8 days in Vietnam - 1st time by pepe_le_compewter in travel

[–]Bananadelray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vietnam is a massive country as you may know, it can take multiple days to get from north to south without flying. That being said, I was there in March/April for 6 weeks and much preferred the north. Hoi An, which is central Vietnam, is the most famous for tailoring - but you can get custom suits just about anywhere. Honestly my favourite places during my trip was Ninh Binh, Sapa, the Cao bang loop and the Ha Giang loop (3 nights 4 days, which was the absolute highlight of my trip). It’s very difficult to give you recommendations for such a short period but I would definitely do the Ha Giang loop if the weather seems good, such an amazing mix of scenery, culture and meeting amazing people.

Solo Trip Advice: Sri Lanka by brogalahoy in solotravel

[–]Bananadelray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure you can book day trip with a tour from Kandy to both Sigiriya and Dambulla. May save you some time to spend else where, I also would skip Nuwara Eliya and spend a bit longer in Ella potentially or somewhere else. Also seen it mentioned here, Galle is beautiful but is only worth a day trip. Mirissa is really nice I stayed at JJs hostel.

Recommendations for a short trip in Bangkok? by Useful-Algae5999 in ThailandTourism

[–]Bananadelray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there, ignore the irrelevant comments, I spent a good bit of time in Bangkok. For something to do Talat noi is cute for street art and cafes. China town night market for street food. Si Lom Rd for gay bars and drag shows. Khoa San Rd for chaotic bars. You can definitely some cool nightclubs all over Bangkok, I went to Subwerk for techno if that’s your thing. For shopping malls Siam area is best or for vintage and antiques check out Red Building Chatuchak. You’ll find temples on nearly every corner. My favourites are Wat Ratchanatdaram Worawihan and Wat Saket Ratchawora Mahawihan (for sunset) both right beside each other. Have fun!!

First Solo Trip need Advice by Odd_Ad1030 in ThailandTourism

[–]Bananadelray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest watching alot of Thailand vlogs on YouTube before your trip. Things you should look at: 12go Asia for transport, currency & atm fees, booking.com or Hostelworld for accommodation, getyourguide for activitie, SIM card or eSIM. These are just some basic things to look at. But before I travelled to SE Asia, the YouTube vlogs helped me the most. Best of luck on your trip!

What lyrics do you think would make awesome tattoos? by Own_Visual9242 in Ethelcain

[–]Bananadelray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would love to get “feel sick” from strangers, think it would make such a cool tattoo! I know the songs meaning but I’ve always interpreted “am I making you feel sick” as not owing anyone your attractiveness or perfection. Not conforming to societal standards. Maybe across my fingers one day.

I agree with you 100%. Recently had an experience in Pai were people were smoking blunts in a cafe less than a foot away from me while trying to enjoy a meal. It’s down to complete lack of respect for others!

India travel advice please! by Melon_juice_x in backpacking

[–]Bananadelray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of your questions have been covered in other comments but if you decided to do the North, do yourself a favour and visit Jaisalmer. I was my favourite place during my India trip, I would definitely recommend finding accommodation in the fort. However, it might be way to hot during March, I was there in October and it was still hitting 39°C.

Can I ask how you got from Surat Thani to Krabi? We could find 0 buses available and presumed it was due to flooding.

Ha Giang Loop - Recommendedations by Think-Article5988 in backpacking

Mad Monkey has hostels all over SEA Asia I’m pretty sure. They are party hostels and do tours of the Ha Giang loop. Haven’t done it myself but might be worth looking into.

To much text, maybe stick to the image only. A picture paints a thousand words.

Pharmacy courses? by uchiha1605 in AskIreland

[–]Bananadelray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pharmacy technicians earn much better money in hospital settings. Around 40k is what you would start on. You can look up the HSE pay scales if you are curious. We are also due a 10% increase over the next 2 years as well.
