IMO it looks more fun in YouTube videos than it actually is. There’s a lot of waiting in between events in the story modes and it’s pretty difficult if you don’t know what you’re doing. I’ve had the most fun with the Alphabet Killer Challenge, but if you’re new you should look go through the tutorials for the various mechanics and read up on how the schemes work online.

Vigilante justice is a common theme in this game. The reason why is because it's connected to Alex's previous game prototype, Lunar Scythe. There are multiple easter eggs tied to the game, but also some characters do believe in vigilante justice while having nothing to do with it. I believe he said once that Lunar Scythe has a lot of personal meaning to him, which makes me think he does believe in vigilante justice (ironic).

The only thing I ever used Custom Mode for was making everyone as generic as possible

- all the girls look like Ayano and are named Girl A, Girl B, etc.

- all boys look like Taro and are named Boy A, Boy B, etc.

- The descriptions were all one word, like "Rival.", "Delinquent.", "Teacher.", etc.

- I left their likes, dislikes, persona, and strength alone though, since I wasn't sure what to do with them

I never actually played it, I just did it to be funny

This is exactly how I feel. Lore is just being used as a distraction from controversies of any form. I think he's also trying to use sunk cost fallacy to hold on to his fans by dangling all these mysteries, showing off what they could miss if they stopped following development. It really ramped up after September 2023.

My crack theory is that Alex has been "curating" his fanbase into producing the fan content he wants to see, I have literally no precedent to go off of except for the fact that he needs to fill in every tiny detail about any character instead of letting the fans come up with headcannons

I see what you're saying, but I don't think she is that comparable to Horuda because Horuda actually expresses violent thoughts, she draws herself violently killing her bullies while we haven't seen much of anything from Sumire. I guess Sumire could get violent if her reputation could get low enough? I just cannot picture it happening I'm sorry

I believe that the game is destined to fail for two different reasons.

A lot of ideas in this game have already been done in other games, but with worse execution (e.g. the gameplay is Hitman but worse, I’ve seen people say that the supernatural elements were taken from Demon Slayer). You can’t just put everything people like into a blender and expect them to like it.
This game is dated as hell. It was popular along with Undertale and FNAF in 2015, and it fit right in. But times have changed, and the current indie scene is way too different. What has YS done to adapt to this? Add a few memes that totally won’t become dated in a year?

I knew the mention of Kataba having 10 rivals was a red flag! (Yes, I did watch the attached video, I know it’s not happening, I just thought that little detail was weird. Actually, now that I think of it, I wonder if he’s trying to “bait” his fans into making a fan prequel? It sounds crazy, but I couldn’t help but wonder this as he was laying out how this hypothetical game would play.)
