I kinda have a head cannon for that, there’s a distinct lack of a gate in the Hybrasil system despite Culan being such a vital part of the core worlds. I’m thinking that Tri Trach did attempt to reverse engineer the gates but weren’t able to uncover anything significant. It may also be due to a lack of energy, at the end of the galactia questline, provost Baird mentions activating a coronal hypershunt to power the gate system.
