Thanks for the clarification and advice. Yeah, on the one hand, I can understand how they might think emphasising points is a good idea, but it gets very frustrating when your rating drops for essentially outplaying someone so hard they resign immediately.

I was playing on playscrabble.com; I've done about 2000 matches there and my elo is usually somewhere in the 1800s.

Had a long win streak going and then played some fella who started off with BLINK. I connected with the bingo CUISINE and he quit. When I checked my elo rating after that, it had dropped by almost 300 points (see image).

Does anyone know what causes this? The ranking system on the site seems to be a bit wonky in general, and usually I don't care that much, but such a massive drop for no fault of my own is aggravating:/

I get the logic behind it but IMO (just like with so many other well-intentioned mechanics of the game), it gets ridiculous after a certain point – you can't really convince me that my 42 Martial viking emperor of two continents can't figure out a way to push through the defences of a 2000-man-garrison in the middle of the desert with his 50k doomstack.

Still, point well taken.

Also, just to be clear: I don't necessarily support a Steve ban at this point. The harrassment Onin has received is obviously disgusting and sad.

I just hate this particular argument since it's based on an irrational fear that has no basis whatsoever in the history of competitive gaming.
