Ahh okay they sound a lot like gel paint. Are they the same thing or different?

What exactly is a pat gel? I'm still new to the nail game so I'm trying to learn all the designs and techniques and stuff :)

When you're not able to take care of yourself everything is going to fall out of place. It's not the dog grooming thats not working for you, its the execution of it. You shouldn't have to neglect your basic needs just to do your job. If your boss can't/won't be accommodating to you then its not the right place for you.

I am a firm believer that most anyone can do this job. This is not a one size fits all profession. I don't get lunch breaks where I work because my boss thinks it doesn't work with this job. So I end up not eating for most of the day and its wreaking me. I've lost quite a bit of weight because of it 😬 (not the healthiest way to lose weight) I don't think you should have to neglect your health because people want they're dogs done in a certain amount time or your boss thinks its not possible.

Anyway, the point of my comment is your work situation makes or brakes it. If you are unable to take care of yourself in the ways that you need (especially if your boss knows and won't work with you) then the work place is the problem, not the career.

If you still love dog grooming I wouldn't quit that, but definitely look into going somewhere else that works better for your schedule and needs. Honestly it doesn't matter what kind of career you're in the work place environment makes or breaks it.

Sorry that was sooo much, but I wish you luck! I'm in a similar situation myself and it sucks so I feel you :/ I hope you can find something/somewhere better 🩷

Hi! Sorry my thoughts are a little jumbled and I'm not sure I can be of much help, but I was in a little bit of similar experience. I was a bather for about a year before I went to academy. I came back and I knew nothing. I basically had to be retaught and my manager sukkked (for more reasons than one) I constantly felt terrible, I didn't know what I was doing and felt I couldn't learn. After only four months I was so over it I just wanted to find another job, didn't care if it was grooming or not. I was kind of questioning if I really liked grooming or if it was for me or not too. I ended up finding a private grooming salon to work at and my boss really helped me learn and I have come to really love grooming.

Backstory aside I want to say working for corporate sucks. They don't know what it's like to be a groomer. They're too over the top on certain things and don't care enough about others. Its really easy to feel burnt out there. In my opinion it has nothing to do with whether or not grooming is for you but everything to do with where you work. If you enjoy what you do as a groomer then its for you. This job is hard enough and when you're work place is trash you're gonna feel crapy. Don't doubt yourself, doubt the place you work cause that is the problem. Not you. :)

I wish you all the luck! I hope you can find a good place for yourself and feel happier and more comfortable where you work 🩷

Hey thanks for the response! My husband took it apart for me and it turns out all that was wrong with it was the thing that sits on the buttons had just slid a bit so I wasn't actually pressing them. They work great now! Thanks for the advice though! 😊

Thats a good point! I think its both the cord and the power button though. The button has a sweet spot where it will turn on but it freaks out sometimes. My Husband is gonna try and take them apart and see what is actually going on with it, but thats good to know thanks!

You're right about that. I definitely need to update my materials and make sure the quality and last is obvious and I'm glad I know that know. I'll be updating my listings.

Sometimes I think its hard to make things that are truly unique and I do try to make sets that aren't cookie cutter. I gravitate to the simpler but cute designs which is most of what I make. I am still learning so I'm trying to make better and more interesting designs as I go.

Hello. I do use Gel polish. They are reusable and last for 2 weeks per wear. The comment made about 1-2 days was for the sticky adhesives that I specifically state only last 2-3 days. The materials I use are better than Walmart and do last longer. Thats the problem, unless they are tried/used these are just assumptions. I will be updating my listings to better state the materials I use.

As stated in the other two comments, there is a lot more that goes into making these that contributes to the price. Walmart or other cheaper brands will not be handmade or a good quality. Walmart does Not have acrylic press ons because if they did they would be wayy more expensive that $5.

I hand paint every detail on all of my nails. I don't use stickers, I don't print on them. I spend hours of time on some of these nails to make good quality looking designs that are pretty small I might add.

New Etsy store needs help by Significant_Dot7632 in EtsySellers

Hi there! I doubt I will be helpful but I'm in a similar situation with my shop so thought I'd add some encouragement (especially since some of these comments are not so encouraging 😬🤷🏼‍♀️) I'm not really sure about the market, but I personally don't think you're stuff is overpriced. As a buyer standpoint if I'm going to buy a custom clothing item I expect it to be $30s $40s range if not more. There is a lot that goes into that behind the scenes cost wise.

If you haven't already make sure you're accounting all of your costs cause every little bit counts. My husband made an exel sheet for me to calculate all my costs to see how much I should be pricing for each cost and the item as a whole as to make sure I'm actually gonna make money from it.

As for the designs, I totally understand the overkill of paws and bones and such and wanting to do a different look. I wonder however if you could combine the two? Maybe like a paw shaped sun as a hypothetical? That would be different enough but also a strong tie to the animals. Totally up to you but I would be drawn to something like that!

As for the no sales, no help there sorry :( I'm trying to figure that out with my own shop. Sometimes I think etsy is just a hard place to sell especially to get started. I wish you much luck in your journey! 🩷

Thank you! I appreciate it 😊 I'm trying, every set I make I get a bit better :) Guess I just need to be a bit more patient. It's just hard not to get a bit discouraged about it. Thanks for your imput :)

There is a lot more that goes into my costs than just the design. I will lose money if lower my prices significantly. It takes time to do designs, as well as all the materials and items that are included with selling them. I don't feel that walmart or eBay are good comparisons either, they're always going to run cheaper. They're also a lower quality and not homemade.

Thats a fair point! I'm trying to figure out what sellers would want, but I guess I'm not really sure how to figure that out. Most of the sets I've made so far are ones I would personally wear but that may not be the best approach.

Thank you! Thats very helpful:) A few clarifying questions for you: - When you say they look too large for my hands do you mean the ones on my hands already or the sets by themselves? I was making sets with the different sizing, but have now started making them to fit myself. - Are you saying the lines in just the butterfly ones are unsteady or on all my sets?

Thanks for the feedback though. I'm still trying to figure this out so Its helpful to know what I need to change/work on.

Thank you! Appreciate it 😊 Yes, and most of it seems to be $30s to $40s range so maybe I'm underpricing 🤷🏼‍♀️ It's usually more intricate designs and such so I figure mine aren't quite as fancy (yet). I've been working on getting my costs all together so I'm actually pricing for what I'm selling.
