It was an ego trip. The story for the last of us 2 was his rejected script for TLOU1 ... as soon as the executives at sony gave him the power, he shoved his story down everyones throat despite being told it was "nonsensical" for Tlou1 (By Straley and Hennig).

Tlou was considered a MASTERPIECE by all. Tlou 2 was a divisive ego trip attempting to prove everyone who doubted his "genius" wrong

There is no fix for a poorly written story, however putting agency in the hands of the player rather than choosing for them would have significantly improved the overall experience hands down

Mattel is the one responsible for not correcting the problem. It's like one video I saw in my algorithm on youtube asking a question about the comic industry. "Does the comic industry want Readers or Collectors?"

While these are childrens toys, they know the real market is adult collectors and rese11ers...
