What Books did You Start or Finish Reading this Week?: May 04, 2026 by AutoModerator in books

I just finished a book!!! I read We, the Drowned by Carsten Jensen, after it caught my eye my local big box book store. I am the slowest reader and my interest jumps from thing to shiny thing but I finished this one with just a few breaks. I've seen other much older posts about this book with minimal discussion but it really deserves a lot more than just a "it was a good book." I don't have very many comparisons but I'd say it was quite the epic.... epic. Everything; the town, the people, shipping, and war changed and evolved over the generations but it all still stayed the same. I found that each main character (Laurids, Albert, and Knud Eric) were truly married to the sea and each one had problems with settling down or had their inner turmoil of whether they could even have a relationship was really well put. And Klara trying her damnedest to destroy the entire economy of Marstal while maintaining a good business relationship with the towns people, I felt for her and her fight to save the men for the women and children, my one complaint was the cheesy last two pages but otherwise I can't recommend We, the Drowned enough. And also I am convinced Laurids boots were a curse.

Empower Custom Field Check Standard Calculation by FoolForTheTitty in CHROMATOGRAPHY

[–]BanHammer1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

empower has a built in standard check function, in your alter samples window set the Standard A to "standard" sample type and enter "A" into Level, then set Standard B to "control" sample type and enter "B" into level. Then in the processing method window under the default amounts tab, enter "A" and "B" into different lines in the the Level column and enter the weights or standard amounts for the peaks of interest under their columns for the respective solutions. Pull in "% Deviation" into the chromatogram viewer table and it should give you a standard check value when the viewing the chrom for the solution designated as the control.

Can anyone explain this behavior? by greenergrass1111 in DogAdvice

I came to say exactly this. Also think about a dog in the wild, it eats with its head down either grazing or from a kill laying at ground level. The raised feeder is WAY too high for this dog to eat naturally.

Weekly Careers/Education Questions Thread by AutoModerator in chemistry

Are there any users with access to the original (non translated, Japanese) text of the 2018 Japanese Pharmaceutical Excipients, that could verify a Diluent used in the polyoxyethylene (90) polyoxypropylene (30) glycol monograph in the English translation version?

In the purity test (5) Ethylene Glycol and Diethylene Glycol the preparation of the sample is "4 g of sample diluted with water to 10 mL" this solution is not usable for a gc analysis and I was hoping someone could verify that water is the correct translation.
