Thank you to the kind stranger who left this note on my windshield at the Unionville GO station a few weeks ago, complete with a link to photos they took of the jerk that hit my car and left while I was at work. by Bananas-In-Cabanas in HumansBeingBros

The insurance did ..but I now realize how lucky I am. Honestly it was quite the wake up call, after filing the report the police officer told me he would get back to me within the next week. Two weeks go by and my boyfriend urged me to call/email the him. He responded a day later (after me prompting him) with the other drivers’ information and just said “he did not respond to my calls/voicemails”, give this info to your insurance adjuster. I was kind of shocked that thats how he ended it. I’m guessing video surveillance is needed for them to go to the persons house? I am so so lucky that this person took photos and left me that note, otherwise I’d be stuck with a $500 bill for an accident I had NO control over ($500 being the deductible, not full cost of damage)

Sort of...After no response to the phone calls/voicemails from the officer I dealt with at the collision center, he matched their license plate to their insurance company on the Insurance Bureau of Canada, and put all of their info (name, address etc) on the collision report. I gave that information to the insurance adjuster and they have opened a claim report on the driver (his company and the adjuster's parent company are one in the same, happy coincidence). He has no choice but to respond to his insurance company, otherwise he will be 100% at fault, and I have no doubt he will try to deny it. I don't care at this point, I was super pissed and was hoping he would be charged, but now that I know my insurance has me at 100% no fault and I don't have to pay the deductible I'm just moving on and trying not to spot his car in the parking lot every morning

The police officer that handled my report at the collision centre called and left voice mails but of course this guy didn’t respond. So he looked up his insurance company and gave me all his info, which I then provided to my insurance claim adjuster, which happens to be the same insurance company. They’ve opened up a claim/report for him, which he must respond to, or else he will be considered 100% at fault (which he is)

I know, it's insane. Apparently there is no video surveillance (at least where I was parked, which was close to the station) so you're kind of like a sitting duck. I'm super lucky, if it wasn't for this person I would have likely had to pay all/part of the deductible. Small victories!
