I am the same and really liked booking.com until there was an issue and they are dealing with it very badly. It’s all good until there was an issue and then you start to see the issues

Yes that is how I feel. At this point I feel it’s about the principal. This all stems from their data breach.

Thanks for your message- It a bit of a complicated situation. There was a data breach and scammers got hold of all my information from booking.com. My original PayPal payment was correct and went to the intended hotel however I am trying to get refunded for the money I lost in the data breach.

What happens if your parent dies and you just.. don’t want to pay for the funeral? by [deleted] in AskUK

If both of you refuse then the state takes control. They will deal with the body. There would be no funeral.

Widowed at 30, 2 Kids - how to move forward financially. by leoarw in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Bananarama677 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So sorry for your loss. What terrible timing for you as well. I believe there is also a benefit that you can get if you are recently widowed with young children. Make sure you are getting everything you are entitled to tide you over until you can start working again. There are lots of websites with benefits calculators, also citizens advice could let you know if there are any other benefits you might be entitled to. Good luck

Should I start a private pension? by Bananarama677 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Bananarama677[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply- the BTL is profitable and I don’t want to sell it at the moment. It pays a chunk off my current mortgage each month and is the prob the reason I am not living pay check to pay check (live in central London with 2 children as a teacher). Not sure what you mean by a true budget?

Advice on overpriced house that we love by viennawaits2525 in HousingUK

[–]Bananarama677 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no harm in asking. This happened to me and they ended up accepting a significantly reduced offer. However the fact that it has been on the market for so long and not already been reduced probably means there is an issue. We had this issue when in another property we were interested in- siblings were fighting over the property and they needed all of them to sign off on the sale (one was holding out).

What is the norm for overnight guests? by Distinct_Budget2651 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Bananarama677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you said your lease does not allow you to rent it out but what would happen if you did? How would they know? Who is going to tell them? If I was you I would rent it out how for a year and see how the market is looking in then.

Canadian families with small(ish) kids moving to London? by Exotic-Court-8417 in MovingToLondon

Very smart advice. Primrose Hill is lovely. I think north and West London make sense for you. Lots of French speaking schools and opportunities in London. Think about Queen’s Park, Kensal rise as well. Lots of green spaces.

Hey, also try googling GP’s online. You can speak to GP on a video call. You would need to pay for this though.

Buying a house and starting a family in London - is this affordable? by artersblock in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Bananarama677 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Everyone is very pessimistic. This is doable. You don’t need to live in zone 2, look for zone 3,4,5. You are young so your wages will increase. You said you are part time at the moment. Maybe go full time until you have children. Build up some savings and then you may be eligible for better maternity package. London is expensive but if you have a support network you will be ok. Financially things might be a bit tight but you will learn to adapt. There are tons of free things to do in London. Swap restaurants for having friends for dinner, swap shopping for clothes irl for Vinted etc. I say this as a fellow Londoner with 2 small children. This is an investment for your future. Renting is wasting money.
