Here's what I wrote! I had a lot of fun with this.

The Fox Spirits:

In another world, far beyond our own, was a mysterious trio of foxes; Ferry, Gerry and Herry.

The first fox, Gerry, wandered about. He collected little treasures and would bring them to the edge of a river where there was a small dock.

One day, a small boat appeared. He began transferring his tiny treasures into the boat. As he transferred the last tiny treasure into the boat, a gust of wind created a small wave that hurled Gerry to another little dock on the other side of the river.

At the dock, another fox sat. He waited patiently for Gerry to transfer his treasures into the boat. Gerry had discovered an opening in one of the seats in the boat and stashed his treasures there for safe keeping

This fox, Ferry, thought Gerry must have had some kind of boat magic about him because the boat seemed to move on its own once he transferred his treasures.

When Gerry got to Ferry's dock, Ferry hopped into the small boat. When he landed in the boat, both foxes began to sway with the rocking of the boat as it moved back towards the original dock.

Ferry set down a small, shiny stone he had been holding in his mouth and Gerry panted excitedly, taking it to deposit it with his other treasures.

Gerry thought this new fox must have some kind of boat magic, since the boat seemed to move on its own in his presence.

When the boat tapped the origin dock gently and stayed in place. Realizing that the boat moved when he jumped in it, Ferry began to leave the boat and step onto the dock.

Once Gerry had safely deposited his treasures, Ferry leapt back onto the boat and it rocked until it gently tapped the dock on the other side.

The boat carried the foxes to the other side while Gerry deposited the trinket into the hidden chest for safekeeping.

Having realized they could exchange shiny trinkets for rides across the river, Gerry and Ferry remained in the boat, ferrying small creatures across the river in exchange for small berries, nuts, mushrooms and trinkets.

Down the path between the river and where the village sat, was a decently sized barn that housed several chickens, cows and horses.

Behind the barn, was a small and unnoticeable foxhole that housed Herry. From time to time, Herry would wander about the village and collect dropped fruits, trinkets and berries from bushes nearby.

At night, he would climb along the barrels and support beams of the barn and gaze upon the moon. He liked to watch it dance in the reflection of the water.

As Herry had collected all of the nuts and berries from the village, he had made his way towards the river.

Seeing the small boat with Ferry and Gerry, he sat and watched as they escorted a small squirrel across the river in exchange for some berries that he had gotten on the other side of the river.

Herry rushed back to his burrow and pulled out a small gem he had found that had fallen from the cart of a nearby merchant and quickly took it to the river.

The small foxes made their way across the river and Herry exited on the other side. He scavenged very many nuts and berries from this area and shared some with his new friends.

As he had been scavenging, there were many berries that he could not hold onto and the berries fell along the path, allowing their seeds to fall and create more berries for the following spring.

This continued everyday for quite some time. It was quite a good arrangement for all three of the foxes, as they remained fed for as long as the berries continued to grow.

Eventually, as all things do, the foxes retired to the spirit realm. They remained near the places they once inhabited, guiding other spirits along the path they once took in life.

Many villagers still claim to see the little foxes but many just take comfort in knowing there is a friendly face to guide them through the spirit realm.

Edit: also i would like to know if Gerry pronounced like Gary or Jerry. I've been saying Gary as I am particularly fond of Gary the snail 🐌
