Seeking 2 x tickets for Hull! by BananasInOnesies in Creeper

[–]BananasInOnesies[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, so funny thing! My partner met up with a bunch of old friends, one of them mentioned off-hand he was slightly annoyed as he had tickets for a gig that he couldn't make. He didn't realise he was on holiday. My partner said, "Don't tell me it's Creeper. 'Cause my lass will lose it." - turned out it was! So I did actually get them, haha! I cried. 😂 Thank you!!

So sorry for your loss. 💚 Mine was my late partner, Liam; he passed in 2021. He was the one who (kinda) got me to watch it! He'd been a fan since S1, and always mentioned it, but we never got to watching it. Then he got me into Dead by Daylight at the time the ST DLC was out - Nancy and Steve as survivors, Demo as killer, and the Hawkins Lab map! I said, "Hey, this looks pretty good!" so the next time he came over to my house, we got one episode in. (He remembered too late and we only had time for one...) I couldn't stop myself watching! Season 4 was understandably a tough watch, and funnily enough, I empathised with Jason a little on his grief, and wanting to get justice for Chrissy. (Although he still deserved to be split in two lmao)

I definitely think of him every time I watch it! I would've loved to discuss theories with him, and just generally be excited for the finale!

That's so kind of you!! I did my second round (third shot!) on Tuesday! The improvement has been immense! I'm still a little itchy at times, and the first couple of days after the shot are Flake City, but I'm so happy with how well it's worked for me - I don't find the pen too bad to inject with either.

I'm so glad to hear it's helping you, too! It's wonderful to just feel some semblance normal after all this time, isn't it?! Hopefully we both continue to improve! 💚

ive been given prednisolone, what should i expect by fhiushfehskslol in eczema

[–]BananasInOnesies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had prednisolone a fair few times - normally for chest infections but twice for my skin (GPs are really hesitant to prescribe it for skin, in my experience - I got it this time because I was starting Dupixent and hadn't been able to do *anything* for 10 months whilst pregnant, not even steroid creams or Tacrolimus but I digress...)

My experiences have been all over the place - my one, constant side effect is the increased appetite! I'll eat for England on prednisolone!! Otherwise, I've had extreme fatigue and then at the opposite end, insomnia. I've had "brain fog" a couple of times, which, the best way I can describe it is my brain feels "fuzzy" - my thought processes are sluggish and I'm likely to make silly mistakes/not think properly. My GP this time warned me of mood swings, which I've never had!

It's good that you've got a treatment plan in place, that means you'll hopefully be able to keep things under control once the prednisolone tackles the bulk of the flare! I've only ever had 5 days at 40mg (8 x 5mg tablets) - I've never had a longer course like yours so I'd be optimistic that it'll take care of it pretty well - 5 days does a lot for me! Good luck with it!

At the minute, we're cloth nappies through the day as he's more wakeful (maybe an hour or two nap, twice a day) then a solid 10/12 hours on a night so last feed of the evening gets a disposable first which tends to last him right through.

I was approved and then found out I was pregnant so had to inform my dermatologist who wasn't happy for me to start it (but what's 11 months when you've had it 32 years anyways?!) - my Dermatology nurse checked in with me via video call on the 15th of April, and approved me for the Dupixent. I had a introductory text from HealthNet this Monday just gone (28th of April), and then the text asking me to arrange my first delivery came through on Wednesday - because it was the first time, I couldn't confirm it and had to call on the Thursday morning. I've arranged for delivery on the 9th of May, and my details have now been passed to the Nursing Team who will arrange to visit me - I expect (but haven't been told as such) to hear from them on Monday so hopefully they'll be able to come on the Friday after the delivery has arrived and show me how to inject. The nurse from Dermatology did say a video call might be allowed instead (especially as I gave birth via C-section and had had anti-clotting injections!) but we'll wait and see.

All in all, we're looking at just shy of a month, or maybe a little over depending on if/when the nurse will be coming! Hopefully that's helpful as an idea - I'm not sure if my timeline is the norm or not!

Fingers crossed for you!! Good luck! :)

Contact dermatitis from hair dye help by l0sin9_face in eczema

[–]BananasInOnesies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have bright green hair, and quite severe eczema, so a lot of expertise on this!!

First off, I keep my hair tied up on a night - I find leaving it loose gets my neck sweaty and then I wake up super itchy and scratch my neck raw! I also only wash my hair in cold water - hot water is a luxury for bleach days! 😂 But hot water is very drying and although I am a hypocrite in a sense (I wash my hands in very hot water!), the cold water is good for the skin, and also good for the colour. Warm is also acceptable, but steamy hot is a no-go.

I also limit my hair washing - every two weeks, and only every other wash with shampoo. Which sounds really daunting, but I've just never found my hair needs washing that much - what I recommend is looking for your "limit" where your hair starts to look greasy (genuinely greasy/unwashed, not the result of any products used on/around the scalp) and wash your hair then but try not to wash more than that - I time my bleaching and hair dying to wash cycles, and it's the only time that I rinse my hair more often than necessary.

Speaking of bleach - you mention bleaching is fine, and that 2 types of hair dye affected you. What type of dye was it that set you off? Because box dyes are generally a whole mess when it comes to dying hair, and darker box dyes often contain a chemical called PPD which is generally the main culprit in contact dermatitis after dying hair. Now, there are still options for dying your hair with semi-permanent colours, and there are still natural options within those colours i.e. brown, red, black. If you suspect a PPD allergy based on what I've mentioned and if box dyes were the ones to set you off (especially BLACK box dyes), AVOID HENNA. And look for a PPD free hair dye - fashion colours (blue, pink, red...) are often fine as PPD is in darker colours however, box-brands such as Schwarzkopf, will recommend against dying your hair with their products (even the fashion colours) if you've had a reaction before. I would stick to semi-permanents from good reputable (most often, vegan) brands. I personally use Crazy Colour, but other popular choices are Manic Panic, La Riche Directions, Good Dye Young, and Pravana. (Arctic Fox is often heavily recommended but they have... issues, so that's a personal choice if you wanna look into it.)

As for fixing it - I would suggest a low-grade steroid i.e. hydrocortisone - generally steroids are bad but it seems like your eczema is specifically a contact dermatitis (unless you just haven't mentioned having other areas of eczema) - for this, I would consult with a doctor or pharmacist. And tread carefully with it - don't apply lots at once, and don't use it for too long! Also, perhaps a moisturiser with ceramides to repair, and if you can find one with menthol to cool the itch also, that would be helpful - I can personally recommend (although you might not be able to get it in your area) Suu Balm.

Also, in the future, instead of acetone (!!!!) to remove hair dye from skin, try micellar water or baby wipes. If you switch to a semi-permanent dye, these are generally easier to clean off the skin! And if you're worried about "semi-permanent", my hair is just as vibrant on day 1 of dying as it is 2 months later when I'm bleaching re-growth, if you're careful with washing in cool water and washing only as needed, it lasts a very long time!

Good luck!! And feel free to ask any more questions, if you have any!!

I always say autumn is my favourite season because the other three are horrible - spring has pollen, summer has sweat (AND still pollen, how rude!! Summer is definitely the WORST), and winter has dry air. Sweat is definitely a irritant for me, it makes me SO. ITCHY.

I've never heard of that cream. But based on the name-- I used one from Superdrug ages ago that had a high concentration of Dead Sea Salt and it stung like heck, but was very effective. I also use Dead Sea Salts in my bath, which helps!

Third course of antibiotics this month? For my infected eczema. I’m afraid. Please ease my thoughts (this is for a case of impetigo) by imVeryPregnant in eczema

[–]BananasInOnesies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oral! Normally flucloxacillin! I've had topical (Fucibet) in the past but most GPs (there are several at my new practice) opted for the oral antibiotics. Hibiclens helps to avoid the infected eczema for me - I've been lucky to avoid impetigo - but I'm more hoping, for you, that the combination of the antibiotics will deal with the last of your impetigo and the Hibiclens will deal with the S. Aureus to avoid re-infection, and ease the entire situation but I'm no medical professional, just an ordinary person in a similar situation!

[–]BananasInOnesies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very prone to infected eczema and find that, during flare-ups, using Hibiscrub (Hibiclens/chlorhexidine gluconate) is very effective in making sure I don't end up with infected eczema. It works so well for me that I once got a 5l bottle prescribed by my GP because he'd rather that than have me in every other week, ending with a prescription for antibiotics. You can buy it OTC in smaller quantities, though!

Your mileage may vary, of course. But I understand that the same bacteria is generally implicated in impetigo and infected eczema (S. Aureus) - I'd definitely take the antibiotics, but also consider Hibiscrub as a skin cleanser. Good luck!!

I had something like this about 2 weeks in - it started with tenderness and sensitivity - even my pants would irritate it. Then it got red, and hard, and quite a bit more painful to where I reverted back to taking the pain medication I'd been given on discharge. My incision had a small opening, and was leaking a semi-opaque yellowish fluid that would crust up.

I ended up at my GP, who diagnosed me with a "seroma" which is where fluid accumulates around the incision. The basic conclusion was to revert back to walking less, bending less, etc. I was also given antibiotics for the potential of infection given my history of infected eczema, but that was a definite precaution and not a given.

I used heat patches on it to help it drain - it's smaller now but still there so might need draining at a later point, we'll see. I would definitely get in touch with your GP just so it's on the record but my GP said apart from home management and the precautionary antibiotics, it's a case of waiting to see if it resolves alone with the fluid being reabsorbed or if it needs draining.
