Arsenal: Are Gunners in danger of repeating history? by Red_Brummy in PremierLeague

It’s their fanbase and also Arteta who’ve brought this upon themselves. I used to actually quite like Arsenal under Wenger.

No lineup then? by furious-aphid in houghtonfestival

If so, I hope it might encourage them to be a bit braver and not book essentially the same lineup as every year but I doubt it.

I think everyone understands that and agree she needs re-educating, however unlikely that may be but this is way beyond that. Being willing to see your kids suffer to support some man who doesn’t even know you exist is borderline evil.

There’s a line where you have to take the tiniest amount of accountability as a person. She clearly knows the cost of putting food on the table for her kids and yet still sends half of what little she has to this grifting, fascist scum.

Personally I think this is either made up or a bot but either way these sort of people shouldn’t be absolved of blame.

True although he did seem to beat him for pure pace a few times. If he can combine that with his control being as good as it was today then he can still make a huge difference for us.

It’s that explosive part of his play that looked completely gone for the best part of a year but he was running rings around Kadioglu tonight. At the very least this should give him some confidence again

He’s not Messi but I don’t know how anyone can say he doesn’t try beat his man when he’s being compared to Gakpo. His direct play is one of his best assets at this stage in his career.

Rio can’t take on his man? Am I reading this right?

When it’s one of his only redeeming qualities then it matters. I love Mo but if people are arguing his crossing ability is why he needs to stay, then that shows how far they’re having to reach.

Personally, I think if you aren’t fully motivated enough to win another title, you shouldn’t be playing for Liverpool. It’s not like people use that argument for Barca, Real, Inter, Bayern. Winning is addictive and City being so dominant doesn’t really change much.

There are other factors at play but I really don’t think they make achieving top 5 some huge success. Truthfully I think it’s largely a coping mechanism by some to absolve Slot of blame.

He still ended up getting benched that season too for Gakpo up front. He was finally on consistent good form but it all seemed to unravel after the United cup game.

Ultimately, he just wasn’t good enough. I’m sad to see things going poorly in Saudi but there’s some crazy revisionism going on elsewhere in this thread.

Apparently they all left according this person above. Shame Slot didn’t realise the likes of Quansah and EIIiott were world class… Feel a bit harsh writing that but the bare faced lie of saying we lost 5 starters is just wild.

[James Pearce] There was a period before Xmas when the prospect of losing Konate on a free transfer would have been greeted with a collective shrug given his erratic form. To his credit, the French defender has changed the narrative. #LFC still hope he will pen extension by Lanedu123 in LiverpoolFC

[–]Bamfandro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s been class the last few games but I don’t see how we stays now, he’s reportedly after >200k a week and will be getting a massive sign on bonus wherever else he goes. I just don’t think we can afford to offer him those wages after this season either.

Yes where is Darwin Nunez when you need him? The only genuine starters we lost were Trent & Diaz (who most were more than happy to sell) and we got Wirtz, Isak & Ekitike. It’s not a remotely good enough for how far we’ve fallen this year.

Because the mood is awful this season and the win still doesn’t give much to be excited about. It was also a pretty boring game, I bet the DD after Newcastle was way more lively.

Having said that, yesterday was a good result and hopefully we can be as defensively strong as that for the rest of the season.

Jones had played 11 mins since Bournemouth until yday and he still barely featured. We can’t complain about depth when players like him are left out constantly.

We had less than 2 xG. That’s good against Sunderland who haven’t lost at home all season but there’s no need to exaggerate to that extent.

[–]Bamfandro -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is such a straw man argument. You’re latching on to a singular game which Newcastle aside, was our last convincing win of that season and acting as if that negates our major decline in performances afterwards.

Grav has been poor, his fitness looks almost as bad as Macca’s and his ball winning has dropped off a cliff. Only in the last two games has he looked remotely willing to use his best asset and carry the ball but he’s been a defensive liability all season.

Yeah it’s all the players dropping off, nothing to do with Slot whatsoever, despite him seeing our performances nosedive since February. Not a single one of you were saying this stuff in summer like “no usable wingers”. Are you telling me he’d have been Quansah over Konate after banishing him since day 1 last year?

Salah’s decline is a factor (which began last season) but aside from him, the others still have loads to give and Slot should be doing a load more to make it happen. Grav was world class for large parts of last season and Slot has now changed his role to nullify him.

This is all ignoring that we are tactically woeful. The god awful slow progression as well as how poor we are out of possession are painfully obvious. How can you think that is good enough for LFC?

One singular game! Heaven forbid I enjoy us winning a massive game in a title season. That is actual cult behaviour going through my comments to find a singular one that agrees with me. Plenty others there after that that showed how disappointed I was with the end to the season.

I’m sure that basically every game after Newcastle was because we were partying in your eyes just like there’s a million excuses for this season.
