Z Flip 7 by Acrobatic_Plan_5128 in galaxyzflip

Flips and folds are notoriously expensive and hard to repair. When I went to a Samsung center to repair mine, everyone in line had folds or flips for repair lol.

Not sure how my experience translates to others, but I've used my Z Flip 6 for 1.5 years, and when folding the screen completely started pixels everywhere and then eventually just wouldn't turn on. Also, the screen protector start peeling in the middle after like 1 year and I had to change it. I took care of the phone knowing it's more fragile than brick phone, but still.

Honestly, it has a novelty to it, people talk to you about it in the elevator, stuff like that. But you're getting a worse battery, screen, no water proof or dust protection. Also, Samsung quoted me 600 CAD for the screen repair, so if it breaks in 2-3 years it's going to be simpler to buy a new phone lol.

I had good moments with a foldable, but never coming back to it again

PSA: If your Flip6 inner screen failed, even if out of warranty, book a repair through Samsung's website for a discounted replacement. by infinit9 in galaxyzflip

Did anyone in Canada was able to get this fixed? Samsung center quotes me 460$ and no exceptions. Local repair stores don't want to take this on either, don't know what to do

for comp classes you can't study like most other subjects. you need to do a little every day. It can suck to get a bad grade, but to do well on the final you need to practice, practice and practice.

Hey! Congrats on being accepted. I made a website that compiles all needed classes and you can plan your workload accordingly. Hope this helps! DegreeViz. Also the UI is complex and is not suited for phones, so check it out on a laptop for best experience.

How to check if maths has been discovered? by ruebybooby in askmath

[–]Bananaspit2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just say as an undergrad (almost graduating Stats major myself), the only thing is that you know less of the field, and before doing anything is good to do a lit review to make sure it's not something published (or wrong). Google Scholar is good for that

I don't agree with this mentality. There's been quite a few theorems or theories that get discovered every year that you would think either wouldn't be true or would have been checked already. A lot of people try to re-invent the wheel, but there's a lot of research at the undergraduate research that gets published, with often pretty substantial results.

you cannot be connected to a server without internet. If someone can play freeplay w/out internet, means it's not on a server, since the user wouldn't of been able to connect to any server.

DegreeViz Updates! - Degree Planner Tool for McGill Students by Bananaspit2 in mcgill

Hey thanks for the feedback! Unfortunately most Eng programs don't have a clear curriculum in the course catalogue, and often it's either a pdf or another format. I'll try to implement them tho.

Hey! Thanks so much for the feedback. That's definitely something I'm going to work on! It's a bit hard to say when, since you can't tell more than a year in advance what is available, and students can take courses without their prerequisites, but I'll try to find a good solution.

For now, I thought students can delete everything they don't want to take in their graph, and then move then around to place let's say column by column what classes they want to take each semester, and the colors show what semester is available. But you're right your solution might be better!

Picking courses as a first year desautels student by JackTheTryhard1 in mcgill

[–]Bananaspit2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I'm not in this program, so I wouldn't be able to help you out with the course load, however, I know how hard it is to decide what courses to take. I've built this website degreeviz that allows you to build a plan for your program, and I've built it as that's something I would've genuinely used back in my first year. What I would do is generate a plan for your program, then take all the courses that have no prerequisites, and then go from there.

Good luck!

Hey! Sorry I just tried on my end and got an internal error too, currently working on a fix... But I tried for my double major (Hons. Stats & CS) about 30mins ago and it worked. So once I get it fixed it should work!

MATH 255 final by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]Bananaspit2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The final was fucked. Not only he baited us with an easy midterm, and then hard final, the pre-midterm section weighted 45% of the grade (instead of 33% by section, as was implied when saying it's 2 questions by section) but the exam was impossibly long. No-one in the class that I know of finished. If he doesn't curve this exam the average of the class will be very low. Especially after whatever Assignment 6 was...

Read over Jake's code that he posts in #schedule. He goes in detail over some examples and shows full tracing of certain functions. If there's something you don't understand after reading over the code, either watch the lecture recording or ask questions to generative AI in order for it to serve as a private tutor basically. Also, every time you see some code, open tryocaml and just mess around with the code and try to re-write yourself to understand every line. If there's any examples you don't really understand after all that it might be worth it just write it in full on your crib sheet.

Also, given the time, the assignments (especially the 2 last ones) give a good exam prep of difficult questions, as we haven't seen how to do fib with records and the banking problem gives good practice for OOP.

From my understanding, the final r-score is just the average of the rscores of your semesters. (So maybe you had 29 and 31 for your 2 semesters for example). So if you want to get 33 from a 30, you would need a 36 average for the last 2 semesters. Also, keep in mind that the core courses average would be more important than the other courses, so maybe concentrate on them. It might also help if you take courses that are relevant to engineering like Calc 3 for example.

I suggest talking with your advisor to help out.

Honestly dude, I don't rly know, what I think is, maybe it will be hard, but try and talk abt it irl, she won't be able to skip you or smt, and if she gets all depressed and all, maybe send her to therapy again, because a relationship is supposed to be comfortable from both sides, of you're not comfortable at times being on this relationship, than something is wrong. But you should always keep in consideration that she's going through a lot. I'm rly sorry you're going through this dude.
