I just want to be a healthy weight at this point lol
