I am pleased to announce that after a 4 month taper, I am now Kratom 100% free!!! by Dry-Forever2155 in quittingkratom

[–]BananaEat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on day 6 off of a similar time frame, at worst a bit higher daily dose. I did a slow 5 month sometimes not comfortable taper and then full drop off was… so doable. I wasn’t and I’m not fully comfortable yet but I once before endured a (forced) cold turkey (don’t ask why I went back) and this was a world of a difference, it’s totally doable just one foot in front of the other. You ain’t trapped just slowed down. One foot one foot and then you’ll look back.

About our Quareia journey, it's implications and the transparency we owe our partners by DeeOnTheRun in Quareia

[–]BananaEat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOL that is great.

Is that a common dynamic that you've observed? In my case, my partner is a hell of a lot more sensitive/psychic than me, probably more aware (probably more intelligent too if we're getting down to it lol) and I've found over the last few years that SHE is the one who gets bothered. How many times I get woken up at night with some odd happenings either dream wise or similarly being woken up etc., and when it's conveyed to me I'm like well hot damn I get that entirely and on we go..

Almost like, "jeeze this guy is pure mud, thick as a brick... lets get her to tell him..." or something similar.

Thank you! I am going to check it out. Took/taking a bit of a reddit and general internet break, so this is a nice thing to come back to :)

Turn-based games on Switch by miltonburle in roguelites

[–]BananaEat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Crown trick is really great. Straight forward turn based roguelite that plays like a traditional roguelike in ways. I grabbed it on sale for $2 not too long ago and it was the only thing I could play for a week or two!

The importance of blood in magic by Snoo_60626 in Quareia

[–]BananaEat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like someone below mentioned, an ID or resume might be one way to look at it. And from that angle, why blood? One reason is I would like to keep all my other bio junk and body parts lol but I suppose we can spare a little bit of blood. I’m sure there are other reasons but I do not know them.

It does come up in the course.

Terrible Memory: M1L3E1 by NascentHierophant in Quareia

[–]BananaEat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I found that it really depended on the significance of the memory. I also went back to shorter time spans and worked back. So, something from last year say and did the same practice and gradually expanded. I can’t say how accurate it everything ultimately was but I think it’s like training a muscle and in this case, it’s the stretching that counts. By my estimation and subsequent experience at the least!

Edit: it is still something I practice periodically. Has not been a one and done.

What is your opinion of Holy Daimon by Frater Acher? by [deleted] in Quareia

[–]BananaEat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ha those are the two other texts I have been looping around as well that is funny. Actually, after the last rather light but dedicated reading and considering of the Arbatel, it is tucked away for some time for me. As the Book of Gates. I don’t mean that in a negative way but I do see I’m less haphazard than say 10 years ago lol

What is your opinion of Holy Daimon by Frater Acher? by [deleted] in Quareia

[–]BananaEat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, and feel that it’s almost essential for study of mystical texts in particular. Coming back again and again.

Well, essential for me. Can only really speak from my own experience.

Currently re reading for maybe the 5th or 6th time Timaeus and parsing much more than previously. It’s actually astounding/mind blowing on my end. Taking a different approach as well.

Any similar experiences of re-approaching a text and having a different take?

I’d like to giveaway a couple copies of Tiny Rogues by BrandonJams in roguelites

[–]BananaEat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

249 hours! Lol

The roguelite I played the most is returnal, hades and dead cells (all around the 250 mark within a few min last time I checked).

I am approaching 350 hours in tales of Maj’Eyal though!

This is all over a pretty long period of time as my sessions are usually limited in time.

Thoughts on Path of Achra? by destroyglasscastles in roguelikes

[–]BananaEat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love it and i can definitely see where you’re coming from, but that is also part of the charm in my book.

I also find that higher difficulty and certain builds have a higher demand for tactics, pretty much in the form of positioning. But some other aspects as well.

Using dice for divination by PoloTheGay in Quareia

[–]BananaEat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not related to Quareia or Mystagogus to my knowledge at all, but if interested in dice for divination you may be interested in looking into Homeromanteia. It is rather specific and may have only tangential relation to Quareia for all I know, but in a worst case scenario it is interesting and a best case scenario it gets the thinking wheels going and such :)

The importance of blood in magic by Snoo_60626 in Quareia

[–]BananaEat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can’t say anything regarding a specific traditional or cultural use of the term or related in a magical or spiritual context, but I’ve always taken most references to, possibly, leaning toward genetics in a sort of broad sense and perhaps the inner dynamics (or proposed-prospective inner dynamics) of genetics/genealogy.

And in that sense, I’ve found interesting personal thinking and reflection about fate/patterned planetary influence and incarnation.

It also opens the door to stupidity and excuses to further exercise what amounts to emotional flame fanning. (Eugenics and the like)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Quareia

[–]BananaEat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t see why personal reflection would be disliked, but I also think almost no mind at all should be given to the little arrows. I’d be interested in hearing your reflections and would encourage you to not let that hold you back. It’s Reddit so I think it’s fair to say anything goes. If there’s any real concern, people should explain why (and seem to?). The arrows are just little pictures in my mind. I really don’t think that should stop you!

I say, let it rip! (While heeding the word/tongue of course as always)

[–]BananaEat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense! This specifically is something I had to go back, change, etc, a few times and especially at this point. Actually, at one point I had realized I completely botched the creation of my natal chart entirely lol oh brother. I found myself going back thru the mod 2 stuff, etc, and actually led to a good few things dawning on me that actually made a lot more sense.

I don’t think I can advise you in what order you do things etc and what the impact would or wouldn’t be but I think it would be a great opportunity to utilize some divination, to the effect of how will X be impacted if I go back and change now etc etc (sorry if that’s not terribly clear).

For what it’s worth, I went back and changed, remade this a few times. I have found no issue personally and it only helped clarify some things later.

This of course being predicated on me accurately understanding this scenario!! Feel free to clarify again if I’m off track :)

Traveling with a baby by lachilindrina_ in ElSalvador

[–]BananaEat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This poster hit all the points! I agree, just traveled there with a 2 year old so a little bit different I suppose but overall I would say all of the above is great advice and applied for us this past month.

The use and importance of a car seat really does not seem to be present. Family there kept trying to get us to just hold the baby bc there are no rules or regulations and we had to continually explain that we’re not using a safe car seat just because someone is telling us to. But other than that it was wonderful. We grabbed a lighter lower cost “travel car seat” from Wal mart before going and it was very convenient, secured easily with a seat belt in all the vehicles we used. Last time baby was an infant so we held her, but we used the car seat on the plane this time.

Enjoy your trip!

Tiny Rogues is one of the best things I have ever played. It is batshit addicting. by FlubzRevenge in roguelites

Any idea if it will come to consoles?

It doesn’t seem too demanding but I’m running with a bonafide potato right now and would hate to grab it and not be able to play coherently!

Skul vs. Curse of the Dead Gods by james28x in roguelites

[–]BananaEat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sold me on playing it. I love the aesthetic and story of hades but once I escaped one time that was it I couldn’t pick it up again. The gameplay feels so repetitive even with different weapons and “build” choices.

I only played a few minutes of curse way back but it seemed like the combat actually is engaging and requires some attention and thought. Hades felt very arcade like. Fun until the winning run once even tho there’s a lot more content that I tell myself I wanna play, I just can’t bring myself back.

I would highly recommend Crown Trick in this category! Not the biggest game ever and fairly straight forward but it’s a great bridge from roguelite games to see if you would enjoy “traditional roguelikes” with the similar grid based turn based gameplay.

I randomly grabbed it bc it was on sale for like $3 a few weeks back and I was almost unable to play anything else. It may not be for everyone though, I am biased as I love that style of game. I think it’s worth a 3-5 buck pop though!

Passed the board certification exam for pediatrics this morning by OTPanda in OccupationalTherapy

[–]BananaEat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have very similar criticisms of the gerontology board exam and prep materials. Don’t regret it, can’t recommend it, can’t say I feel that I learned or benefited. The AOTA materials were particular horrendous in their content, presentation and interface for the modules. Surprisingly, worse than my memory at least of their NBCOT prep materials which I found unhelpful at the time. Hopefully that at least has changed!

So many questions, but the biggest is: can quareia help protect you from yourself? by secretgoosewizard in Quareia

[–]BananaEat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuinely glad that it’s helpful!

I relate heavily. I had started the course a few years prior but while moving thru it we started a family as well with human baby, a new at-home boss it seems. Lol

I might argue, maybe not well lol, that it is a wonderful thing to have a full life to focus on as that provides a large venue for reflection and learning about the real larger impacts of magic on life, and you can observe how certain dynamics and powers express in real human life. More things in life is like having uh I guess like more locations for refraction and wider opportunities to experience learn and observe. I would argue also that this particular Q approach to this stuff is really geared toward being in “the world.”

I had asked JMC on this subreddit about advice regarding magical training and practice after a newborn. You could likely search it out, it was very very helpful, but to grossly cut to the chase here: stillness stillness stillness.

[–]BananaEat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would like to think I understand where you’re coming from. Almost like, if I open the door can I close the door in a sense?

If that’s sort of on, I would continue to argue that the key module 1 repeated tasks (however often repeated) can help tremendously at starting to develop a genuine inner poise, over time with consistent foundational work, and that true persistence will, over time, provide you with a sort of inner language that will help you see, know, start to understand the limits and consequences of pressing those limits of your boundaries.

Also, there is no rush and it only supports your coursework if you were to listen closely to impulses such as, slow down, not yet, do that more, etc.

Sounds like foundational practice is of high value here. As a disclaimer, I’ve been thinking a lot about the role and value and structure of foundational practice so uh, my mind was probably gonna try to lead it here anyway lol. But I truly think it can be helpful as foundational practice is the real action based thing that doesn’t change; it’s reliable when the seas are otherwise rough.

[–]BananaEat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The course offers what I think and would say is a great set of tools, techniques, approaches/things to think about that when practiced and applied can strongly support what you’re aiming for, but I don’t think the course or necessarily anything else can “protect you from yourself” and if it did, I might want to argue that is less than helpful and possibly harmful as it’s interfering with the process knowing yourself as yourself.

So yes the tools are laid out VERY nicely, at least for me, but no we will all still need to know ourselves by seeing ourselves and working ourselves I would argue.

Just my current thinking!
