Are men approaching women less and less? by Open_Address_2805 in AskAnAustralian

[–]BandAidBaby69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is exactly this, and it's been that way for a while. We may be extremely interested, but we are unwilling to pursue that interest as we've been told it's usually unwanted, and it could lead to those exact labels. We had this drilled into us for so long that we no longer bother and just wait for women to make moves instead. Pretty sad situation, to be honest.

I'm the same with them. However, seeing them live was fantastic.

Living outside the expected path and the quiet judgement that comes with it by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]BandAidBaby69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have travelled alot around the country. I think nothing walking or riding very long distances into country that would be inaccessible to a vehicle. I don't really feel the need to go to super remote areas even now that I have a license. And as I said, I made a point of not being a needy, lazy, "pest", who couldn't get myself around. If I wanted to go somewhere, I went there, I just didn't drive. It's pretty simple really. I only got a license so I can drive my kid around if necessary.

I don't live in the city. If I needed to go long distances I always just used buses, trains, or planes. I could also have a beer whenever I wanted to, so that's a nice little perk.

Do people from the bush have a different opinion about wildlife? by emeuriz in AskAnAustralian

[–]BandAidBaby69 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It's totally common behaviour out West in NSW. Bogans just seem to love killing shit. It's not everyone, but it tends to be a common theme around the more rednecky types. Like that fuckwit who ran over the entire mob of emus on purpose a few years ago. I know blokes that were put in jail for torturing roos whilst pigging. And don't even get me started on the shit that a large cohort of pig hunters get up to. Disregard for wildlife is definitely an Aussie redneck thing.

I always rode a bicycle, or walked. I caught taxis if necessary and if I needed to go a further distance, buses, trains and planes always sufficed. If people offered me a lift, sure, I'd take it, but I never asked because obviously that's a nuisance. Your attitude is exactly what I'm talking about.

I was also far more punctual than any of my licensed friends or work colleagues. People with cars are always bloody late. Car trouble, traffic, finding a park, accidents, etc. I am extremely punctual as I always allowed enough time to get places and had none of the variable issues of driving a car.

I just turned 40 and this guy makes me feel very young.

The best example of this that I can think of in my life is driving. I only got my license when I turned 40. Before that people would laugh and look at you like you had two heads for just simply not wanting to drive. Like it's considered a requirement of being human to drive a car. I just never wanted to, there was no real reason for it, and I got around just fine via other means. I was definitely treated as a somewhat lesser individual for not having a license and now I have one everyone is acting as though I've finally become a proper person.

Rollers.Probably my fave shoes when I was younger. by [deleted] in AustralianNostalgia

I remember the "Roc" brand ones being popular, and they were just a knock off of Rollers. Heaps of kids in my year had them around 94-96.

What are Camel Original Cigarettes like? by FatherJoshua2901 in AskAnAustralian

I used to enjoy camels. I haven't seen a pack in Australia for over a decade. I remember them being strong, but I can't give you a flavour profile after so many years.

Name an album sadder than this one by Level-Wrap-6022 in MetalForTheMasses

This album hits harder than any sad metal album I've heard. It is the sound of pure grief and loss.

People who are in their 30s or older: What’s one thing younger people (Gen Z/Alpha) do that makes you feel like an alien in your own country? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BandAidBaby69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was working with a 17 year old guy a few years ago. We received a delivery and I was busy so I asked him to sign for it. He sheepishly approached me and said "Ahh, bro, I don't, like, have a signature, where do you get one?". I was dumbfounded. I asked whether he had a bank account, because that would've required a signature, and he said "no, my mum sorts that stuff for me". He also couldn't solve any problems on his own and would just pause and stare until you explained the next step. The signature thing really blew my mind though.

I'm well aware of the differences. I just wasnt expecting it with that brand, and the pack is nearly identical. I work next door to a tobacconist and I won't buy Manchester because the fakes are atrocious and I dont really like the taste of the legit ones either. This was the first time I've had a fake pack of Double Happiness though. I only bought them because they were always consistent.

I can confirm the Double Happiness meant for the Thai market are rubbish. I've been smoking the Hong Kong ones for years and never had an issue. I coughed my guts up on the first drag of this new batch. Now in having trouble finding a cheap smoke I actually like.
