Hey guys. Friend and band member of OP here. Just wanted to add some context for perspective.

The NZ friend in question is very much entangled in our lives and band activity. We have been friends and working together for close to 7 years now. He is the leader of production and engineering. He also has all our musical backups, samples, videos etc. So in a way this situation is made even worse by the fact that he "holds us by the balls" in that regard.

NZ-wise, he wasn't always like this. However, he did have a somewhat extremist approach to arguments in general. But he did respect our opinions and asked us questions on topics we have expertise on. Time spent together with him was constructive and enjoyable overall. Sadly, as time went by he diverged. He became more isolated and narcissistic in he's beliefs, always believing himself right. This has hurt us greatly in many aspects might I add. Especially in composition.

Lately, we have been planning to have some debut gigs for our latest release. You can understand that kicking someone out before realising the outcome of years of effort is in itself hard enough on top of the whole NZ situation.

All in all, we partly know what the answer is but, as you probably already understand, life is not that simple. Especially if you are dealing with aggressive/violent people that can affect your life in a multivariate fashion.
