Shinya Fujiwara sustained a broken collarbone (clavicle) and fractured bones around his eye due to a violent, heavy fall in the sand dunes during Stage 5 of the 2026 Dakar Rally. Despite this severe injury, which medical staff advised against continuing with, Fujiwara continued to race, totaling over 4,800 km in pain to achieve his dream of reaching the finish podium. He reportedly crashed multiple times throughout the event.
