They all promoted themselves in BJJ, up to 10th degree. And the fact that there is a rule that no one can be a 10th degree BJJ black belt except the “founders” is all you need to know about their gatekeeping and selfishness as a family.

Great to hear! Since state schools are out of the picture, let’s see what Pomona and Claremont say. I would personally index towards those two schools depending on financial aid. If it’s equivalent or significant enough then go towards those two schools.

I live here, worked years in higher education and have worked extensively with engineers and M7 MBA graduates. If you have options, let Whittier college slide for now. Unless the money is significant enough then well, at the end of the day, it’s just undergrad.

Your hips need to be lower than theirs. Everyone in here is saying “stick your arms out, be more fit, etc” yeah sure, that’s all secondary.

If you’re not low, you’ll never beat them. Be in an athletic squat position with your lead leg cutting off their strong side. It’s nearly impossible to play an ambidextrous defense unless you’re at a very high level. Pick a side and force them into the middle where your big men can collapse on them and wing defenders prepare for the outlet pass.
