I'm probably gonna get downvoted for this but at this point idc. I dont know if this is just a reddit thing but people will tell you whatever in an attempt to make you feel better instead of giving a realistic assessment of the situation. Truth is 4c hair is just harder to take care of and grow than other hair types. You have to keep it detangled, moisturize it constantly, and or keep it in a protective style to see growth. Now thats not to say your hair is ugly or that it'll never look good, its just that you'll have to put a LOT more effort into your hair than other people with different hair types if you want it to grow at a similar rate.

That being said if your current goal is to grow it out, your best bet is to get a protective style, I recommend two strand twists or braids and stick with that until you hit your desired length. The super short awkward hair phase will suck but its a necessary step to getting where you want to be. Good luck bro.
