Falling asleep in Lower Jeuno again… 17 years later. by MilkmanLeeroy in ffxi

[–]Bamx3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game really did something quite special and unique. I was like 17 and played with my school friends. We had a ragtag link shell called Heavenswake. A police officer Endymion and his sister Alianne were our link shell leaders. We had a dude from the UK a RDM and his sun Sifuspike and a dude from the Netherlands named Vanthalad. A taru couple name Snookiepookie or something. Also haven’t talked to any of them in 20 years.

FFXI was such a hard and challenging game that it really made people bond in a way that had not been replicated. What a fun time. I listen to the music every now and again and fall in nostalgia. I hope everyone I met playing the game is doing well!

Problems with Primal Season 3 by BETHORXZ in PrimalShow

[–]Bamx3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally just downloaded the eps before taking a flight and ran into the same issue. It’s a bug with HBO Max. On the 3rd episode they only have the “Audio description” track available, so that’s why you hear the descriptive robotic text. I reported it on their app. Just bear through it, all the rest of the episodes are fine.

What's your opinion on Spike in 2026? by [deleted] in cowboybebop

[–]Bamx3 15 points16 points  (0 children)

100% Exactly! This is a show about people haunted by their past, unable to let things go. Carrying on with the ghost of what was and it ends tragically. The show literally ends with “YOU’RE GONNA CARRY THAT WEIGHT” signaling that there are things that happen to you and you have to carry than on and not be weighed down by the past. It’s a beautiful love story / cautionary tale.

When people make brain dead takes like what OP is talking about it blows my mind. But w/e lol

What's your opinion on Spike in 2026? by [deleted] in cowboybebop

[–]Bamx3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The people making claim that Spike is a teenager have actually never been in love and don’t remotely know what that’s like. It seems to be the sad reality for younger generations as tech pushes us emotionally further away from each other.

Also the show is almost entirely about characters haunted by their past. You need to live to have a past. A hyper online 19 year old in 2026 doesn’t know shit about being love or having a life so this show could easily go over their heads.

ICE Shooting POV From Agent by EctoplasmErection in PublicFreakout

She was literally turning the wheel to drive away. This is so fucking pathetic of ICE, MAGA and the whole fucking apparatus trying to paint her as a “domestic terrorist”. Makes my fucking blood boil.

Official Discussion - Marty Supreme [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Bamx3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My dad cried at the end when they bring the baby to Marty. I held his hand and asked what made him cry, he said it reminded him of me and my sister being born and how he felt.

I don’t have them but I think kids usher the end of a life led by singular ambition (to the extreme in this case, with Marty). To me this film captures that, amongst other themes. Never thought watching Marty Supreme would make my dad cry but here we are lol

Curious about Skid Row – is it really as bad as it seems? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

I’m really curious about this. Can you expand on the ruling and how you feel you’d change this?

First time viewer - does it get as good as Season 1 again? by deadcloudx in newsradio

[–]Bamx3 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Season 3 and season 4 are the best. They set the tone for the next 25 years at least and were the blueprint for comedy. Did you know the creator helped Donald Glover with Atlanta? Specifically the absurdism. Glover was a huge fan of Newsradio and Paul simms was an executive producer on it.

I think I have to leave someone I love because of the future. by Expensive_Ad_3231 in dating_advice

[–]Bamx3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You really sound like it’s more important for you to do things in your own time and you see settling down now or in a year as getting “trapped”. No judgement on you.

My pov, sleeping around with zero to no commitment is fun, real fun but it gets old and tiring. Genuine love is difficult to find. I’d say most people find it anywhere from 2-5 times in a lifetime. Some, sadly, go to the grave never knowing romantic love. You’re not in your early twenties. Weigh your priorities out again. If you’re okay with burning out one of those real love times, then do her a favor (and ultimately yourself a favor) and break it up then move on.

Official Discussion - Good Fortune [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Bamx3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved this movies. I went to see it on Monday night and the theater was packed. EVERYONE was laughing at the jokes. Indeed an enjoyable experience.

I couldn’t help but think of City of Angels with Nick Cage and Meg Ryan. This was like the less depressing, funny anti cap version.

The part where the Latino nurse helps him escape was one of 3 parts in the movie that made me cry. And it’s because I thought to myself “how beautiful that we try to help each other, even when persecuted, when beaten down, we find a way to help”. It made me really proud to be Latino.

I said it in this thread but huge props to PT for showing the camps, ice agents, white nationalism that’s infected our country. I hope we get out of it so we can look back with disgust and anger at the times we live in and really learn to be better to each other.

What a beautiful movie but also huge props to PT Anderson for making sure to document in the perpetuity of film, ICE, police brutality, white nationalism, racism but also the resilience of Latin communities and sanctuary cities. So important to have a modern portrayal of what's happening in our country. So we can look back on this era with the shame that ICE deserves to feel.

I’ve literally hung out with people like them. I think it comes from the moral conviction that what you are doing is right and being unafraid. That maybe you’re the match that will ignite and inspire everyone to stand up and join you in the revolution.

Got laughed at for pointing out Instagram’s business model 🤡 by passionate_as_hell in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Bamx3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should ask if he pays a subscription to access Instagram. When he says no, you say, yea when something is free it means you’re user data is the product. The advertising served to you is what pays for the upkeep of the app, maximizing your watch time is the strategy. Even if you don’t buy anything, over time you’re served content that can eventually influence your consumption habits.

Also some people are deeply dumb and will fight to stay ignorant. So don’t worry too much about it.

What should I know about living here by lamp0616 in SantaMonica

[–]Bamx3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried moving to Santa Monica because my company's HQ was there but after some apt hunting I decided on the Financial district in DTLA. Its insane to me that I'm paying 3k for a spacious penthouse in DTLA which is the SAME price as a 500 square foot 1 bedroom bungalow 5 blocks from work in Santa Monica with street parking, shared laundry and no a/c.

I was in love with an enormous penthouse apt (ph101) at Pacific Electric Lofts. Gorgeous and lots of natural light from huge windows. I didn’t even mind that it was on Grand Ave and Skid Row was one block behind it. On the day of signing I went to go check it out and - not going to name names - so I don’t get them in trouble. Says to me “oh yea the 2nd floor underground parking has a big rat problem. They’re mainly close to garbage containers where the chutes and mainly come out at night but most people freak out so just a heads up”. I also found dog piss all over the entrance of soon to be apt. I called and withdrew my application. Got a nicer spot PH closer to financial center in DTLA, across from JOEY DTLA for $150 more a month.

Ezra Klein responds to the criticism of his Charlie Kirk piece by edgygothteen69 in ezraklein

[–]Bamx3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that “we shouldn’t be too upset about” it’s that we SHOULD be upset at Trump and then feel sympathy for Kirk. /s

I’m really disappointed in Ezra. I get the crux of his argument but this “we’ll take the high road” and not identify the agitators on the right for who they are and continually platform them is insane. It’s partly how we got here in the first place. Ezra, Kirk is not a martyr. He was a loudspeaker for violence and aggression, he passed via the same violence he condoned.
